    Unsupportive fiance

@@crissyboo I'm so sorry he's being an asshole! Your health and life are at risk and you need to take care for yourself. It's a shame he can't find a few days out of his busy schedule to be there for you in getting healthy! It would seem he doesn't have your best interest at heart! ????.

    I'm heartbroken [emoji22]

I believe they have to offer Cobra benefits. It's worth the cost not to have to start over. Fingers crossed.

    Tackling Depression

At 5 days post-OP, you should already be losing weight. Call your doctor and see if he can see you about this. There's no need to call your surgeon about weight loss at this time. It's not unusual to not lose weight by 5 days post-op. Some even gain weight. If you are having problems with depression - then please call your Dr or Psych provider.

    On liquid diet and fainted

@@TheProfessor This happening after a shower can also be from dehydration. Very scary and dangerous!

    On liquid diet and fainted

@@bridgetsband How scary! Until you hear back from Nutritionist - be sure to drink something with electrolytes. You could probably benefit from sodium too - so maybe some broth. These strictly liquid diets are excessive and dangerous as far as I'm concerned. Hope you feel better!

Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

I don't think you have to give up sushi (except maybe rice)!

Obamacare ins. Do you have to wait a year....

    I don't think there's a waiting period but there's probably a very large deductible.

    Unsupportive fiance

@@crissyboo How much weight do you have to lose? Maybe if your fiance goes to some informational seminars or even your Drs appt he'll understand that it's far from the easy way out. Also - less than 5% of people who lose on their own keep the weight off. That's lousy odds! I encourage therapy - for you both and separately - because if this could end your relationship - you need to determine if you should even have a relationship never mind marry. What else will he be unsupportive about? If you have alot of weight to lose - do this for YOU and your health! If he can't be supportive - he's not the person you want to be with! Stay strong!

    Newbie - introduction

During abdominal surgery they pump your abdominal cavity with gas so they can see and maneuver better during surgery. This has then travels and often goes to the shoulder area - causing shoulder pain. The best way to get rid of it is moving and walking.
  12. You could try going back to basics. Here's the pouch reset diet.
  13. I would not take any chances and call your Dr. Hope it's nothing serious.

    Regret

Have you asked your Dr to give you an anti-nausea med? Concentrate on getting fluids - dehydration is serious and will land you back in the hospital. Try different temps - some folks tolerate warm more than cold (or vice versa). Drink something with some electrolytes. Try tea or broth. Call your surgeon if it's not any better! You won't regret the surgery once you feel better!
  15. There are alot of good recipes online. I am pre-op still but I believe you could put chicken in the blender then add a little mayo (can add avocado too). I would not puree fish - something about that doesn't seem right. Lol If the fish cakes are the consistency of Apple sauce - then yes you can try them. There's also cottage cheese, refried beans with melted cheese, ricotta bake, hummus. Although my plan suggests continuing protein shakes during puree to ensure getting enough protein and the puree should be to get used to eating again (since it's very small portions and hard to get enough protein).

    Salad

A food that's usually doesn't have any nutritional value that "slides" easily through your sleeve allowing you to consume larger portions. Sometimes it's not an issue and helpful to get your Protein (yogurt, creamed soups) but other times when it's popcorn, chips, ice cream, etc - it's not a good thing.

    New here!

Your throat, stomach, etc are all very swollen and sensitive. Your stomach is stapled top to bottom. The reason for the food stages is so you can heal and not get sick (vomiting could cause a complication), have an obstruction, get a piece of food caught in staple, cause a leak, etc. As you heal - you can advance to different stages. Dumping is not common with the sleeve.
  21. I don't think it will cause a delay in surgery but I'm not a Dr. Fingers crossed it won't - please keep us posted.

    Oops, a straw!

@@milpreve Don't worry! It is supposed to make you swallow more air and would cause gas. If you feel fine - no harm done!!! The drink sounds delicious!

What's the name of med?Emend. That's an anti-nausea med. Odd he ordered something that expensive. I'd hope you have ZERO nausea!
  24. I think it's about 2 liters. That's not enough calories - your body is in starvation mode. Can you still drink protein shakes? You definitely need to eat more.
