Confused- Medicaid Vs. Managed Care Req?

I hear you! I never was able to get my requirements from BCBS. I'm just going by what my surgeon's office said. The Molina data appears correct from what I could see online.

Confused- Medicaid Vs. Managed Care Req?

Your policy with Molina should be the deciding factor. It is usually 35-39 with comorbities or 40+ with OR without. My guess is you're just not getting the right answer from Medicaid.

    Last Visit before surgery

@@smartj84 I went to surgeon thinking I wanted the Band and after discussing all of the problems people have (50-60% require a secondary surgery) I decided on sleeve. Reading similar stories on here about Band I am glad I didn't go in that direction. I have over 140lbs to lose too.

    Exercise Pre-Sleeve

@@ami23 I do very little exercise pre-op. Both cardio and strength training is important post-op. You can do any exercise pre-op (i.e. walking) and it's better than nothing. Post-op - walking is critical immediately after surgery and adding more exercise a few weeks out.

    Last Visit before surgery

@@smartj84 Great! Sounds like you are in the right frame of mind! Sadly, many seem to omit this important info to Psych and surgeon and end up with serious issues post-op.

Welcome! Have you been to see a therapist regarding the BED? That is something you will want to deal with when getting any WLS.

@@MissKay Just be careful not to get pregnant sooner than you should after WLS. Be safe until you are okay'd by your surgeon to get pregnant.

    Pre-op Diet - Week 2 Stall

@@BigInBoston Consuming fewer calories can make you lose less weight. Your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to what it has (especially after a large loss the week before). It has also been very warm out this week (I'm in Rhode Island) so it's important to get even more fluids in or your body will retain Water. Stick with the low carb, high Protein diet (make sure to get enough protein and fluids) and you'll get where you need to go! Good luck!
  11. Is the Nutritionist experienced in Bariatric Surgery? The most important thing is to get enough Protein and fluids. 40-60 grams is not enough. If you can't drink a pre-made Protein Drink - try making your own (bloating may have been from lactose) or drink Isopure (clear protein drink).
  12. I would guess your not getting enough protein or calories and that's why you are losing slowly or stalled.
  13. That is not alot of protein. What about having a protein shake snack?

    Liquid diet

I don't think so. I'll have to ask about 2 day prep at my next appointment..My surgery isn't until October so I have a looooong time to go. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App My plan requires clear liquids day before - that's all.
  16. How many grams of protein? How many calories? Stalling is normal but be sure you are getting enough protein especially with exercising. My plan suggests eating 5-6 times a day.

    4th week pre op

Are you required to lose a certain amount? The pre-op diet is for shrinking your liver - not necessarily weight loss. You need to drink plenty of fluids and get some protein. What are you allowed to eat?
  18. OMG! And I love pickles! Thanks for this info! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N915A using the BariatricPal App I bought them on Amazon.
  19. It wasn't even the OP who was screaming ATTACK.
  20. This has to be Water weight - it's not possible to gain 6lbs of fat overnight. Have you been drinking enough? With the warmer weather- you'll need to drink more. Keep an eye on sodium too.
  21. You could try pickle popsicles... https://www.pickleaddicts.com/products/bobs-pickle-pops-dill-pickel-juice-popsicles-6pack @@Daniellewi

    Where do you buy clothes?

In addition to thrift shops and consignment - try Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Lane Bryant has 14/16 and you can get some great deals on clearance. They are a better quality than Avenue.
  23. Sabotaging - I don't even think they're conscious of it. :-(

    New symptom - pain

Ditto! It could be serious complications!
  25. @@shannon.crigger You are only a week out from major surgery - including not only Bypass but gallbladder removal. That's more than a week recovery time. You will end up hospitalized. Please rest, drink plenty of fluids and get your protein and vitamins. Does your employer or State have any short term disability insurance? It's not safe to return to work this soon. I believe I was out 4 weeks just from gallbladder surgery. Take care of yourself!
