    Another setback, long.

I had super heavy periods when I was on blood thinners, my Gyne did an endometrial ablation (cauterized the lining of my uterus) and I have not had a period since. Of course I don't know if this is contradicted with getting pregnant but you could ask. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Bariatric weightloss medications

My clinic has me on Saxenda (liraglutide) injections until I have my surgery. It kills your appetite. It's not cheap though, here in Alberta it's not covered if it is used for weight loss only if it is used for diabetes. I hope I get my date soon because the cost is killing me. I don't think 62 is too old, go for the surgery if you want it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  3. I am in Edmonton and in the middle of the process with AHS. I have finally met with the surgeon and will take the first of the surgery classes in September (I miss the August class because I am on vacation). I am probably looking at surgery in early 2017. What to eat

I think she was asking what people are eating once they are on full solids, you know, to get an idea of what her future will be like - doing her research like indicated above. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Who do you want to be after?

More than anything in the world I want to be able to wear boots, tall or short but especially tall. My legs are really fat and the way the fat goes to my ankle makes it impossible to wear short boots. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Any Canadians RNY

I am in Edmonton. I haven't had surgery yet but have finally had my consult with a surgeon. It is a really long drawn out process in Alberta. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  9. I also have factor V Leiden thrombophilia and my surgeon is wanting me to have the bypass. I asked him if the longer surgery will be a problem and he said it is only a matter of half hour difference. He will be working with my hematologist to prevent blood clots during and after surgery. I have had a DVT twice in the same leg and the second time it went to a PE. I still haven't decided between the sleeve and the bypass but I do have GERD so will probably go with the bypass. Looking for others in Canada

Yes, I need to do the bone density (I haven't scheduled it yet) and in July I go for an endoscopy (I have GERD). I don't see the dietician until October.

    Looking for others in Canada

I'm in Edmonton too. I just met with the surgeon on Apr 28 but don't start my pre-op classes until Sept. I could have gotten into the Aug class but I am away on vacation then. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  12. I live in Alberta and it is an extremely long process to get surgery. I have been attending the bariatric clinic for about 13 months and will finally have my initial assessment with the surgeon on April 28. After that I will still have to wait 12ish months for the surgery. They only do about 400 surgeries a year here, that are paid for, I can't afford to pay for it myself. 13. Hi Everyone, I am at the point in my journey where I have to decide which surgery I want. I am leaning towards the sleeve but I know that my surgeon (I meet with him on April 28) is going to recommend the bypass, I have GERD. I was just wondering if anyone has done any foreign travel since they have had the bypass? Travelling is my passion and I travel to a lot of 3rd world countires where food choices might not be optimum and rice is usually a staple of my diet. I am worried I am going to spend my whole time travelling worrying about dumping when I may not be near a bathroom (as is often the case when I am on a tour). Can you please let me know how you made out? Thanks so much.
