Having a hard time sticking to my diet

I would ask her how much weight she's expecting you to lose. Mine had no expectations at all. Just learned how to eat for post-op living (high Protein, low carb). Preparation of meals was key to me! Also - I went to therapy to learn how to cope with emotional eating.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

I'm the same way. I'd rather not get down to 120- I think that's too low for me.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

That's a good goal weight - not high at all!
  4. This is my bad time too. I have been eating sugar free popsicles to satisfy my cravings.

    Weight loss progress ?

You can't determine weight loss a week out. You were pumped full of fluids at the hospital. Add swelling to that and your weight could be up. Weight loss will depend on how well you stick to your plan, how much you have to lose, etc. It's not wise to compare with anyone.

    Michigan sleevers

You will be exhausted for a few weeks. That's normal after most major surgeries and more so when you're not getting enough protein and calories. Be sure to drink at least 64ozs of non caloric fluids and as soon as able - get all your recommended protein. Your body is healing and you need to rest. Walking will help move things along. Don't worry about the scale right now.
  7. Congrats! It's always great to read success stories!

    Pre-op diet?

What does your plan say? My plan only has me doing Clear Liquids day before surgery.

    Last meal

I don't know if I'll have a "last meal" but if I do it will be pizza from my favorite place (thankfully it's an hour away so it's not somewhere we go often) or pasta (Alfredo or Carbonara). Italian food is incredible where I live. With a big hunk of Italian bread w/ butter!

    8 week post op

You may not be eating enough. How many grams of protein are you getting? You definitely need more fluids. Only 19 lbs - that's not bad. Be sure you are getting enough protein and water.
  11. How much protein? How much water? Are you exercising? What else are you eating besides protein?

    Protein, hmmm

The likelihood of getting enough protein by food for the first month at least is minimal. I don't start purees until week #2 and even then they told me to have 1-2 ozs of puree 5-6 times a day. That's not going to add up to 65+ gms protein.
  13. @@dski Don't go by your FitBit. At this point you should be concerned about eating protein and drinking water (non caloric drinks). My plan suggests 1-2 ozs of protein every 3 hours while awake and increase to 3-4 ozs week 4. Track your protein and water intake. Don't worry about calories right now.

    Miss Real Food! [emoji23]

Look up recipe for ricotta bake. There's also hummus, refried Beans, cottage cheese, creamed Soups, etc. So many options! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Miss Real Food! [emoji23]

Make some good, flavorful broth or strain Soup and have the broth more flavor than just store bought broth. @@albare1978 Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Goodwill shopping help

I don't recommend selling on ThredUp. I sent 16 quality items and got $20.88 - they sold all items and did pretty good for themselves. I'd rather give away clothes.

    Gas in my shoulder

Call your surgeon if you question the pain or it's intensity. Although it could be normal - it could also be a complication such as blood clots. Please don't take the chance that it's the same pain others have.

    Freaking out

If she doesn't come in tomorrow - call your surgeon for options. Most PCPs are required to have a plan for coverage to be contracted with insurance. If they have an electronic record - she could sign off on your clearance without having to go into office. There are also laws regarding needing to be available for a PA. If she doesn't get you the letter - I'd be sure they aren't billing your insurance for the visit. Praying things get done!

Surgery jealousy? Is that a thing?

It's about jealousy and misery loves company. Try not to get upset or take it personally. It's about them.

    A few hours to go....

Try and relax! Follow your plan and you'll do great!
  21. @@WitchySar Why is your insurance expiring? Have you contacted anyone from your State's Health Exchange to see if you qualify for a plan through the affordable care act?

    Freaking out

@@cajackson Your PCP should have coverage for when they aren't in. Call and speak with the Office Manager or Nurse Manager and explain the situation. If the PA cleared you - they should be able to get you a statement for your surgeon. If they give you a hard time - call your surgeon for options. Sometimes a clinic at the hospital will do a pre-op clearance. Good luck! I'd be freaking out as well.

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Are you taking an acid reducer/PPI? That should help. It's probably acid or head hunger and not real hunger. Drink more - try broth.
