VIT. B6 Toxicity and Regular Blood work/experts
kmorri replied to Pescador's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I just got my blood work results today....I'll see the doc tomorrow....but, my B12 and B6 are high....not as high as your husband's but still high..........and the really weird thing is I have not been taking any Vitamins because I didn't want to take them unless I had too.........all my levels are good with the exception on the B12 and B6. The only thing I can track it down to is the MIO drops I add to my Water.....it contains both B12 and B6. Weird! -
I need some encouragement

Yes it gets better......but you don't have to live with the constipation.....call your doctor and find out what they recommend you to take. Feel better soon! -
Too much loss right after surgery?
kmorri replied to sarajeano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I were you I wouldn't worry about the weight loss at this point.....just focus on getting your Fluid and Protein .....the rest will fall into place. You're not losing too fast.....it'll even out. good luck! -
I agree with @Loopylulu....it never hurts to call your surgeon if you're concerned....They are paid very well for what they do.....a weekend call is the least they can do. :-)

try different temps.....try sucking on ice, warm tea, broth....whatever works, but you MUST drink! Dehydration will set in very quickly. ....try sugar free popsicles, or Jello.....Think of it as your job.....little sips but constant sipping.

4 months today with Pictures!
kmorri replied to kmorri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! @@chuswysly Yes! I do feel terrific! In fact I can't remember the last time I felt this healthy and happy. According to the goal I set for myself (just a number I picked out of the air) I have about 40 more pounds to go.......I"m thinking now that will be too low.........I think maybe 25 to 30 more will put me where I want to be......I'm thinking 150 to 155 is going to be low enough. For now I'm not going to change my goal on my ticker.....but I'll know when I'm low enough. -
My surgery was 4 months ago today on May 16th......I am down a total of 73 pounds and feeling great!!! First pic is me at my heaviest taken on Easter Sunday of 2016 and the second picture is me this morning.

Diet after Sleeve (fear of my own sabotage)
kmorri replied to stefanie0804's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having gastric sleeve surgery is way way better than dieting on your own.....Like so many others have said. I tried every diet out there. I was even successful on a few of them......short term!!! I lost 60 lbs on my own with a diet I made up for myself.....it was low carb for the most part. Basically I just stopped eating breads, Pasta, rice, and any starchy veggie....I ate lean meats, eggs, non-starchy veggies, and fruit........but to make a long story short, I lost the 60 pounds, but ended up gaining it all back plus a whole lot more!! My problem wasn't really "what" I ate but rather how much I ate. I always ate very fast and ate an enormous amount..... Now with the sleeve, I'm forced to eat slow, otherwise I'll be done after two or three bites.....so I eat slow and always eat my Protein first and most of the time I'm able to eat between 2 and 3 ounces of a meat like chicken, pork, fish...etc. I am 4 months post surgery, I've lost a total of 73 pounds and I am still very surprised at how little I need to eat to feel completely satisfied!! It's hard for folks who have not had surgery to understand that......Like my husband and my sisters thought I ate small amounts just because that was all my tiny tummy would allow........they didn't realize that I also felt like I had just ate Thanksgiving dinner, and actually didn't want anymore. Having weight loss surgery is a huge life changing thing. You must be prepared to eat healthy for the rest of your life for it to work........do all the research you can do....then do some more! I can honestly say this surgery is the greatest gift I have ever given myself. I have zero regrets!! Good luck to you in whatever you decide is best for you. -
Food paranoia- tomato seeds are out to get me!
kmorri replied to The_von's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Actually it's great to read about someone who takes their post op eating plan serious and understands how important it is to follow it!!!.............But try to relax and don't worry so much......I have no doubt that you're doing great! Just keep doing what you're doing and stick to your plan. You're not crazy! Keep up the good work! -

Post-Op, days in hospital
kmorri replied to joei0005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone is different.....it's very common to have difficulty getting in all your liquids and Protein in the first week or so due to swelling.........focus on getting in as much Fluid as you can because dehydration will land you back in the hospital very quickly....worry about protein second. Keep sipping and try your liquids at different temperatures until you find what works best for you...... It will get easier each day. I promise!! -

I finally broke out of the 180's this morning. 179.8 this morning!! yay!!
-
Hang in there....it'll be worth it in the end!!
-
No I didn't have that issue. However, 2.5 weeks sounds pretty early to be trying bread.....I think going back to liquids is a good idea and if the pain continues calls your doctor......
-
So getting rid of 72 pounds feels GREAT!!!....I've loved being able to do things I haven't been able to do is so long....walking my literal butt off .....However, my knees are letting me know I've lost my mind with the jogging that I've tried....my knees are KILLING me right now!!!

Just try to be patient with yourself.......expecting too much too fast will certainly lead to regret. Give yourself time to heal. For me the first 6 days were difficult to get in enough Fluid but I just kept at it.....After that 6th day it was like a miracle and everything seemed back to normal. So know that it does get better.....just be a patient patient. :-)

according to my endo.....just the amount of Synthroid that you take may have to go down....just because your body mass is reduce it should take less medication to get the same result.....other than that weight loss doesn't impact it.

My surgery was 5/16/16 and I'm just thrilled with my results so far! I still have a ways to go but I wanted to share these photos. My high weight was 252 and today I'm 181.4. The first picture was taken Easter Sunday 2016 at my highest weight.....and the other two were taken today!!
-
I think you'll find a lot of folks here on this site were right where you are prior to surgery......I know for me it was certainly the best thing I ever did for myself!!! Good luck to you!!
-
Normally after everything is submitted to your insurance you wait for the approval......probably a week or so. Once the approval is received they will usually schedule a surgery date.
-
For me it was I needed to do something!!......and I did like you, I did a lot of research and then I went to a seminar done by my surgeon. After that my decision was made, and I started the ball rolling. That was in March of 2016. My surgery was May 16, 2016 and I have not regretted my decision for even a moment. I have never felt better.....So far I've lost 72 pounds and will be at my goal weight before I know it!!

When does hair loss begin?
kmorri replied to LoveAlwaysKia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine started at about 3 months but it really hasn't been bad.....it's really the same as I experienced when I first got pregnant many many years ago.....(both my kids are now in their 30s). With both my pregnancies it was the first sign I was pregnant......What I've been experiencing is an increase in shedding.....no bald spots, just lots of hair loss when I wash my hair, but I also have lots of new growth.
