  1. I was banded 5/23 and on my 1st post op visit my doctor just said to keep doing what I was. I was on liquids only. I was on 3 weeks liquids. I was told mushies for 1 week but no real portion control. They said that eat only 1/2cup to 1 cup. I 'm lucky cause I haven't had whole lot of hunger. I just try to get 50-60 of Protein. I've used the New whey tubes of protein that have 42 grams of protein. I used 1/2 at a time. I'm waiting for a first fill at 6 weeks. I would ask for a food plan if they have one for whatever stage they put you on.
  2. I'm about 10 days ahead of you. I don't think you are eating enough. I found that I needed extra protein to make me feel better while I was on liquid. I found some protein liquid that contains 42 grams of protein. I read about it on this forum. I found it at GNC. Little tubes of orange flavor, mixed punch, I just add them to any juice. Some people drink them straight.

    Newbie

I don't seem to mind it once I'm there. Some days the time goes fast others it seems so slow. I'm lucky and enjoy swimming after a workout. Best way for me to stretch some muscles. Right now I took off for 6 weeks cause of the surgery and I can't imagine going back. Doctor said I could go back now but no way. I just don't want to. I love being lazy. I still have 3 plus years to work. Stairs are great exercise and gardening too. Up and down yep, good exercise. My only focus is not giving into to my head hunger. And that very hard.....

    Newbie

Hello all I am just 3 plus weeks out of surgery and doing good. I wonder if any of you are having a hard time getting the exercising in. I am just being lazy and wishing the band could do it all. I have managed 2 days this past week to get to the gym but I know it should be more like 4 or 5. I need to get out and move. What is your motivation..

You are on your way. It will be only a matter time. Keep the faith and you will be banded before you now it.

You just have to continue to post. I want to hear all the wisdom that you have gained. Yes wisdom. You have succeeded with the band and given countless of us insight to gain our own success. Your new journey, is one you didn't wish for but when a door closes you have to open another. I know you will succeed with the sleeve although I don't envy anyone with 2 months of liquids. Good luck from another AZ person.

    i'm a mesa, az bandster!

I have to wait 6 weeks for a fill and I'm only 3 weeks out. The mushie stage. Must admit anything is better than broth. Seems that my doc is on the conservative side. Just hope the weight keeps coming off.
  9. I'm curious what some people get as their first fill. How many CC's. I know that different bands are different sizes so that must be taken into account. I am just 3 weeks out and my doctor is one that waits at least 6 weeks and checks if you are till losing weight. If you are then the fill gets pushed back. I forgot to ask what goes into the band and what stays in the port tubing on a first fill. I would think the tubing holds fluild too. Again I'm just curious and woud lke to get an idea of the different ranges that doctors use. I have a realize band. Thanks for any information.

How much was your 1st fill

I really didn't think of cost but good to know I was wondering more on how much of a fill did each person get.

    Still Weak?

Stay tuned... I want your engery!! I still am on liquids till friday.. You look like you are off to a great start...

    Still Weak?

I was banded one day later than youand I do feel that I lack the engery I had before. But I have been on the lazy side the past two weeks. Haven't done much walking but started the 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday with another 15 on eliptical trainer(easiest level). I think that will build back up my strenght. Hopefuly the scale will continue it's downward trend.

    Very Discouraged-Any Advise?

I have to say that's one reason I'm not telling many people. The comments are stupid and hurtful. Who wants to be judged all the time. They are not you and as everybody says weightloss is a very individual thing. The two on WW are using a buddy system, why don't they invite you to join them in the process, so you are using different ways, the MAIN GOAL is the same. I to am a little on the tired side and don't want to excericse but will make it a point to do something to get it in, maybe not everyday but definatly more than I am doing now. I would use us here in the forum as your buddy to keep you going cause we all will probably all run into a problem like yours ourselves. The struggle continues...

    It Figures......

Just your luck, but on the bright side you have a nice vacation ahead without any worries. I would just enjoy your vacation and start on the little things they all tell us . Drink/slip water and slow down and chew chew chew when we eat and excercise.
  15. Sounds like it's adjustment time. And probably you didn't drink enough water to curb some of the hunger pains. Good to see you still walked though.
  16. Newme76, I to was banded on May 23. I can help but jump on the scale each morning. I wish I had your willpower not to keep jumping on the scale. But it does keep me motiviated. Seems we all are going good.
  17. Waynette, I would talk to the doctor or admitting nurse that you need a specialist to get a vein with your past history. No they didn't give me a happy pill before surgery just the regular deep breaths and you're out. The rest of the surgery and recovery has been really easy. (not the eating or should I say drinking part)
  18. I am two weeks out and am looking forward to the following weeks and getting back to real food. Funny thing is I am looking forward to salads. I was wondering how much salad do you eat? I know about the 2 - 4 ouches of protein and carbs but how do you measure salad? Thanks for the input.
  19. Lanejane, I to, am 2 weeks post op. I have ben okay since surgery but have not gotten my ass in gear and started to exercise. Thank God food hasn't been an overwhelming desire (only once when I could have tackled my hubby for his garlic bread it smelled so good.) I've been lazy. Two weeks of not working has been heavenly. I know that exercise is another tool and I should get my bike out and ride. So seeing your post thst'd what I'm going to do. I agree with you sometimes your desire for food can change. I was worried about not having soda (pepsi addict here) and I have been okay for the last 2 1/2 weeks without it. I am surprised. See the doc o monday and hoping to move to mushies for added variety. We all have to keep the faith on this long journey to our newselves.
  20. Wow what a great amount of protein. I will have to go out today and see if I can find some. Thanks for the tip...
  21. I also was required to attend a seminar. Actually I have attended 3. I was interested in the doctors that did the surgery and all 3 gave seminars that they spoke at. It gave me a idea of what the doctors were like. All the seminars were free and there some good questuins asked and answere.

    Day 10

I think this is the best place to vent. Most all bandesters go through this hell. The liquid faze whether before or after surgery is HARD. Our minds always think of food, the TV shows all that we are missing, it's plain hard. I too am about 10 days out and can't wait till real food is back on my list of approved foods. Although I am not looking forwrd to the PB that may come. I hope I can remember small small bites and chew chew chew.
  23. GG. I wish you well on your journey, because to me that exactly what it is. My PCP wasn't thrilled with WLS but I did my best to convince him that was what I wanted to do. Five months later here I am banded. I still wonder about the journey because I know I will doubt myself sometimes, but the future I look forward to is one where I can move freely without pain (knees hurt) walk into a store and not be told we don't carry your size, or go to fun parks and not have to check the weight allowed or size of the seats. That is freedom and a great life.
