    Use the Bathroom

Thank you so much Lisa! You're right I haven't eaten any solids I just been on Water, broths and shakes but I am having a little discomfort like I need to empty Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Try walking more and getting more fluids. My Program suggests baby prunes before going to any RX treatment.

    Full

Just take it slow. Fluids won't typically fill you up- they go right thru sleeve. I'm able to take normal sips already(1 week PO) and it's made it easier to get my fluids in.
  3. @@laura1116 You can't go by your weight this early out. You're probably still dealing with the fluids from the IVs and swelling. Stay off the scale. Calories are not the concern either - are you meeting your plans fluid goals?

    October sleevers?

Be careful with lettuce - it usually isn't digested easily.

    first day

You can get through 1 more day! Mine was 2 weeks. Good luck!

    Weight

Stalls are common. Be sure you are following the plan- getting enough protein and fluids and the weight will come off.

    Is it possible?

@@coodaben I figure it was give up a few things now or live a shorter life and give up everything in a few years. Coffee in moderation is allowed on many plans. There's not many foods that are truly taboo and most have healthy alternatives anyway. Good luck on your pre-op diet. It's not easy but you are preparing your body for a safer surgery and your mind in a better place for post-op.

    Temptations everywhere ...

    He would be my ex-boyfriend!!!!
  9. This isn't about hunger. By having a pretzel and wingettes - you are not satisfying hunger - you are satisfying cravings. It's extremely dangerous as well! You could cause a leak and die from complications. Believe me - I know it's difficult but you need to get your head in the game. You had major surgery (think about what your stomach looks like) and it's important to give yourself time to heal. Getting over cravings and head hunger is critical to healing and success. Your loss so far is excellent so lower your expectations or you will be disappointed. You have staples holding your stomach together - stretching it can easily cause a leak - is it really worth that bite of pretzel or chicken wings. Remember why you had surgery - don't throw away this opportunity. I'm not being mean - I'm being real. This is a real problem and you need to get control over it.
  10. You need to follow your prescribed plan. It's not necessarily about liquids - it's about low carb and shrinking your liver. If you are required to do a clear liquid diet - then it's important to do only clear liquids. Smoothies are typically loaded with sugar and calories- and not allowed on any pre-op diet. You may be able to have Protein shakes but again - that depends on your plan. You should have been given I and if not - call your surgeon's office.

Cheated 5 days after my sleeve

This isn't Weight Watchers. It's major surgery. The post op diet isn't a suggestion. It's mandatory for your health and well being. Do you know what a leak is? I really wish some of these surgeons would read these forums. The would think twice about who they would operate on. I didn't have the sleeve I had the bypass so leaks really Dont happen with bypass Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App Do you really think that you can't have a leak with RNY? I would do some research to see the many complications of RNY including leaks.

Cheated 5 days after my sleeve

No - do not do this! This is a form of an eating disorder. You also can get calories and sugars from doing this - and you start the digestive process and can cause problems with increased stomach acid. You just had major surgery- you need to deal with your head hunger and cravings another way!

How is your weight loss going?

It depends on your starting weight. It is not typical to lose 15-20 lbs only 7-10 days out. I don't think there's a norm. Everyone is different. Don't compare yourself to others - it'll drive you crazy! Congrats on your loss so far - that's awesome.
  14. It really depends on your starting weight /BMI. Weight loss can't be predicted. Everyone is different. Follow your plan and you're losing at the rate that's right for you.

    Any eat quinoa?

They're allowed on my plan at that stage but need to be blended to a mushy consistency.

    Fluids and protein.

@@kcap68 Getting enough fluids and protein is a full time job. You need both for proper healing and weight loss. At 3 weeks out - you may still need to supplement with protein powder or shakes. Even if you aren't hungry - you need to eat on schedule. Set a timer if necessary. Eat 4-6 small meals of protein and drink shakes or other fluids 30-60 mins after. Your body will start breaking down muscle if you don't get adequate protein. Try drinking smaller sips if you get uncomfortable. I did better with warm or hot liquids at first.
  17. I've never lost hair following anesthesia until this surgery. I'm not sure if it's a combo of things but I had a pillow full of hair in the hospital. The CNA even mentioned it. :-(

    Shake time

Remember it's only temporary and it's going to prepare your body for a safer surgery and your mind to deal with head hunger and cravings now before surgery. Take advantage of whatever is allowed on your plan and don't go to long without something. Always have something allowed available. Good luck!

    October Surgery Buddies

I've been sleeping on my side since the night of surgery. I have very little pain or even soreness in my abdomen. It's unusual but I'm not complaining - I sleep for 10 hours a night. Hope you can sleep better soon!
  20. @@anywon Please do yourself a favor and stop providing these benefits to this "friend". He sounds like he's using you and because you don't have much confidence or self esteem - you are allowing it. What would you tell your daughter or best friend if they were in this type of relationship? WLS is a tool to help - but it's a lot of work and not a magic wand. You need to deal with any addiction issues before surgery. Go to a therapist to learn to deal with this - and how to deal with your relationship with yourself! This surgery is more mental than physical so it's important to be in a good place. If you continue to have sex with someone who is making the rounds with others as well - please be safe! Don't settle - this has nothing to do with your weight.

    4oz mushy food

Mine has a time limit too. Mushy food can slide through your sleeve quickly so it's easier to eat more. Stick with the recommended portion size. Mine is only 1-2 ozs and working up to 4 ozs by 6 weeks.
  22. KristenLe

    Protein

Protein is critical. You need to find something you can tolerate. There's so many options. Your body will start to break down muscle without adequate protein.

    Any eat quinoa?

Quinoa is recommended on my plan.
  24. KristenLe

    Any eat quinoa?

It depends on your plan. If full liquids- hummus is usually not allowed yet. Tuna should be ok once you're on puree or soft foods. You need to blend it to a mushy consistency. Do you have a diet plan from your surgeon?

    Need answers..

Keep reminding yourself why you had WLS. Write a list of all the great things you want to do once you've lost weight and go over it at times you need inspiration. Remember that this is temporary. You can enjoy food again - just healthy choices and smaller portions. Picture new clothes you want to buy - maybe to wear to something special. If it's really difficult now - skip dinner with the family. I would hope they'd understand. Stay strong!!!! I admire you doing this so young - you're really giving yourself a chance at a wonderful life!!! I know it's probably more difficult for you but it really will be worth it!!!
