Hi! I'm new here. I had started the process 2 years ago with Dr. Nusbaum. I was approved and at the same time found out I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. Surprise! So obviously I had to postpone my WLS plans. Fast forward to last month. I went back to Nusbaum, nutritionist, psych eval, they were all ready to submit me and then they realized they don't take new insurance. I'm so upset about this set back but I've done my research and it's lead me to Advanced laperscopic assoc in Paramus. It looks likes they are in my plan tier 1 and I should be good. I'm going this Weds for the seminar. Hopefully I won't have to start completely from Scratch. Im mentally ready to get a move on it and don't want to wait and get nervous. Anyone use Dr. Ewing? Or Dr. Schmidt or Dr. Trivedi? Surgery would be done at Hackensack University. Any feedback would be great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Woohoo!!!! I got a date today!!!! I'm so excited! I'm done with all my pre op stuff. One last appointment next Monday with my primary for the pre op clearance and it seams I'm good to go. At my appointment with the surgeon today we set me up with a date for surgery 4/28! I went right from that apt for bloodwork and the chest extra. Then Monday I'll do the ekg with my primary. I can't wait for this journey to begin! I do not have a pre-op diet by the way. I just have to not eat after midnight the night before and no Advil etc starting now. Found of I'm pregnant right before surgery
taramarie523 replied to Justjune83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This same exact thing happened to me in 2013. You'll have to reschedule. Your approval if the same as mine is good for one year so you can do it right after you have the baby. I didn't make it in the year then I got scared off then had another baby lol now I'm 8 weeks post op. This winter I started the process over I'm so glad I did the surgery but glad it worked out the way it did. Everything happens for a reason this baby is a blessing and you'll have your surgery after don't stress. Congrats. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Anyone get samples to try of different Protein shakes, clear liquid Protein drinks etc? Someone had mentioned to my husband I should go online and have samples sent to me. When I search the different brands I don't see anything for free samples lol anyone have any luck? Did you just buy a few of each to try. I'd hate to buy the big box at costco and the hate it. I remember a nutritionist during a diff diet I was doing a few years ago telling me a Protein shake before bed is good bc it keeps your metabolism burning during your sleep and sustains something with the sugar so you don't get s drop while you sleep which then makes you burn while You sleep. So I finally heard it tonight!

Sounds like she's a little jealous right now and sometimes even the people Who love us most get a little Jealous and insecure and have to try and kick us down (usually to make themselves feel better). Her comment was much more about her and her own insecurities then you. Don't let it hold you back. Let it inspire you to do better in spite. I'm sure she will snap out of it but don't pay that comment any mind. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
6weeks post how much should my calorie intake be for?
taramarie523 replied to lazylyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist said not to worry about calories but to focus on getting the fluids and Protein goal achieved and watching carbs. She said she understands for some people it's hard to get enough calories bc they aren't handling solids as well but you should not be trying to minimize calories if you loose all your weight at 300-500 calories you will need to maintain a 500 calorie diet for life in order to just maintain your weight and at that point it will be nearly impossible. She referenced the biggest looser contestants that they just had this big article about how the wrecked their metabolism by loosing like that with such small caloric intake. Now the grown man has to have a 500 cal diet to just maintain needless to say he's gained all his weight back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Same thing! I'm pleasantly surprised about the transition. I'm down 22 pounds since surgery. 26 since I started the process. This week I've been at that "stall" but that's common I've heard. I've been walking 2-3 miles a day and started back at the gym this weekend. I'm cleared for light elliptical. I have more energy then I've had in a very long time. I truly feel great. My incisions are healing nicely as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
taramarie523 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not really broadcasting that I'm having the sleeve done. What did you tell people during your recovery process? Like a few weeks after surgery i will be class mother at my sons kindergarten field trip to the local zoo. It will only be 2 weeks post op. Am I going to be able to do this? Walk the zoo? My surgeon says yes. They encourage you to be back to your routine. I have some family functions that I figured out how I can play off the esting portion of the function (see my other post on Italian family functions post op lol) but what about the normal stuff I may respond no to following? I mean I'll be recovering from surgery but that excuse will Lead to questions and I just don't want the judgement eyes on me. I just want to do my thing and after I've reached my goal if I decide to scream it from the roof top that's on me but until the I want to just do it and not tell anyone until it's a success. Of course my husband and parents will know but I mean extended family and friends. So anyone keep their journey a secret even though they have big Italian nosey friends and family hahahaha (whom I love dearly may I add but I need to be the only one in my head right now letting them in will force me to think of them instead of me and right now it needs to be about me...) Here's a little follow up since my original post!! I am now almost 3 week post op! I feel fantastic! In my original post I was so nervous about my sons class trip to the zoo that was 2 weeks post op. Well I had no problem going on that trip last week. I had energy to keep up. I just started pureed that day so I packed extra water with me and kept sipping all day and a yogurt for lunch time. I took a few spoonfuls of yogurt and was fine. No one else thought anything of it. The following day I had plans with a friend for my son and I to come over for a pizza play date. We went and I just said i was on a special diet brought a yogurt with me and declines the wine for water due to my "diet". The first few days post op were tiring but after day 3 or 4 I was raring to go. For me meal times were a little tough bc I do have 3 small children to prepare meals for. Breakfast and lunch were no big deal. Dinner was hard to make and sit down with my bowl of broth but it was short lived and it gets easier each day. So far I'm very happy with my decision to get sleeved. As far as keeping the secret to yourself it can be done and I wouldn't worry about anyone else. I'm talking about dieting and exercise with friends so hopefully it just looks like that's where he weight loss came in to play. My advice is just to be confident and this is our story we don't have to live an open book for the world to know. Negative people will make comments whether they no or not so just be confident in yourself and don't let anyone else get in your head! Cheers to you all! Good luck on your journey!! ❤️❤️❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone not have to do 2 weeks diet pre op?
taramarie523 replied to Janiegirl1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1 week post op and I did NOT have a pre op diet. My surgeon said they do it to shirnken the liver to Reduce complications but it does not significantly reduce the liver to Make a real difference and it makes the patients under more stress so he doesn't require it. However I am on Clear liquids for 2 weeks Post op when so many others are allowed Protein shakes etc and I'm Still on clears. So Each surgeon really has their own way of doing things. It's kinda crazy how different each one is to the next. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hi Elle!!! 4/28 here! I'm doing good. Every day a little better. Getting my liquids in pain is minimal no more pain meds for a few days now. I'm still on Clear Liquids for the first 2 weeks so I am eager for something besides broth lol I'd love a Protein shake but managing without. dinner time in my house gets a little difficult bc I'm making dinner and everyone's plates and then sitting down to my bowl of broth. Lmao the smells make me crave but then it gets better. Plus that's temporary eventually I'll be able to eat with them. The scales been moving down fast. I've lost 16 pounds in 6 days. Kinda crazy. I've been getting some walks in and trying to get back to normal a bit. Ran some errands with my husband yesterday so I could walk some since its been rainy here in NJ. We did people! Tomorrow will Be 1 week! It's crazy! I'm so excited for what the future holds for us!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
