I was banded Nov. 11, 2005, and have lost about 95 pounds. I had hoped to reach the 100 mark by my band anniversary. I have stuggled the last several weeks because my head hunger has taken over. However, I look at not gaining during the holiday season as a plus. I made a promise to myself that beginning this morning I would not eat anything that is bad for me like ice cream. I realize my band is a tool, not a miracle. I will say that to myself today over and over.
I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving!
I have had my band since November 05 and haven't looked back. It is the best decision I have ever made. I have had very few, minor problems and solved those by changing the way I do things. You hang in there!
I had the surgery and went home that night. I had to take one pain pill and that was because I had a headache. I had my surgery on a Monday and went back to work the next Monday with no problem. Hunger was no problem-- I stayed on liquids for about three weeks and then progressed to mushies. I can't really say I had any problems. It is the best decision I ever made. My doctor and his staff are wonderful.
I thought getting fills were a piece of cake. My doctor is wonderful. I was told not to eat or drink for four hours before the fill is scheduled. You'll do great!
I have a lump there and my doctor says it is my port. When I had it checked out, everything looked fine. Don't worry about it, but ask your doctor to be sure.
"Potatoes, rice, bread, sugar"???
Why don't you go by the next time you see her and say, "Politeness, Respect, Brains and Savvy....that's what YOU should NOT avoid unless you are training to be a professional JERK!
I just found out I no longer need my blood pressure meds!
Thanks for all your encouagement. I read a lot more than I post, but you guys are a wealth of information. :clap2:
Being nervous is normal. You just wait until you start to see the weight come off. I didn't have much post-op pain. I had to take one pain pill and that was because I had a headache after I woke up.
It is the best decision I ever made for myself.
