Do you still have your gallbladder?

Ask for an RX for Pyridium. It really helps with the pain.

1 Week (4 Days Post Op) Gastric Sleeve

Welcome! There's quite a few men on the forum. There's a section "The Men's Room" where you may want to post any questions. Your eating habits will change but you can still enjoy food. Brisket will be a good source of Protein once you're cleared to eat meat.

    Any September dates?

I'm hoping for a date around then too. I've been waiting to get my pre-op testing done since June 13th. Frustrating!

    Which to do....

Speak to your surgeon. The band is probably not going to be recommended but the Sleeve or Bypass could both be good options. Based on your medical history and eating habits - they will recommend one that's best for you.

    Help, puking

I'm pre-op but you could try some broth, sugar free popsicles, flavored water, crystal light, etc. Try drinking smaller sips of protein shake or look into Syntrax Nectar instead. Good luck.
  9. Broth may help (sodium). Hang in there!
  10. @ Try other fluids - crystal light, sugar free popsicles, infused water, broth, etc. It all counts towards your water intake.
  11. I wouldn't delay either. Who knows what the situation will be in Nov. Someone else may be out at work, your insurance could change, you could be laid off. Don't take the chance!
  12. @@PrettyThick1 Being banded is very different than having VSG. Although you did not experience any problems - the OP is having a major surgery including removing 80% of their stomach and stapling the remaining stomach (which will require significant healing time). @@theantichick was very politely cautioning the OP to just speak to the anesthesiologist and surgeon so they are aware and can make any adjustments necessary. I don't believe she was trying to scare them - only giving good medical advice (from an RN perspective). Yes - there's a risk with everything but you take precautions to limit the risks involved - and that's all that they were suggesting.
  13. @@Ale Nunez What does your diet allow? You may want to put a call into your surgeon for suggestions on what you can have. Hope you feel better soon!
  14. @@blueeyez You may want to read all of the comments in the thread before accusing someone of being a bully. @@anniebanana clearly stated she gave the person other options to satisfy their craving and they weren't interested - they wanted a PB&J sandwich. We are all adults - this crying "bully" is getting really old.

Hair loss #2 at 14 months out?!

@@madferitchick I'm not sure if weight loss impacts thyroid but it definitely can cause hair loss. I would get it checked.

    PCOS AFTER

Many have PCOS - I think there might even be a forum specific to that. I'm pre-op but from my research - PCOS symptoms are lessened greatly after WLS. :-)

    2 weeks Post-Op Today!

Really? Thats strange. Im going to have to call tomorrow. How you feeling? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App I'm still pre-op unfortunately.
  18. I think that's an unrealistic goal from your surgeon. You don't have as much to lose as many of us and to expect 50lbs in 3 months is alot. Maybe you need to eat more now that you're working out? I'm pre-op but know that if you're not getting enough - your body will go into starvation mode and hold on to your fat. Stay strong and positive!

    2 weeks Post-Op Today!

It depends on your plan. I'm allowed Protein shakes in the hospital day 2.

    2 weeks Post-Op Today!

Try a banana flavored shake and see if it satisfies that craving.

    How many meals..?

My plan is for 5-6 meals a day (3 hours in between). I would say you're not eating enough.

When to eat what not to eat

My plan doesn't recommend counting calories but was clear about getting enough Protein. It's not sustainable to just eat beans, fruits and vegetables only. You will end up sick of them and feel deprived. This is one time I'd say not to listen to your surgeon. Lol. Change up your protein.

When to eat what not to eat

That is a good loss - so you seem to be losing enough. However- I have never heard of post-op diet instructions quite like yours. I'm told to measure - don't eat until feel full (you will end up overeating) and to eat protein first - produce second. I would be very careful confused by your instructions. Hope you get clarification.

If this wasn't so pathetic it would be hilarious

@@Oregondaisy I hope you give him a chance - it takes a lot of balls to say that to someone on the 1st date. Hopefully it will be something you both can laugh about it one day. And hopefully if it works out with you two - his dysfunction can be corrected. :-)
