    Freaking out!

@@shantell500 You lost 7lbs in a week. That's pretty damn good! Don't compare yourself to anyone else - everyone's journey is different. You have less to lose than most of us - so it may be slower. Stick with your plan (get enough protein and fluids) and the weight will come off. You can't judge weight loss at only a week out - you may still be retaining fluids from surgery and are swollen. Stay strong!
  2. @@GeorgiaLM How much protein are you getting? You said you eat 2 chicken breasts with gravy - that's it. You may not be eating enough or frequently enough. It's possible you are retaining fluids. A liter is not enough fluids - you need at least 64 ozs - even more if exercising and are in a hot climate. I'm sorry your Team hasn't been responsive. At 4 weeks out - my plan is still puree (3-4ozs every 3 hours) and focus on protein. Stay strong - don't get discouraged!
  3. Lol... that's too funny!

    Too much pre-op weightloss?

Sorry! Some insurances indicate failing a 6 month supervised diet. It will all depend on your insurance plan requirements, surgeon and BMI/Comorbities.

Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

I think I'm going to miss celery (for however long I can't eat it).

    Too much pre-op weightloss?

I would think you could risk not having insurance approve if you lose too much weight. They could day you can lose weight without surgery. I'm surprised your Dr prescribed Phentermine knowing that the weight loss success is temporary. The best thing you can do during this 6 months is learn how to eat post-op , deal with any emotional eating issues or bad eating habits. I would caution you in losing too much pre-surgery.

    Pre-Op Fears

@@NewAdventure2016 That's a pretty low BMI. You'll have to be very careful not to go to far in the other direction. Be sure to speak to a Bariatric Nutritionist to get a plan that will allow for enough good quality calories so you don't lose too much. I would encourage therapy too - as your body may change after surgery - your mind won't and you may need to address your emotions. Best of luck!

    Hungry

My plan is 5-6 small meals a day (that could include a protein shake) with 3 hours in between.

    3 days away

Best of luck!!! Stay strong and let us know how you do!

    Feeling teary and so sad

It could be anesthesia but more likely hormones from weight loss. Hang in there! Go for a walk - let the endorphins fight those damn hormones!

What was your favorite puréed food?

I'm still pre-op but a few that sound good to me... Ricotta bake Refried Beans with melted cheese (could add cream cheese too) & sour cream Tuna with mayo and avocado Hummus Cottage cheese (I like the chive & onion one) There's some great ideas on Pinterest too. Experiment and enjoy!
  13. That's an amazing amount in 3 1/2 months! You are an inspiration for those just starting out. Congrats!

    Now I'm pissed. Seriously pissed...

My nephew recently returned from deployment (Airforce Reserves) and it's very sad and scary that he's in more danger everyday he goes to work as a police officer! This has to stop! ????????

    Risks on WLS

Great response from @@Cervidae . You can also reduce your risk of complications by following your surgeon's instructions and not going off plan (pre-op and post-op!). Good luck with your consult!
  16. That's usually where they remove your stomach from so more muscles involved.

    The truth about ibuprofen...

I just read a study that Bariatric Surgery often resolves HS. Have they indicated that as a possibility?

    Airport security issues ?

I believe it's the staples used on your stomach that they are referring to. Are you referring to your incisions?
  19. Do they have anyone oncall to ask? I think it's common but you should be able to reach your surgeon on a weekend.

    Hidradenitis Supporitiva ?

There are studies that indicate Bariatric Surgery resolves HS.

    Post surgery expectations

Yes. As long as you are getting enough protein and fluids - the scale will move. Your body needs time to adjust. Stay off the scale for a while. Hang in there!

    Just wondering!

Take small sips. Try different temps of your liquids - some tolerate warm more than cold (or vice versa). Good luck! If you continue to have pain - give your surgeon a call.

    JULY surgery dates!

It depends on the surgeon but also in the patient. If you have been prescribed a pre-op diet - it's important to stick with it! It's to ensure a safer surgery. Post-op diets vary too - but you need to follow YOUR diet as prescribed by your surgeon. You risk significant complications - some life threatening! Hope you make out okay at your appointment.
