  1. Take a slow and safe - food wise.
  2. @@Nibbler How often are you eating that you're unable to get enough Protein at 12 months out? I dread the thought of having to continue Protein shakes at that stage.

Feet falling asleep while on the toilet

@@theantichick I saw the squatty potty for the first time ever last weekend - I never even heard of it before.
  4. Pre-op diets can vary significantly. Follow your program and stick with it. Not only is this to help prepare your body for a safer surgery - but it also helps to prepare your mind for post-op. Learn to deal with the head hunger and cravings now - it will make post-op easier. Take it one day (or even one hour) at a time. Have things you can have handy at all times. Don't go too long without having something - or you'll be more apt to grab something easy and off plan. Most can have broth - I suggest making your own or at least flavoring boxed/canned broth (boil with onions, celery, carrots, garlic, salt & pepper, paprika, etc). Find distractions if you are having cravings - go for a walk, clean closets, read, etc. If you are hungry - have something on plan. Stay strong - it's worth it in the long run to stick with the pre-op diet.

    Scared to eat

@@happycamper06 Take small sips - the fluids will go through your sleeve rapidly and you won't really feel "full". I'm actually able to take normal sips (except with shakes) now (7 days post op). It has made it much easier to get in all my fluids (I'm already over the 64 oz goal). It's important to get plenty of fluids - so keep sipping!

@@mssn147 It depends on your plan. That's what my plan required - although I was able to have celery (thankfully). If you have any questions about what you can have - you should contact your nutritionist or surgeon's office.

@@westonmark Dark urine can be a sign of dehydration. This can be very dangerous - so be sure to increase your fluids. If you have any other signs of dehydration - give your surgeon a call.

Feet falling asleep while on the toilet

I would be worried about clots this soon after surgery - so be sure to talk to your surgeon. I've been wearing my lovely and sexy T.E.D. stockings post-op (also a week).

    snacks

I am allowed 4-6 small meals a day - 3 hrs apart. No "snacking" really. If you're going to snack - be sure it's protein (cheese, a slice of chicken, cottage cheese, greek yogurt). Try not getting into the habit of grazing.

@@Butterflywarrior Welcome to the Loser's Bench. Keep walking and moving. I rocked back and forth just sitting in a chair. I moved my arms around even just lying in bed. Good luck!

    Not the ending I thought.

@@thisbouquet I agree with @@Babbs - get a second or third opinion. Don't give up! If surgery is not an option - see what else you can do to lose weight. Use all the tools you learned in preparing for the sleeve to change your eating habits. I can only imagine how disappointed you are but please don't let this defeat you. Stay strong!

    Possible weight gain?

Did you weigh yourself to see if you gained? You could be bloated and that's why clothes feel tight. Reducing calories is not always the way to go - you need to be sure you're getting enough protein and fluids. Starving yourself isn't wise - you'll screw up your metabolism.

    Periods post op

Your hormones are all out of whack from burning fat. Don't panic! Take a home pregnancy test if you are that concerned but I'm sure it's just your hormones.
  19. Peanut butter has a lot of calories and fat and often sugars so it's something you need to be careful with and limit. Try PB2 though - you get the peanut butter taste and better macros.

    What soups?

On the full liquid stage - we don't need to stop drinking before having something like soup. It's only when we move on to purees.
  23. KristenLe

    What soups?

Just keep an eye on labels. Tomato soup (Campbell's) is a favorite of mine pre-op. I just looked and it has 12 gms sugar and the 2nd ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. Not a good option unfortunately. I am going to make some homemade broccoli cheddar soup (blended) when I'm able to have soups. That way you can control the ingredients. Some low fat soups have added sugars to make them taste better (same with other fat free foods). You're better off with the fat than the sugar.
