"Just 62 pounds?"
KristenLe replied to venomousflowers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefully but he literally said "62 is poor weight loss" and that made me feel like a failure. Sent from my SM-G360T1 using the BariatricPal App You're not a failure - that would be someone who didn't try at all and lost nothing! Could you have lost more - probably - but it's not too late! Stay strong! -

Are you drinking enough fluids? If it's warm where you live - you'll need even more fluids. Be careful with sodium. Walk and move around. If you're not peeing alot - I'd check in with your surgeon. -
6 month waiting period for insurance is crazy
KristenLe replied to bac2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both my Nutritionist and Psychologist helped me stay motivated when the scale didn't budge. My NUT didn't expect weight loss really - she was teaching me how to eat, get fluids and exercise for post-op living. She said the surgery will get the scale moving. I have PCOS and it's not easy to lose (I fluctuate 5 lbs a week). Learn all you can about post-op living. There's some great books I would recommend. This isn't a diet - it's a lifestyle change so use this time to prepare as much as possible. https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect -
6 month waiting period for insurance is crazy
KristenLe replied to bac2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan suggested high protein, low carb (50% protein/50% produce). This was not the time to lose (thankfully since even sticking mostly to the plan I only lost 3 lbs in 3 months). I didn't have a calorie restriction. It was to learn how to eat post-op. Use small plates, eat slowly and not mindlessly (in front of TV, in car, etc), stop sodas and high calorie drinks (juice, Gatorade, sweet tea, etc). The most useful that I got out of my time was working with a psychologist on emotional/mindless eating, cravings, etc. All plans/programs are different but ask for any additional help you need so you will be ready. It is a long time but it does go by quick - just use it to your advantage! -

I had a great Program - met with a nutritionist monthly and Psychologist bi-weekly (who helped me tremendously with the emotional eating issues). -
"Just 62 pounds?"
KristenLe replied to venomousflowers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some lose faster but 62lbs is a good amount of weight to lose! Your surgeon may be concerned that you usually lose the most weight the first 9-12 months with Bypass and then it can slow down. Maybe he'll have a plan for you to lose faster. -

Supervised weight loss
KristenLe replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would work with a Bariatric Nutritionist on learning to eat post surgery. This is the time to change habits and deal with emotional eating. I worked with my Bariatric Team during this time to eat healthy and how I'll need to eat after WLS. I don't think you need a specific program. -
@@JupiterinVirgo Are you having any carbs in your diet? They can trigger more cravings. You may need a carb detox.

Stomach cramps, bloody stool and chest pain with headache?
KristenLe replied to venomousflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm concerned about the chest pain and bleeding. Internal bleeding can cause anemia which can cause a heart attack. If it gets worse - I'd still go to ER regardless of the surgeon's advice. Hope you are better soon. -
Emotional Turmoil /Depression
KristenLe replied to Tiffany2015's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Tiffany2015 I'm so very sorry! One thing that is positive is that your cancer is Stage 1 and not further advanced. With surgery, hopefully you will be cancer free and be able to move forward with your life! If you hadn't lost weight - I wonder if they would have found the cancer this early. You are lucky (in that aspect)! I don't have children even though I've always wanted them. It just wasn't in the cards. I have my nieces, nephews and now great niece & nephew that I am extremely close to. I also have my dogs - who are my children! At times when my sister is going through a challenge with her son - I do think that I'm glad I'm just an Aunt! Prayers for a successful and complete recovery following surgery! Stay strong and positive!!! -

Ask your in-laws - you need to worry about taking care of yourself and not driving. -
@@northstar9148 I'm sorry about your injuries and difficulties. My concern is if you can't plan meals now - how will you post-op? Can someone help you? I would not do diet pills.

Sleeve surgery 06/09/2016
KristenLe replied to Kristinsleeve06092016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you on purees? That's my plan for 2 &3 weeks. I was told to still have protein drinks for protein. To eat 1-2ozs over 20 mins of puree wait 30 mins and have 2-4 ozs of protein drink over 1 hour wait 30 mins and repeat. Possible purees could be no sugar added apple sauce, avocado, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, egg substitute or liquid egg whites, tuna, yogurt, plain oatmeal, soups (no chunks or blended). You can Google some good recipes for purees too. Experiment and add spices or flavors to change things up. Purees must be less than 5 gms fat and 5 gms sugar. Recommends to set timer and eat on a schedule to be consistent. I think this stage is to reintroduce foods slowly but more to learn how to eat again (like a baby) and small portions. My NUT said to get protein from liquids and not to worry that you aren't able to get it from food yet. I hope this helps. And you will lose - stick with the plan and you won't fail! Good luck!
