One month done supervised diet
KristenLe replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jenjen2016 I went to the Nutritionist at my Bariatric Program for my supervised diet. She went over how I will need to eat post-op. Recommended making some changes and getting used to eating properly. It's a waste of time if they're not going to provide you with any relevant information. -

Nighttime leg cramping.
KristenLe replied to ag0177's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@ag0177 It could be dehydration, low potassium, low calcium, etc. I would also be concerned about a blood clot (DVT). Try using some compression stockings to see if that helps. Try drinking something with electrolytes. Depending on the stage you are in - you could add some foods with potassium - Beans, bananas, squash, potatoes (with skin), yogurt, avocado. If it gets worse - don't hesitate to call your Dr again - blood clots are extremely serious - but so is low potassium. -
Need your help - coming up on 1 year surgiversary...
KristenLe replied to Margie122's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Margie122 I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's health issues. In 2013, my Dad suffered a stroke and thankfully he was on the phone with the RN from his PCP's office and she sensed something was wrong and called 911. He didn't suffer any permanent effects (Thank God). Your Mom is so lucky to have you by her side! Stay strong and positive! You and Mom will be in my thoughts and prayers! -
@@Hannah83 Minnie will be forever grateful for the love and kindness you showed her - especially in the End. Although her body has left this Earth - her Spirit will be with you always!!! Godspeed, Minnie! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Hannah!!!

Stalk them next year - I would bet they won't have long term success and be healthy!

Look at them again in a year - I would bet $ they aren't successful in keeping the weight off (or being healthy)!

Dumping syndrome for Sleevers?

We were told that although you may get similar symptoms of dumping - it's not actually dumping. -

Mother is thinking about filing a lawsuit
KristenLe replied to venomousflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I still am bleeding rectally and I've asked my PCP to send me to a GI but she keeps telling me to go to my surgeon. I know suing isn't the answer but she's worried that something really bad is wrong with me and I am going to get worse before anyone bothers to help. Sent from my SM-G360T1 using the BariatricPal App Suing isn't going to get you seen sooner! Go to the ER and explain you have been bleeding. -
Ignore your husband! Tell him he's not helping and he is hurting you! Get your protein and water - take your vitamins and get moving in some way (walking) - the weight will come off! 23 lbs is nothing to sneeze at!

Mother is thinking about filing a lawsuit
KristenLe replied to venomousflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Suing is not the answer. If I recall - you were bleeding rectally at one point. That is not normal. I would go to a GI Dr and see if they can run some tests and see what is going on. -

KristenLe replied to theantichick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@theantichick The weight gain may have been a result of the blood pressure med change. Hopefully they added a diuretic and you'll be down again. -

KristenLe replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@reachbree Your hormones are all out of whack. Give yourself time to heal. Do what you can to get in your protein and fluids - don't worry about introducing pureed foods. Rest as much as possible. Stay hydrated! If depression becomes an issue - talk to your Dr. You can get through this! -
How many calories during purée stage
KristenLe replied to tobhappy&healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you should worry about calories at this stage but 700 doesn't sound like too much. -
361 Days Later: My Story
KristenLe replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for sharing! Your story is very encouraging as I am just starting out on this journey. Congrats on your success! -
Yes I have been in therapy but haven't needed to see her on a regular basis for quite a while now.I would consider scheduling an appointment. With all of the hormonal changes after WLS - it's good to have support.
-
My approval was as of 9/1 - which was apparently what was filled out by the surgeon's office on the approval request. The insurance coordinator said they can change that if I have all my testing done before then. I'm not counting on it though because nothing has been scheduled - I haven't heard from them at all.

@@CarlAllen_95 You are swollen and received fluids which show on the scale. Don't think about restricting calories - focus on getting your protein and liquids. The weight will come off - I promise! -
@@smartj84 Are you in therapy to deal with your eating disorder? I think that would be helpful pre-surgery.

Try to drink more - you may be dehydrated.

It would be reviewed to determine if report justified. I'd like to know what they found as offensive!
