Hope it doesn't impact your surgery! Glad you are doing better.

Severe esophagus erosion after too much fill!

@@betsylulu2525 I haven't had surgery yet but wanted to say that you had great success losing 110lbs and gaining 10 back does not put you anywhere near whale status!!! Give yourself credit for doing as good as you have! You are probably retaining fluids - be sure to drink plenty of water (add lemon), reduce sodium intake and try to relax! Getting married is exciting and stressing about 10lbs when you lost 110 is going to take away from your excitement and fun over the next few weeks! Many blessings for a beautiful wedding and happy life! You can deal with these health issues after the wedding!

How long in hospital and off work?

This is dangerous. You will end up readmitted and out for a lot longer than if you took the initial time to heal. You can't possibly work 48 hours or less after major surgery.
  5. @@LadyStardust With something as serious as this - I would not wait for an email from your surgeon. Please call and speak to him and find out what he recommends. If you are having suicidal thoughts - please ask someone to bring you to the nearest ER for medical/Psych evaluation. If there's no one to drive you - please call 911! I'm very concerned for your well-being!

    How to quit sugar ?!?!?!?

They have salted baked chickpeas that are good too.
  7. I've read... Phone charger, Chapstick, slipper socks (with grips), iPad/Tablet, comfy clothes for ride home. If you search - there was a recent post about this.
  8. @@charlie24 I am pre-op but any pain that is as bad as you describe should be discussed with your surgeon. Let them decide if it's"normal" or not. There's far too many complications that if you aren't sure what's going on - ask your surgeon. It could be normal but could also be serious (blood clot). Don't take any chances.

    BCBS ANTHEM- quick turnaround

You have to finish all the requirements before they submit for approval.
  10. Sorry - just saw this question. Your medical team will review them several times before discharge but this may help ease your mind. http://www.obesitycoverage.com/uncomplicating-gastric-sleeve-complications/

    Complication or coincidence?

@@Evenkeel I had several GB attacks before finally having to have emergency surgery to remove a very enlarged and infected gallbladder. I never once vomited during those attacks. I don't believe the CT scan see sludge either which could be the issue. It's common for GB issues to worsen after WLS. Hope they have some answers and you feel better soon!

    Scared

Those that have complications tend to be more vocal than those who haven't. Yes - this is going to be a difficult journey - but at my weight - I deal with obesity complications every day. I'm willing to take the bad along with the good if the eventual outcome is a healthier me! Part of my therapy was to write a list of answers when I would say "why bother?"... That may help you! Why bother having this surgery?? Stay strong!
  13. Talk to a surgeon about what is the best option for you. Not to be an alarmist but your health is at tremendous risk at your size. I would absolutely consider WLS "again". There's nothing at all to be humiliated about - the surgery couldn't take place - that's not your fault.

    Pepperoni

I would split the bag up in 4ths (each 4th will be a little over an ounce.)
  15. You need to answer questions honestly! This is for your benefit. It's unlikely you would be denied - and if they feel you could use some counseling prior to surgery - it will only help you postop. Good luck! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

So I had a bad day...

@@sharonintx I thought for sure you were going to tell me I have no business commenting! ????. I just started this WLS journey in March! I'm trying to become educated while I wait. I've learned a lot from this forum. I know many don't feel like I have any right to give advice not being a vet - but I'm just passing on what I've learned. I try to remember to say I'm preop. Curiosity, Please help

I'm already approved too. I guess they don't bother putting you thru the pre-op testing until they know insurance is covering surgery.

    Can't lose the 15

    I will update soon.
  19. How much Protein are you getting? Fluids and Proteins are important - don't worry about restricting calories. And 20 lbs is great! Congrats!
  20. You're doing great! We are all different - we will all lose at different rates. Starting at a lower weight than many of us - it may seem slower to you (but it's really not)!

    I AM FREAKING OUT!

Do you have a maximum out of pocket for your insurance? That may help reduce your costs. I don't think there's anything you can do until you can speak to someone on Monday. Speak to a Manager at the hospital - the person calling is only doing as told and doesn't understand all that should be considered. Both the surgeon and hospital want to make sure they don't get screwed on payment. Your insurance should be able to help figure out your true costs. First of all, your 20% copay is based on Allowed Amount (not the hospital charges) so I don't think $6k is going to be your responsibility. Good luck. Keep us posted!
  24. @@jggauthier65 I would certainly get a second, third or fourth opinion. This is not normal and someone needs to figure out what is wrong. Hope things get better!

What I wish I had known...

How did your brother mess up? Did he lose any weight at all? Can you actually gain weight with such a small stomach? It's definitely possible to eat/drink around your sleeve and not be successful or re-gain. It's just a tool - you still need to do the work.
