I am I the only Failure

I am so sorry you are going through this. Probably the only thing I would do, is ask for written instructions as to what they expect you to do prior to surgery so NOT to have a repeat. If a certain weight loss is required. How much? This way there should be no unexpected surprises. We are at their mercy even though we are the ones that pay them.

My first fill Tues July 7!!!

Jorge, I am getting my first fill 7/11. I was banded on May 23. So far I have been lucky and have not been really hungry. That's not to say I haven't eaten. Boredom and just mindless eating are my problems. Sometimes my choices are not very good. But this is a RELEARNING PROCESS and I will learn to do better. Hopefully today you will see that the doctors and staff are there to help and encourage us to get to our goals. This from a west valley girl to an east valley one.. Good luck

I am I the only Failure

I to would talk to the doctor and tell him that no one said anything about what was required before surgery. This seems so unfair since you had lost weight. The doctor should explain why NOW 30 pounds to lose. I would check with insurance and ask for another surgeon. Lots of extra work but maybe better for you.
  4. Go to the website pick what you want then copy the code and paste it to your signature site big block on the personal profile. It comes up as numbers but the ticket tape shows somehow. As for excerise I've been bad and only go to the gym 2 times a week. I do about 20 minutes on eliptical and 20 minutes on treadmill. I should be better.

    Help!!! Have i failed???

Jorge, make tomorrow your new start date. Call your doctor for a fill. The band allows us all to start again. I too did well before and right after surgery but now 6 weeks out and I badly need my first fill. Anything can and will go down my mouth and I need to stop it now.. First fill scheduled 7/11.
  6. Every doctors office is different. What mine tells me is volume is important. Either 1/3cup protein 1/3 vegies 1/3 carbs. Or 1/2 cup protein 1/2 cup vegies. I have not had a fill yet and can eat anything. I hopefully will feel some restriction with my first fill.
  7. I have be banded since 5/23 and have really no restriction. I did well on liquids but am having trouble with real food. I still wonder how you measure 1 cup with things like salad or cherries. Any suggestions would REALLY HELP. Scheduled for first fill 7/11.

Prayers needed for a fellow bandster

Best of wishes for a healthy and speedy recovery. The struggles of weight loss seems to come in a variety of ways. Get passed one and something else pops up. Again many of us send well wishes to you.
  9. All the surgeries can have complications, it's up to you to see what you can live with. Most of us here wanted the least invasive surgery and something that could be removed usually without any damage. Check a thread by Wassabubblebut.she had the sleeve done after problems with the band. Lots of info out there. She had great sucess with the band.
  10. I use Kelloggs protein water, they have 5 grams of protein. The other thing I use is a shot of protein that I get at GNC store. It has 42 grams of protein and I usally split in two and mix it with water or grape juice. Some people drink it straight. Most people will tell you that your body can only retain 20 grams at a time.
  11. That's what got me into trouble before the band. I love to snack. My doctor said 3 meals and try not to eat between meals. I have found that alot of my hunger was just head hunger and boredom.. I'm trying now to drink water or protein water when I am tempted to snack.
  12. You might try the boards where people were banded in 2007. You might get more reponses with people who have had the band longer.
  13. Hopefully you are feeling better today. I am sorry to hear about the fill problems. Remember my favorite is 1% chocolate milk and 17 grams of protein.

Any May Realize bandits out there?

Maybe they will go in from above the site. I would hate to think they go through the incision line.

Any May Realize bandits out there?

I have to wait till July 11 to get my first fill in the realize band. I was banded on May 23. I lost about 10 pounds since surgery but since real food came into play I have just about stayed the same. I have to admit to not really exercising so that's my fault. Barely twice a week to the gym. I keep telling myself get my ass in gear. Good to hear about all the differences in fill quantites reminds me that all people are different.
  16. I was told 4 weeks or until the incisions healed. If they are not healed/closed you can get an infection and major trouble. I saw my doctors 17 days after surgery and I asked him about swimming and I had healed and allowed me to swim that day.
  17. Thank you for the tips. I was beginning to worry about the amount of food I was eating. I try and keep calories at 1200 and try and keep portions at 1/2cup to 1 cup. Haven't really lost much compared to the first two weeks but feel really good. Again thanks for the tips.
  18. Vegas Grace. You have done super. I only hope to suceed like you. I am just 4 weeks out and now face the reality of real food and my ability to chose wisely. I would love some hints on what you ate early on. I find it odd that my doctors office doesn't really set down a set of guidelines or actual plan to follow. I just kept hearing was drink your fluids and your in your heaing stage don't worry. Okay I'm starting to worry.
  19. If you have sick time or vacation time you usually can use that. It is not a form of paid leave. Just a law that doesn't punish people for having to take time off for illness, caring for a child or parent, or under going medical treatment.
  20. FLMA is a federal law and applies to almost all businesses. You may not be paid for time taken but it should NOT be a reason for removal from your job. You are allowed 12 weeks FLMA. Talk to you HR dept if you have one. I'm taking 6 weeks FLMA.

Doctor will definately want a food diary. I would start on and look at it. See whats different now from what you remember you ate 6 months ago when you didn't have the problem. Any brand changes of food that may have triggard it. Just some thoughts. Good luck and great going on the weight loss.
