  1. Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've checked in. I hope everyone is doing well on their journeys. I'm afraid I'm not.. I'll be 6 months post op on 4/27. I've only lost 58lbs and have been stalled since early March. I tend to have very long stalls (like 4-6weeks!) then lose 3lbs then another long stall and so forth. I have a bell shaped sleeve instead of a regular/banana shaped one and I'm told maybe that's why I didn't lose my appetite and don't fill up as quickly... I've been killing myself in the gym almost daily and started walking/jogging my son to daycare (in his stroller) in the mornings to get active twice a day. I'm on MyFitnessPal and my boyfriend just got me a Fitbit last month. I get in 17k steps, 75-90 mins of active exercise, and burn 3k cals a day on most days...get about 60oz of Water. What on earth am I doing wrong?!

  2. I have similar stats. My doc told me I could expect to lose 60% of my excess fat which is only about 65lbs.. I would still be in the 200s too. I'm determined to defy her but at 3months post off I've been stalled at 42lbs down over a month. I'm beginning to believe I'm not going to lose much more even though I'm working out and following my plan

  3. I would count that as a blessing. I am 10 weeks out and still get hungry like you did initially.

Can I ask what your typical menu is?

I don't know if you were referring to me but if it'll help any i don't have a set menu. I try to stick to low carb. 50g carbs and under, 60 to 70g Protein and at least 64oz of Water. Most days im good. But others i struggle. I try to log everything. Even the "bad" foods, which of im being honest I've had way more of than i should. I've been taking sips of things like full sugar soda. Which is dangerous. Especially since it's very uncomfortable. But after this last time that's a non issue. I've been slipping but on my good days I'll have as follows:

    Bk: boiled egg

    Snack: half a greek yogurt

Lunch: 2 to 3 oz of meat Protein

    Snack: 1oz cheese stick

Dinner: 2oz meat protein .5oz veg maybe a carb but usually not

Snack: last half of Greek yogurt maybe 2.5 oz.

I have no food scale as of yet but plan on it in the very near future. I think meal planning is in this vein. What's does your food consist of if you don't mind me asking? I seriously need meal suggestions and ideas. Sorry this is so long im really struggling. Going back to my shakes until i can get a better handle on my food.

Torriluv... you are doing wonderfully this far but please, whatever you do.. back away from the full sugar soda. You know it's not good and knowing is half the battle :-)..

Try using MyFitnessPal to log food. It's really helped me. I'm also GigiinDC there if you need a friend. There is a MyFitnessPal thread here too you can search for and add others from that thread. I was never one to log food until I found MyFitnessPal.. makes it easy. You can also get meal ideas on there from friends food logs, but so far you seem to be doing great , besides the soda. The more you cut complex carbs and high sugar foods out the less you will crave them.

Also-- a food scale will definitely help. I just got - great one two weeks ago on Amazon for $14.99.

    Hope that helps!

  4. Thanks everyone. I'm just amazed cause I had a huge appetite up until this week. Now nothing.

I also don't have a typical menu but I definitely stay under 50g carbs, usually under 25, and 60-85 g Protein . On Keto I end up eating a lot of bacon, eggs, meatballs , cottage cheese, organic turkey deli meat and low lactose cheeses, salmon and broccoli or string Beans. I added sauerkraut and bone broth for GAPS. I get almost no grains and zero fruit. Amazingly I stopped craving carbs almost immediately after starting Keto... that was the first craving to go away. Now I really don't crave anything so I'm forcing myself to eat.

  5. @whitesale

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Im going on three months post op and have had no less than 4/FOUR crazy long stalls. That's crazy, right! It happens. Trust me it will get better. I did the Keto diet starting at about a month ago to jumpstart weight loss again after an almost three week stall. It's not for everyone but it works for me. I was hungry as hell everyday until last week now I've suddenly lost all hunger. The one thing I've learned is that your body will react to this sleeve differently from week to week. If you stay on your plan you will progress eventually! I promise.

I'm going to start working out on Tuesday and can't wait!!

  6. Vets, please help.

I'll be three months out on Friday. I had never really lost my hunger and was completely ravenous from weeks 2-11. Suddenly I have zero hunger whatsoever. I only eat because I know I have to and when out to dinner with my boyfriend. I'm on the Keto and modified Gaps diets (gaps because my son who has sensory issues is now on gaps and I'm trying this gross bone broth and sauerkraut mess, and Keto because it kicks me out of stalls and I don't crave carbs one bit on it). Is it the Keto that is suddenly suppressing my hunger or is it the sleeve suddenly starting to suppress my hunger like others have had all along?

Like I said I was starving every single day since starting purée stage! Is it normal to suddenly lose appetite around this time? Will it come back again? Not that I necessarily want it back.. I just think this is odd. I'm not feeling full, but just not hungry at all.

  7. Totally normal! Get your Water in. Try Crystal lite or drink your Water only ice cold. Also walk around more or so exercise to for 20mins a day .. then maybe change your diet a bit.. cut down carbs for example. The little changes make a huge difference. That's my experience anyway.. I'm already 10 weeks out and am on my third stall! Some of us have to constantly things up to lose weight (less restriction than others ). It sucks but you will get through it.

  8. So usually I get really mad when I see a bunch of judgmental comments when people admit to cheating but this post doesn't even acknowledge there's a problem with this picture. Even the shrimp scampi would have been difficult at 23 days. I had a plain shirt cocktail at a holiday reception at about 8 weeks out and couldn't even eat half a shrimp. I can understand why if out on a date or out with friends who don't know you were sleeved you may feel embarrassed to order something sleeve appropriate (I've been there), but seriously there must have been some other choices. I think as long as you explain you are on a diet people accept that. Say you want to stick to the Soup or appetizers and you are on a low carb diet. Get sauces on the side...

I am glad you followed your plan and had the "plain shirt cocktail" at only 8 weeks out. At 12 weeks you can have a sweater cocktail when your stomach is more healed. :)

    (Don't you just love autocorrect).

LOL!! Autocorrect is sooo much fun, isn't it! Shrimp was ok on my plan but I couldn't tolerate it at 8 weeks.
