    Cravings

At 3 weeks - it's important to measure your portions and not eat more than allowed or suggested on your plan. My plan indicates only 1-2 ozs at that point. It's too early for your stomach to be able to communicate to your brain that you are full. You don't want to eat until you feel full - just satisfied.

    6/27 buddies?

@@charley27 I'm pre-op but wanted to let you know you will have more restriction once you move to more sense proteins. Get all your protein and water - the weight will come off.

    Wow - that's great! Congrats!
  9. I've been very nice so far but I'm getting a little pissed off at my Program for not having their acts together and ordering my pre-op testing! I want this done!

      Caribear

If it were me, I would very politely pester them every day until they did what they needed to do. I have had to do this in the past, not being rude or anything, but making myself a "pleasant nuisance" until they got their acts together.

    Why different pre-op diets?

@@LoveAlwaysKia It depends on the Dr, the patient and the Program. I will be following my surgeon's instructions because I don't want to find out "if it's really necessary".
  11. Oh my...that's not good advice! Some smoothies have 100 gms of sugar. Drink good quality - high protein low sugar protein drink(s) until you can eat enough to be able to get adequate calories.

    First Time Dating... Ever

Have you thought about therapy for dealing with self confidence issues? I think we all could benefit from it. Now, if I were 22 again - I'd smile at a cute cowboy at the dancehall and see what happens. ????. But I'm 48 and in a relationship and so thankful I don't have to do the whole dating thing again (although I wouldn't mind flirting with a cute cowboy or 2. I avoided relationships for many years and finally decided I needed to do something and joined online dating. Just relax, be yourself and have fun!

    Service dog

@@Frenchie1977 Call your hospital to see what you need to do. Will someone be with you that could wait with your dog during the operation and in recovery room? There's some issues with the law that require the handler to be in direct control. Find out how your hospital handles this type of issue. Best of luck!

    Weight loss before surgery

You need to talk to your surgeon's office. All plans (insurances) have different requirements with that 6 month supervised diet. Some require weight loss and no gain, others require no loss but no gain, some it doesn't matter, etc. Some surgeons require a weight loss (not insurance related.).

    Cigna... Denial question

You are not an employee of Cigna - so I assume they mean your employer. I would call Cigna and explain you have worked for same company for 25 years. Don't let them get away with this BS.

    Headache

I can't see what forum this is but I'm assuming you're post-op. Have you taken your blood pressure? If it's really bad - I'd call your surgeon (especially on blood thinners). It could be allergies, dehydration, caffeine withdrawal (depending on how long you've been without) or something serious. Don't rely on what others take - best to call your surgeon.

    Does anyone regret their surgery?

You can always make a pizza alternative or just the toppings. Pizza is the one food I told my Psych I can't live without. ????
  19. My surgeon doesn't require more than one day liquid diet (day before surgery).
  20. They said I don't need to do a liquid diet. I will anyways a week before. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Why are you doing one anyway? Don't stress your body or mind anymore than you have to. Eat healthy and follow your surgeon's guidelines.

What happens if I am denied? Please help.

@@Carolyn2167 Take a deep breath and relax. Your surgeon's office would know what the requirements are before submitting. If you qualify in terms of your BMI, etc - I wouldn't stress about it. Call your insurance for a status!
  22. @@TracyBar I believe they remove enough of the stomach to reduce the Ghrelin hormone (hunger hormone) and the part of the stomach that can stretch. As you are losing weight rapidly - the hormones stored in your fat are released (hormone dump) and can make you emotional, moody, sad, depressed. Etc (major PMS type symptoms). As long as you know what is causing this and can deal with it (without using food as many of us do pre-op) - you'll get thru it unscathed. You can combat it with exercise. The hormones often increase your sex drive too - so there are some pluses.

    HELP!

It sounds as though you may need more calories with that workout. Try skipping the protein bars (many are high in fats and carbs) and have protein rich food (tuna, cheese stick, chicken, greek yogurt, hummus, cottage cheese). You may need to have 5-6 small meals to get enough protein and calories. Stay strong!
  24. I agree with Ann 100%. I started at a BMI of 42...low end of what insurance will approve. BMI of 37 the day I got my sleeve. At 43 yo yo dieting was taking a toll and health issues were getting more serious. I needed a permanent solution. I think balloon is similar to the band..... Great on paper but doctors are not getting the results and happy patients so it is loosing its popularity quickly. My doc will no longer do bands and never started doing balloons at all.yeah but you guys with higher BMIs have options that we dont so it's very difficult to compare and poo poo one treatment when really, it's the only tool that's on offer. The OP didn't mention her weight / BMI in her initial post. As she later explained, her BMI is too low to qualify her for actual WLS. If I'd known that initially I'd not have bothered to respond. Again, good luck to the OP. it's on the side next to my posts. I don't think the balloon is offered for obese and plus or BMi over 35 because the loss is lower (unless as in the UK were they use it to safely lower extremely obese people's BMIs ready for surgery)We can't see your stats from the phone app.
