    Goodwill shopping help

    Try consignment stores too.
  2. Please do not consider weight loss surgery at your BMI. BMI scale is not realistic. Your weight is probably at most of our GOAL weights. You could end up losing far too much weight and risk serious complications from a major surgery. It's not worth it at your weight.

    6 month pre diet?

My 6 months supervised diet was more of a lesson in learning how to eat properly post-op. I didn't have a weight loss requirement and didn't have a specific"diet" to follow. Talk to a nutritionist at your Bariatric Program and see what is recommended. You could start out by replacing one meal with a Protein shake. Give up soda or high caloric drinks. I would not recommend coming off pain meds on your own.

    Surgery tomorrow!

Just keep going over all the good things you want to do once you lose weight! My therapist actually had me keep a list so if I had any doubts or needed a boost - I could easily refer back to it. Stay strong!!!

    Pre-op rant

Wipe with your left! ????. Seriously, please don't stress about the small things! Just relax and rest while you wait.
  6. @@RobertD16 Stay strong and positive! Hopefully we hear from you post-op that all was a success!

    CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS

@@higher Does your surgeon know you are flying in the night before? You may want to tell them in case they want you to take blood thinners pre-op. Hopefully your flight is on time! ????

    Update:

Unless it's a hemorrhoid - bleeding is not something to take lightly (not sure what your new surgeon is thinking). I hope it's nothing serious - please keep us posted.

    Eating a lot of broth

Try drinking fluids at different temps. Some tolerate cold vs warm - or vice versa. Try some infused water or flavored water, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello. You will become dehydrated if you don't get more fluids in. Hope you have an easier time soon!

    What's your favourite...

Another favorite... Best version is Warren Haynes - Live at Bonaroo! Soulshine... When you can't find the light, That got you through the cloudy days, When the stars ain't shinin' bright, You feel like you've lost you're way, When those candle lights of home, Burn so very far away, Well you got to let your soul shine, Just like my daddy used to say. He used to say soulshine, It's better than sunshine, It's better than moonshine, Damn sure better than rain. Hey now people don't mind, We all get this way sometime, Got to let your soul shine, shine till the break of day. I grew up thinkin' that I had it made, Gonna make it on my own. Life can take the strongest man, Make him feel so alone. Now and then I feel a cold wind, Blowin' through my achin' bones, I think back to what my daddy said, He said "Boy, in the darkness before the dawn:" Let your soul shine, It's better than sunshine, It's better than moonshine, Damn sure better than rain. Yeah now people don't mind, We all get this way sometimes, Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day. Sometimes a man can feel this emptiness, Like a woman has robbed him of his very soul. A woman too, God knows, she can feel like this. And when your world seems cold, you got to let your spirit take control. Let your soul shine, It's better than sunshine, It's better than moonshine, Damn sure better than rain. Lord now people don't mind, We all get this way sometimes, Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day. Oh, it's better than sunshine, It's better than moonshine, Damn sure better than rain. Yeah now people don't mind, We all get this way sometimes, Gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day.
  12. I would think the hospital would call you if there were issues with your coverage. They usually are careful to check ahead of time so they don't eat the bill. Hopefully when Cobra goes thru they honor your authorization from prior coverage. When I got Cobra it was actually a different plan #. Just be cautious - you don't want a $40k bill.
  13. I would try and see if you benefit from it. I went biweekly while I am pre-surgery and actually got a lot out of it. It was a psychologist from my Bariatric Program who worked with my on eating issues (emotional eating, mindless eating). She gave me tools I feel will help me be successful post-op. My guess is that your surgeon has a concern and it's best to address it.

    People and their big mouths

This is what I would have said too! This a$$hole clearly is trying to cut you down - hoping you won't lose weight and feel & look better than them! Misery loves company! Tell them to screw off and let you know when they've lost any weight!
  15. Concentrate on protein, fluids and exercise. I would have protein instead of toast, cereal or oatmeal. Yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese, beans, soft cheese, tuna, egg salad, chicken salad, etc. My plan says eat 5-6 times a day (2-4ozs at that stage).

    Airport security issues ?

My ankle hardware was a concern to them. It may be the staples.

    Smoothies

Be sure to add protein and watch the sugar in the coconut water.

    Inflammation and swelling

You need more. Try sugar free popsicles, flavored water, infused water, tea, lemon added to tea or water. It's important that you flush out your system and get hydrated. Do everything possible to drink at least 64ozs if not more! Good luck!

17 months after surgery and PREGOS!

Congrats! Just worry about nutrients for you and the little one - don't stress about weight gain!
  21. How much fluids are you getting? How long are you on it and when did you start? How much do you have to lose. Whatever you do - don't come off meds - it's important to stay on them.
  22. Give it more time. Be sure to get your protein, fluids and vitamins and if you still have irregular periods talk to both your surgeon and GYN.
