I wasn't weighing everyday because of being told on previous weight loss programs that you should not..............but I agree the even though the daily up and down 1 to 2 lbs can drive you bonkers....it does keep you in line and keeps you from going totally A.W.O.L.....however this morning I couldn't take what it would say after consuming too much chocolate on V day yesterday!

Don't panic....i had same issues....1st of all, I can't do cake or muffins or soft bread etc....some people can never eat that stuff with a band....too gooey..........also I was told that scrambled eggs can also cause problems for some people and a "fried egg" is better..............seems that hard types of carb's work better....soda crackers....few tortilla chips...etc....so go back on liquids for two to 3 days and then try something not so gooey........ breakfast.....like a couple pieces of crispy bacon....protein or cream of wheat....:hungry:

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
lyndalafe replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Never had it before surgery; but after surgery and on my 2nd fill to 1.8 developed bad acid reflux....so much so I could not sleep laying down, cause I would choke on acid when it came up........had to have an complete unfill..........and now filled to 1.4 no acid reflux....but feel could have a little more restriction.............. -
I have tried several different chewable Vitamins and hate all of them...cause I'm so finicky about the taste. Last week I was at my local Walmart in Tomball, Tx and Centrum has a new "micro vitamin" for 50 or over (sure younger folks can take also). They are half the size....the size of a small capsule and you take 2 a day. Yea! now I can take my vitamins w/o dreading it.:clap2:

Ok.......here is my journey... Banded 11/17.......first fill of 1cc 12/15...some restriction; but not nearly enough..........2nd fill 1/9 to 1.8...started having acid reflux........after 2 weeks could not swallow solid Protein or food? did total unfill for one week and then went back and filled to 1.4 cc..........some restriction..........but managed to eat 2 mini bags full of popcorn and 20 chips last nite with no full feeling whatsoever???? ..........and I sit here now after 2 cups coffee 3 pieces of bacon and am thinking about what to eat? does a fill sometimes kick in two weeks or more later??????????? I'm scared to death to get overfilled again....is that what it takes to lose weight? So what is this sweet spot ya'll talk about..........where you eat a cupfull of food...protien/vegs and are F U L L:clap2: Lynda in Texas

Well...from hearing others sometimes it takes two to 3 weeks for fills to kick in. If you have irritated yourself and the band, could have some swelling...try Clear Liquids for a day. Then try again to eat solid food. Very small bites...and my nurse suggested the 20/20 method.....chew 20 times - swallow and wait another 20 seconds before putting another bite in. Mornings you are closed more - so midday is better time to eat....and sometimes later in evening - things close up again. If after first bite - little slime and pain...then things seem to move better....eat your small portion.... But if doesn't improve....hiccups continue....you might be tooooooooooo full and after my last 2 weeks experience - its miserable.....but give it some time - at least a week and see how it goes and then decide.... The only thing we can honestly tell you is everybody is a little different and listen to your body!:hungry:

Hello again! Well after a long weekend of not being able to get any solid food down and sleepless nights due to "new developed acid reflux" I went back to the Doctors office and had a total unfill. What blessed relief....had barium swallow and x-ray check today and band is in place, just had toooooooooooooo much fill. Had first nights good sleep with no reflux issues last night. Going back next Monday for refill....(not as much). On the bright side I lost 8 lbs the two weeks I could not eat and will try very hard this week to maintain loss with no fill. I never ever ever want to be overfilled again.....its not fun! Happy Bandster again!!!
-
I understand eating slow and agree with having good results; but right now I can't eat any solid food....slow or not...w/o pain or foaming afterwards. There are times liquids give me pain.............
-
Well I've been struggling since my second fill two weeks ago. Still can't eat much solid food at all without suffering and as of a week ago started to develop Acid Reflux Syndrome....and haven't been able to sleep for a week w/o sitting up and even that doesn't work. I've never had Acid Reflux in my whole life...didn't know what it was until my husband explained it to me................ the kicker is....Dr. Spiegel's nurse says he won't take just some out, he will make me unfill all of it and then start again which seem stupid on my part. But at this point, I don't care what they do, I just need RELIEF! this is not the way to lose weight.............I feel like crap! sorry about the language! but I'm tired and hungry!:help:

Okay, had my second fill to 1.8 cc in 4cc band on Monday 1/9....have been struggling w/PB's ever since. Went back to doctor thinking needed to remove some and when I told nurse I could barely eat a chicken breast (takes 2 hrs or more) and i had just a couple bites of scramble eggs in the a.m. and she said I should not be eating any solid food in the a.m. However, i have not been able to eat anything that doesn't cause a PB this last week........can't touch Pasta or bread of course....had a couple bites of breaded fish the other night and have PB's all nite long..... Yesterday, had piece of bacon in a.m............couple bites chicken and couple bites of carmeled popcorn?????????????and that did it....PB's again all night.....when this happens...can't drink Water, hot tea, broth or anything...........it PB's right back up........ so went all night with no liquids, had a couple popcicles and PB'd those also.....So this morning decided to just stick to liquids for a couple days????? Is this normal or am I really too filled.................:faint: :help: :help: :help: or I think i have just abused my esophugus with all the PB'g and maybe need to stay on liquids....get swelling down....and healed and try again? but i get so hungry that i will try to eat a couple bites of something and then it back fires on me and i'm done for the rest of the day.

Well I've never had a lot of issues with acid reflux; but i got my second fill last week and since I am miserable............1.8 cc think is tooooooooo much! Example: yesterday Breakfast - 3 bites scrampled eggs 1 bacon Lunch: took all afternoon to get down 1/2 chicken breast and some veg's in broth............. dinner...took two bites of breaded fish and had PB's all nite.... there are times I cannot get Water down w/o PB's if i am not totally empty??? and I am constantly belching...........its been a week since my fill....and hopefully it doesn't get tighter........think its time to go back and unfill! :help: :faint:

Ok gang! I'm newly banded on 11/17 and had first small fill on 12/15....but am going back 1/9 for a little more. Question, when you reach optimal or good fill point...........do you actually feel full after eating "say 1 - chicken breast? or a salad or a few bites of potato or oatmeal or whatever....and I mean that feeling right under your breast bone that says I'm stuffed????? At this point.....i can eat an awful lot and still not hit that real full feeling? So - is that what I should be shooting for when I get filled? and when you hit this point..............what can actually get thru the small hole? Right now - I'm just struggling to maintain? HELP PLEASE NEED INPUT! :) ;)

Poll: would you do it over again?
lyndalafe replied to lovecats85's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a newby and was banded 11/17 and i struggle with the sweet issue....of course can't do the donuts, cakes.....cookies etc....brownies...but darn if the chocolate candy doesn't go down easy! Is there anyone else out there with a sweet tooth that has succeeded losing weight with the band............of course I use to do the bread and potatoes also.....but now at least that has been curbed.......... -
now if I can only curb my sweet tooth.....hate the fact that chocolate can still make it thru
-
Had my first fill 12/15...don't know how much...had no swelling prior and could eat just about anything if done slowley before fill..........now really don't get full right away and can eat still most anything except sticky breads and beef....can eat rice...pasta ...crackers....chips with no problems - so scheduled to have a little more fill next week???? Should you get that full feeling or is it just the fact you can't get it down in the first place???? Cause my head and my stomach don't feel full most of the time??? HELP?

any one ever cheat on liquid phase?
lyndalafe replied to Nugent72197's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only stayed on clear liquids for 3 - 4 days then went to thicker liquids like cream soups..........could not stomach Atkins or Slim Fast shakes....so by day 3 was eating soft scrambled eggs. Apparently my stomach had little swelling so I was hungry after 5 days and up until 1st fill could eat a lot of food.........even after 1st fill - i do not have that full feeling like I did right after surgery.....will probably check back into doctor in 2 weeks so they might fill me a little more. -
Did you do a barium swallow after surgery?
lyndalafe replied to Anwyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

lyndalafe replied to Anwyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, Dr. Spiegel's surgery is out patient for 90% of us.....in at 6 a.m. and out by 10:30 a.m............did drink small amount of barium followed by Xray to make sure band is in place and fluids passing through correctly. -
