Bariatric Advantage capsules
mytwopugs replied to Jennifree's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have the bariatric advantage ultra with iron. They are too big to swallow and yes you have to take 3. I empty all 3 of them and mix them into one of my protein drinks. There is a little bit of a twang but it's not too bad. You could probably split them up as long as you wait the 3 hours before/after calcium. I still have to try and get the calcium pills in but I've been putting that off. I'm struggling with all of the pills I have to take and I admit sometimes I take a day off! I take other meds for an existing condition, so taking those plus the Prevacid and potassium to heal, plus stool softeners and vitamins.....ugh. AND, they want me to quarter all of my pills and wait 15 minutes between each piece. So basically I take something every 15 minutes from morning until I go to bed. I miss popping 2-3 pills at a time with a gulp of water. This is actually the hardest thing for me, as I don't really have any other issues so far. I would crush everything but then each meal would be hideous. Wish there was a daily IV I could hook up to! -
Oops! I've been drinking 1 cup of French roast every day since my 2 week mark. I still get all of my fluids in since caffeine doesn't count. I haven't had any issues but after reading I'm hoping that I don't mess up my healing process! Now I'm afraid to tell my NUT, but I read my instructions over and over and it doesn't say not to drink coffee, just that it doesn't count towards liquid requirement. Yikes

Puréed food recipe or the best puréed food?
mytwopugs replied to cat.jackson89's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I mixed pot roast made in the crockpot with vegetable broth and blended into mush. Looked disgusting but it was the best meal I've had so far! I'm not allowed to have beans or veggies, just protein. -
One week out and some numbness
mytwopugs replied to catherine513's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am having the same issue. It is numb to the touch and stings too. Clothes moving back and forth across the lower part of my abdomen is almost painful towards the end of the day. I know the stinging sensation will subside but I didn't realize until the staples were removed that there were spots that were numb. I'm going to ask next appt on 5/18. I'm assuming it's normal because the whole area under the skin has been under major construction. I'll report back unless you find out first! -
So my surgery is Monday morning and I'm looking for my post op vitamins. I've read all the threads with some great info but I have a problem with one common ingredient that I'm allergic to. Saccharine and all of its derivatives. It's so frustrating because not only are there no chewable or liquid vitamins without artificial sweeteners but all of the so-called "healthy, sugar free snacks" that I am allowed to have on my liquid diet have the same thing. So I'm thinking I'll just crush all of the vitamins but I'm curious if anyone knows of a brand that is all natural? I don't care if it tastes like #%*¥, I just want to stay healthy and get my nutrients. Or has anyone just crushed theirs during the liquid/gummy phase?

All natural or organic vitamins anyone?

P.s. Stevia is also a sugar alcohol and I'm allergic to that too even though it's supposed to be natural! -
To "Bypass" or to "Sleeve"?

Rusticlemon, are you regretting having the bypass or just in shock? -
To "Bypass" or to "Sleeve"?
mytwopugs replied to Vagrant Violet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for RNY Monday. I just had my pre-op visit with my surgeon this morning. He was telling me I may be better off with the sleeve because I like sugar, which contradicts the surgeon I met with at my first consult last month. He said although I have reflux (which has only developed since I've gained a lot of weight) that I should wait a couple of weeks, see if reflux meds would control it, and if it does, go for sleeve. Now I'm second guessing my decision and certainly don't want to postpone my surgery date and most likely have to go through the approval process with my insurance again??? I told him I wanted to stay with bypass just in case I have complications that need reversal down the line. He said "ok, see you Monday". But the conversation is not sitting well with me. Doctors usually know what's best, but which Doctor do I listen to?? Ugg -

April 18! Originally scheduled for May 4, someone cancelled and I got lucky. It's only been a month or so since my seminar and things moved really quick for me! I'm in Southern Ca
