I drove two days after. For me there wasn't any limitations that said I couldn't. In fact, I was going to drive myself home from surgery as I was 24 hours post anesthesia. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Had surgery a few days ago
Jodi C replied to careya123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I would call the surgeon. I didn't sleep much the day (night) that I spent in the hospital. But did sleep almost the entire first day home. However, the next day I went to an Easter party on a small family ranch and hung out all day and walked around a lot of the time. I do get a solid 8-10 hours of sleep each night but wake up rested and ready to go. I know that "normal" after this surgery is different for everyone but still worth checking out. I have Blue Shield of California. An HMO plan non the less that covered everything except $25 co pay visits for appointments and $200 for surgery co pay. I paid less than $300. I started with my PCP who put a referral in to see an in network doctor for my evaluation. And from there, I needed authorization to see the psychologist, nutritionist, and sleep study doc. But once authorizations were approved it was just my co pay. Also, I should note that I had called my insurance before I did anything and knew exactly what was needed to be approved. I was only 24 hours liquid. I have had no pain or side effects from surgery. Have not needed any of the nausea/pain medications. Only 5 days out but down 10 pounds. I'm already sick of fluids, can't imagine doing 2 months prior to surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

That dietician sounds like a piece of work. That visit wasn't about her. It's about you. Who cares what she's done or can do. If you want this surgery, you CAN lose the weight. Focus on you and all the reasons you want this and forget the nutritionist who was rude and unprofessional at your visit. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Congrats to you!!!! I just had surgery last Tuesday. You will be fine but it is normal to be anxious prior to any surgery or life changing situation. You WILL do great!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I didn't try any before surgery but knew from previous experience that I did not like the pre mixed Protein in aluminum cans. I also knew I needed at least x amount of protein and below x amount of carbs and calories. And I also knew I was over the same 'ol strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla flavors. So I looked on line to see what I could find and personally feel I struck gold. It is optimum nutrition and they have their own website and also sold online at GNC and other nutrition stores. The best part is their flavors: cupcake batter, salted caramel, key lime, caramel toffee fudge, rocky road, and others. I blend it with ice and take a sip every few minutes. I originally ordered 4 and ordered 4 more today. My 9 and 11 year old even love it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
