Thanks everyone! I'm kicking myself for not taking before pictures. I'm sure my brain will catch up soon enough????

I'm a little over a month out and doing great, feeling good, regaining my energy. I weighed myself this morning and I have lost a total of 35 pounds! However when I look on the mirror I just can not see it. I'm glad I didn't have the surgery for purely aesthetic reasons or I would be so frustrated. My clothes are literally falling off of me, I can see they are big but I can't get to make my brain see any weight loss. Any one else experience this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

No possibility of being pregnant, I lost one ovary to PCOS and then I had to have an ablation/tubal ligation with my remaining. It's funny because the only time I have ever ever been sick when brushing my teeth was when I was pregnant, it's how I found out- but it only happened once.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm a little over a month out. Everything else is going great , but every time I brush my teeth I gag. I have never had this before. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My husband is type 1 and is having surgery at the beginning of 2017. He has a Medtronic insulin pump that has the ability to use a sensor to alert him of low blood sugar. Would that be an option for you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The diet sheet my NUT have me is very unclear about when I can have uncooked veggies, salad etc. When were you given the green light on veggies. I'm not in any hurry to push it, but I am looking forward to eating a carrot Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Very few calories.. Stalled weight loss, and the not full feeling
Lisa1996 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello everyone, I had surgery May 3rd. I've lost a total of 25 pounds. In the last week I haven't lost any. I meticulously keep track of my food intake, and I have not had more than 500 calories a day since surgery. How can this possibly be? I am progressing on my food pretty well. The only thing I've had trouble with is eggs. It does scare me that I can't feel myself get full until I get that "pain in your chest" feeling. I'm terrified of getting a leak. My surgeon said that after the 21 day mark it is very difficult to get a leak so that helps my fears a bit. Any insight on these issues would be ver appreciated! Thanks! Very few calories.. Stalled weight loss, and the not full feeling

Very sound advice! I just had my first follow up appointment. I'm healing fine, and my weight loss is right on track. I was thinking about this today- I think my mentality was I did this extreme thing to take back my health and I was feeling, for lack of a better word, entitled to quick results. Ha! The more I let it sink in that it is a change of lifestyle the more I feel like I will be so happy that I earned the weight loss instead of loosing it all in a month or two : ) -
yep, that's the same as my guidelines. I'm wondering more about uncooked veggies and salad. The nutrition sheet is very detailed in the first three weeks and then lacking beyond week 4. It doesn't mention anything about meats like chicken breast, pork or steak either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Post op sharp pulling pain 1 week out
Lisa1996 replied to RJC5197's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my gall bladder removed a couple years before I had the bypass. I'm my experience, the gall bladder removal was a thousand times more painful a recovery. I had almost zero pain after bypass. I took Tylenol for 2 days for pain after the bypass, but was on narcotics for almost two weeks after the gall bladder came out. Obviously every person is different, I'd say trust yourself and I'd something seems wrong ask your doctor, they get paid big bucks- they can handle a question or two Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this forum. You all are such a wealth of information sand so encouraging! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

All is going pretty well with my recovery. I'm 20 days post op- and I can tolerate everything in my soft foods diet stage, with the exception of scrambled eggs. My question is when will I regain that full feeling? I pre measure everything as to not go over what I can handle. I'm just waiting to actually feel full or satisfied. Currently I don't feel much of anything, no hunger, no fullness. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When will the "full" feeling return?
Lisa1996 replied to Lisa1996's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@Daisee68 , That makes sense! I'm just paranoid that I will never have any stomach sensation again. It's a process I know. Day by day, week by week. -
When will the "full" feeling return?
Lisa1996 replied to Lisa1996's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I probably should have clarified. I'm not really looking to feel full. But right now I feel nothing. No hunger, which is great. Also when I eat it doesn't even feel like I have anything in my stomach, I have zero sensation in my belly. I'm transitioning to solid foods, fish, soft fruits and veggies. I guess what I'm concerned about is that I will have a tendency to graze if I'm not feeling like I have anything in my stomach. -
When will the "full" feeling return?

I would love to have a satisfied feeling- I just feel nothing. It's like I never even ate anything. It's strange. I have had that tight feeling after having too much, but that was early on the first couple times I tried actual food. Obviously I'll stick with what my NUT advises but I can have a half cup food no problem. -
When will the "full" feeling return?

Thank you fir your response. My surgeon said that the "full" feeling is what helps you loose weight. Learning how to eat slowly, and trigger that satiated full feeling is what I should aim for. I know every surgeon is so different and has different guidelines. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Very few calories.. Stalled weight loss, and the not full feeling
Lisa1996 replied to Lisa1996's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you Inner Surfer Girl! That was a great post! Another little frustration of mine is not knowing exactly how much Protein I'm supposed to be getting. The diet I am on has me eliminate Protein drinks 14 days after surgery. Now I'm allowed 1/2 a scrambled egg or tuna for protein. I don't feel like I'm getting nearly enough in. I'm not supposed to, but I ate a little bit of very finely puréed chicken today. It's like my body is screaming for nutrition, but my brain says I'm not hungry. Getting Water has been a challenge as it turns my stomach. Thankfully I found low carb Gatorade goes down okay. I think I might hit my water goal today Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Very few calories.. Stalled weight loss, and the not full feeling

Thanks! My surgeon hasn't given me any specific caloric guideline. I am following the diet guidelines, and trying to get my fluids in (I have been less successful at fluids, but it's getting better day by day). I think you nailed it when your wrote my body is trying to heal. I think I have been more frustrated at the pace of my healing. Certainly I was obese, but I was so active before surgery. Now the thought of going to the gym tires me. I probably need to give my self a little slack???? -
Mine is 4 oz Protein shake 2-3 times a day plus Clear liquids for 1 week ( hooray! 1 more day to go!) and then I can slowly have a teaspoon of applesauce, thin mashed potatoes, low fat cottage cheese, or thin oatmeal, plus my Protein shakes for 1 week. The 3rd week is scrambled eggs, flaky fish, hummus, soft cheese and tuna and 1 or 2 crackers, or a quarter slice of toast. Plus everything from weeks 1and two except discontinue the protein shakes. After that every week I get to add in another food option until week seven when I can pretty much eat normally, but at the pace my body allows. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What is/was your post op diet?

Those cookbooks look fabulous! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thanks everyone, I think mine was due to dehydration. I was able to get a little more fluids in today and that helped tremendously.

Hi all! I'm 3 days post op and slowly recovering. I don't have much pain, it's very well controlled with Tylenol, but this headache- it's killing me. I'm doing okay with fluids, and Protein. I'm also so tired I know that's normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Protein drinks are not on my list of approved foods. I had to start the diet on Saturday so I couldn't call my nutritionist, but I plan on calling first thing in the morning to ask!

This. Is. Kicking. My. Butt! It's only been day 1 of three. How many calories should I be aiming for? I know the purpose is to shrink my liver, I know that is done by restricting calories and carbs. I think I'm right around 750 calories total. I'm tired, famished, and have a terrible headache. This being said I won't deviate from it. I'm very motivated to get this done, and the discomfort/effort is totally worth it. Also any helpful hints, beverages, etc you found helpful? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
