Started my pureed diet today also. I swore I was not going to puree meat, but I cooked the ground turkey, then blended it with Tuscan (Rosemary, basil, thyme) chicken broth and mixed it into mashed sweet potatoes. It was pretty tasty... who knew.

Try Nioxin shampoo and conditioner or one of their treatment sets. It's a bit expensive but it works.

Sleeved August 8th, 2016
walkermy replied to Tami_Lynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 9th. My first two days at home went just fine, then as you said, I started taking bigger drinks. I got no sleep last night due to gas pain. Today I am back to little sips. -
How much did you lose the first week
walkermy replied to izarigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained 6 lbs in the hospital, due to the IV fluids. I have been home 48 hours and have dropped 10 lbs. Again it was the IV fluids. Now I plan to stay off the scale until my two week post op visit. -
Saw my doc; she recommended a surgeon - but found this Tweet by him! Not sure I like this guy much
walkermy replied to TracyBar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I often tell my trainer and other's "I don't run, you know why? because I'm fat, fat people don't run, if I ran, I wouldn't be fat" He was the recipient of a tweet that was funny. -
The struggle is real and why I'm going through with it.
walkermy posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here I am less than 36 hours before I take my seat on the losers bench. Currently on day 12 on my 14 day liquid diet. Pause to knock on wood, I made it with out cheating and no major craving episodes. Hopped on the scale this morning and I'm down 14 lbs since my pre-op visit, 36 since I started this journey in March 2016. Someone today applauded my weight loss and commented, that if I can do this without surgery, why am I having surgery. Well my friend I said with a smile on my face. These 5 months have prepared me for the rest of my life. See, I've lost massive amounts of weight before, once I took phentermine and lost about 50 lbs, of course when I got off the drug I gained about seventy. About 7 years ago I went on a high Protein, low carb diet, joined a gym and exercised 6 days a week. I lost a whopping 90 lbs, of course along came a job change, a new roommate, a change in habits.... and I gained 110, imagine going to bed one night wearing a size 10 and waking up in the morning wearing a size 22. I know it didn't happen like that, but that's what it felt like happened. See yo yo dieting is real, the struggle is real, and the mind and body play tricks on you. Each time you lose and gain your metabolism slows, your mind tricks you into craving the sweet, the fatty, the salty. Your body wants more, and it stores more (fat that is). That's only part of my story, but you get the drift. I've gone through it, and that's why I am going through with it. -
You don't have to tell her anything, it's none of her business. You need time off point blank period. Also for her information liposuction is not weight loss surgery. SMH.

Question about blood pressure
walkermy replied to biglady904's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you taking your BP at the same time everyday. What were you doing prior to taking your pressure. Make sure you tell your physician this important information. Also two weeks is early on, it make take time on your meds before you notice a significant difference in your pressure readings, or it may be that you need a different medication. Most important, talk to your physician if you are concerned. -

Anyone treated for H . pylori
walkermy replied to Gripp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was diagnosed with H. Pylori when I had an upper endoscopy last year. I took a course of antibiotics for treatment. When I started going through the process for WLS one of the things I had to do was take a breath test to determine if the infection had cleared; it had and all is well. -
Make sure you check your co-pay and deductible if you have one. I received a call and follow-up letter from the billing department from the hospital where my surgery will be performed. I was told I had about $1,600 still to meet my deductible and with my percentages I would need to pay about $2000.00 prior to my procedure. I checked myself and based on my calculations it would less than 1000.00. Went for my pre-op today and had them re-work the numbers, billing came back with about $1,200.00. I with the help of the office staff in the bariatric practice, insisted that they re-check again, and wouldn't you know I was right. My co-pay was $900.00.

Tomorrow is the first day of my pre-op liquid diet. I cleaned the fridge of all the contraband and temptations and stocked it with Jello, juices, Gatorade and Protein drinks. Forget running a race, I'm ready to win this marathon.

2nd day of my two week pre-op liquid diet and I have absolutely no appetite. I made sure to cleanse my refrigerator of temptations, and purchased Protein, crystal light, Soups, ices and popsicles. Day one I had to drink a Protein shake at bedtime to meet my protein goals. Today, I have no appetite at all, not for contraband just nothing, drink my protein and had Soup for lunch just because I know I have too. I know day 2, is too early to make any kind of determination of how this will go. I am wondering if anyone else entered their pre-op phase with no appetite?

2 weeks post and feeling weak.
walkermy replied to Swamprat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely check with your surgeon. I thought the water spacing was 1/2 hour before and after meals, but didn't think you had to space your Water and liquid Protein drinks in the two weeks post op. My understanding was to get the protein and 64 oz of other Fluid in so as to not become dehydrated. -
