Found of I'm pregnant right before surgery
KristenLe replied to Justjune83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Justjune83 You need to call your surgeon immediately. There's no way you can go through surgery. It's dangerous for a fetus to be exposed to anesthesia and meds given during surgery. You are also not able to get enough nutrients for you and a baby. If you have surgery - you are putting yourself and the baby at great risk. Sorry that your plan seems to have detailed but a healthy pregnancy and baby are more important! -
You don't need carbs!!! That's probably a real bad idea this soon into maintenance. Protein Protein Protein!

@@Hiraeth I'm happy that your Mom is supportive of WLS. Does your Bariatric Program have a nutritionist? If so - I'd go through them. I had my required supervised weight loss with them and also my initial Eval. I also had my Psych Eval thru my BP. I asked for additional sessions to help me prepare for emotional eating challenges and found that to help the most. I recommend that to anyone going thru WLS. Use this time to learn living post op. I wish I started this at your age!

Exactly! Not to mention that the smoothie sucked! LOL She forgot 2 ingredients and didn't put ice in it (and everything was room temp). She also said that we could have it at any stage pre-op or post-op but there were hemp seeds in it and when my nutritionist came by I asked if it was allowed in the first 4-6 weeks because I was told no seeds and she said no we couldn't have it for 6 weeks post-op. So - the presenter gave folks wrong information (and considering I was picking help seeds out of my teeth all night - I suspect those little suckers could easily get caught up on a staple and cause significant issues.

Seriously - I don't have time to run (or change) a Support Group. I'm all set with just going the 2 mandated sessions and being done with it. I have my own full-time job to do.

Miss Real Food! [emoji23]
KristenLe replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@PrinceVanHalen I was not told I couldn't have tomato sauce. Maybe it's too much acid - it can cause reflux issues so if that's been a problem or a possible problem - that could be why. Tomato juice is actually on my plan for full liquids. Some tomato sauce does have a fair amount of sugar. -
Countown is at 9 days...27 June is my date!

Insurance requires 6 months of proof
KristenLe replied to Just.TinaVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should look into doing a program with the Nutritionist from your Bariatric practice. That way you can learn how to eat post-op and can get some benefit from the wait. I also had therapy to deal with emotional eating issues or cravings while I waited. You need to find out if you need to lose weight during this time. Not all plans require weight loss. -
I would not worry. If the Dr didn't feel like a study was necessary - I'm sure you will be just fine.

What to expect @ 1wk post op appt?
KristenLe replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guess is...check your incisions, do an exam and weight. This is the time to ask questions or tell them if something doesn't seem right. -
It's normal. Liquids in... liquids out! Just remember - never trust a fart! ????

You are beautiful!!! Congrats!

@@stsch06 Many of us think maybe we could do this on our own - but the sad statistic is that only 5% of people who lose weight on their own keep it off long-term. You need to change your eating habits but the surgery is a tool to help you with portion sizes. If you stick to the plan - you will be successful. You're doing this for you - and it's the right thing to do.

Insurance Patients - When did you meet your surgeon?
KristenLe replied to Sleeved_Michelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I met with the surgeon first and discussed options. Then I met Nutritionist and Psych. Once insurance approval goes thru I'm scheduled again with the surgeon. I would think all of the work you've done will be transferable. I would ask for a consultation with the surgeon at TR and if they don't allow that then go somewhere else. -
That makes me excited to think that could be me soon. Congrats!!!

The nutritionist went over a recipe for a smoothie for 30+ mins. Not exactly the support I was looking for. I'm glad I know what the heck I'm doing (for the most part).

Mix protein powder into your drinks or broth. -
Oh you need to do the weight loss first - you may end up needing another surgery if not.

Try going back to basics. Eliminate carbs - they will trigger more cravings. -
If my metabolism has slowed then how come I have so much energy?
KristenLe replied to Katrinakit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may not be eating enough with that level of exercise. Add more protein and fluids. I think 21 lbs is good though so congrats! -
@@bini120 Have a wonderful time! Does your husband have a single brother? ????. Alcohol can cause bleeding this early out so you'd best not have any. :-(
