How many calories a day to lose?
KristenLe replied to abean204's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful not to limit your calories too much - it will screw up your metabolism long term. My NUT didn't specify calorie limits yet. -

@@betterme38 No, not in KC. I'm in Rhode Island. Pickles are my favorite - I even bought pickle popsicles to have post-op (good for hydration). :-) -
Did anyone stay in liquid diet long term post-op?
KristenLe replied to Chrysalis77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you should reconsider. Post-op is the best time to develop a better relationship with food. Use this "honeymoon" period to learn to eat in a way that's sustainable. If you're just going to have shakes/liquids - why bother with surgery? I'm not trying to be rude - I just think it's best to eat real food as soon as you can. -
@@pprl8765 Is it possible that it is hormonal? My niece had horrible migraines that improved on birth control pills.

Try drinking at different temps - it might go down better. You can also add unflavored Protein powder to broth or fluids. -

Secret Sleeve & Recovery Time?
KristenLe replied to Laughkc11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be cautious - if there are any complications you may not be ready to return so quickly. At less than a week post-op - you may still have pain and will be exhausted. If you can take more time - I would. -

Try to select protein if you have to cheat. You need to avoid carbs - as your body will come out of ketosis and you don't want that to happen (you'll be back at day 1). Be sure to have things on your diet handy at all times. It's very difficult but you can do it! -
I strongly encourage therapy with a psychologist specialized in bariatric surgery to learn how to cope with cravings and emotional eating. I went pre-op and it has helped. @@MCE1205 You may want to cut back a little on the fruits - they could triggering carb cravings.

Weight loss has stopped...getting worried
KristenLe replied to charzard2016's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your husband apparently expected you to wake up from surgery skinny! ????. Twenty pounds is alot of weight. Your body is still healing. You need to concentrate on getting enough Protein, fluids, Vitamins and exercise (even just walking). Have you measured yourself? Often times we lose inches even when the scale doesn't move. Stress will make matters worse - so put the scale away and stick to your plan - I promise you will lose weight. Stay strong and positive! Make sure you are getting enough protein and water! -

Welcome to the infamous 3rd week stall! Just keep getting enough protein and fluids and you will be fine! Your body needs time to adjust. Congrats on your loss so far!

I think that's a great BD present! Some people have plastic surgery to alter what I consider already a great body - you are having it to repair your body! After being so successful - you deserve it! Congrats on your loss - and hope you kicked that guys ass!

Get some Airborne and take it until surgery! Extra Vit C too! I think it would depend on if you had a respiratory infection or congested lungs. Lots of fluids, vitamins and rest! Good luck.

"Cheating" on the liquid diet
KristenLe replied to illuminationlady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would be more concerned about how you are going to manage post-op as well. If you are doing very low carbs - you most likely have shrunk your liver but you need to talk to your team about this. -

It could be dehydration or an issue with your blood pressure too. Are you on BP meds? If so - you may need them adjusted. Glad you're getting checked out. -

Did they use a tourniquet to draw blood? It could be from a reaction to that. Do you have a latex allergy?
