OMG!! Something is wrong with her! A reaction is what she wants but why not give her one that maybe she doesn't expect?.......Maybe have a full blown breakdown in your front yard?.....cry, fall on the ground, moan, cry out that you thought you were finally getting rid of the weight........ Have your husband play apart, he can come running and sit on the ground with you with your head in his lap begging you to be alright.....really give her a show! ..hahaha....and by all means video it if possible because me for one would love to be able to see her reaction! haha
  2. So as of this morning...4.5 months after my surgery I am down a total of 80 pounds!! 80 POUNDS!!! Can you believe it??!!! I actually wore a size 10 jeans out to dinner last night! (okay they were big 10s but they were 10s)....on the day of surgery I wore a size 22 to the hospital. I wonder when my amazement will wear off? I hope it never does!!! Everyone have a great weekend!!!

I am two years post op and i am still amazed almost every day. I went car shopping a few weeks ago and normally we will buy a smaller SUV. Well we were looking at cars instead and i hopped in a tiny little Nissan thinking I would be claustrophobic in there. I got in an had so much room that it felt like a whole different car. Never did i think even car shopping would be so fun. I kept trying to find the smallest cars just to see how i fit in them. Previously I did not fit well in smaller cars, i always had to go for a SUV. Everything still shocks me.

    Dilemma

I know it would be disappointing if they have to delay your sleeve surgery....but try to focus on the big picture. If they do have to delay it will most likely only be a few weeks......and when you're talking a life time change a few weeks is nothing. ........one way or the other you'll have your sleeve surgery! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they end up being able to do both at the same time. Good luck to you!!
  4. kmorri

    Dilemma

You may want to call your surgeon and see if they can do your sleeve at the same time.....I know I've read about several folks who have had it done at the same time.......Sorry I don't have experience with it, but I would sure be on the phone trying to get in touch. It seems like it would be good to get both taken care of at the same time if possible. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better really quickly.

    Dehydration

Call your doctor..............how far out from surgery are you? Are you taking something for nausea?
  6. Fluid is the most important number....you must get in your fluid. You can live a long time without Protein but not getting enough fluid will land you back in the hospital very very quickly.....For me what worked best was I first focused on getting in all my fluid, rather than trying to do both at the same time........once I was able to do that, then I started working on getting my protein numbers up..... Don't get me wrong protein is very very important and the quicker you're able to get the amount up to where it needs to be the better you will feel......but fluid should be the number one concern.

    Urgent question!

That would not be normal at all. Are you sure you recorded your weight correctly before?.....are you weighing today on the same scale as you weighed the last time?..........make sure your not comparing your home scale with your doctor's scale as they could be very different. I agree with what they other posters have said.....if I were in your shoes I'd be contacting the surgeon's office and asking if I can come in and weigh on their scale. They should have your previous weight recorded so you can make sure you're comparing apples to apples. Good luck!!!

    Tips?

Make sure you read and understand your post-op eating plan....Don't wait until you get home from the hospital to try to figure out what you're supposed to be eating (drinking)....So read your plan and if there is anything you don't understand ask your surgeon or NUT before hand so you can be prepared after surgery... Bring a phone charger with a long cord to the hospital....I bought on that was 10ft....it worked perfect. Good luck!!!

    Is tis true...

My surgery was on 5/16/16 also had a hernia repair at the same time and I did not have a drain...........Only your surgeon will be able to answer this question for you.....I think most don't, but some do... Good luck with your surgery!!! :-)

    BCBS requirements

I am covered under BCBS of Florida and didn't have any weight loss program requirements. From the time of my initial consult with the surgeon to my surgery day was a total of two months.

Let's hear it for the girls

I know I'm late to the party but .....YAY!!!! I'm so glad your surgery went well! And having nice new girls is a big plus!! Hang in there and keep on keeping on!

    It's done...although with last-minute changes

Congrats on your surgery!!! I think you'll be thrilled with VSG.....I had my surgery on 5/16/16 and could not be happier! It sounds like you're doing good right now....just focus on getting in all your fluids and make sure not to let yourself get dehydrated. There are lots and lots of great folks here that will be able to answer most of your questions regarding VSG so feel free to ask away!!

    Can I eat/drink?

I'm sorry you're having a hard time. When I left the hospital I was on "full liquids".....for me that included Protein shakes, greek yogurt, strained creamed Soups, milk (I like FairLife milk)..... And as far as the Protein Shakes shoot for one that has less than 200 calories per serving and I also make sure the carbs were low. Lots of folks use the Premier Protein.....you can get it at Walmart. Remember that you still need to be very careful with what kinds of food you choose to eat.....first and foremost make sure not to eat solid foods before you've healed.....and second you don't want to eat junk food that is high in calories otherwise the surgery won't do you any good at all. I agree with what others have said about you plan document being very broad.....you need something with lots more detail. You should be able to find something pretty easy by just doing a Google search for WLS post op diet plan. I wish you good luck!

    Horrible pain!

I agree with @ there are no doctors here......when you describe something as "Horrible pain"....it sounds like you need to be having a discussion with a physician..so if you are truly in horrible pain you should either call your surgeon, or go to the ER. Pain is such a subjective thing there is no way anyone can tell you if they experienced the same thing,,,, Good luck to you and I hope you feel better very soon.
  16. The trick is to make sure it's not over 140 degrees......Good luck!!
  17. No not a caffeine drinker! Maybe a tea once a month... But nothing else otherwise. Sent from my LGLS770 using the BariatricPal App Oh sorry, other than that it's probably just your body wanting the things you can't have and it's going to just take some time for you to adjust....and as the other poster said, 3 to 4 days will probably be the time frame.....keep the Tynenol handy. I hope you feel better soon. Just remember to stick to your diet and not cheat.....cheating will probably just pro-long the misery. Good luck to you!!
  18. Did you stop caffeine cold turkey? To me it sounds like you have a caffeine headache.......if that's what you did drink a little something with some caffeine, and then ween yourself off of it instead of going cold turkey....try half de-caf and half full caf coffee in the morning.....then gradually increase the de-caf and lower the full caf....

    BCBS requirements

I have BCBS of IL and like you said there are only two requirements, BMI over 40 and psych eval. But the surgeons office is claiming that I have to do a 6 month MSWL because I have to follow BCBS of VA's guidelines...since I live in VA...??? Makes no sense to me. I spoke with two different people at BCBS of IL and they assured me that I don't need to do the 6 month MSWL. So frustrated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Do a conference call with both BCBS of IL and your surgeon's office so they can help explain to them how BlueCard works. (I retired from the BCBS system last Sept after 29 years). If just sounds like to me that the provider's office is confused on how BlueCard works. When you have BCBS in a state other than the one you live in.....the BCBS in the state where you live processes the claim, but they process the claim using the guidelines from the state where your policy is......So in your case, your surgeon will file their claim with BCBS of TX and they will contact BCBS of IL and ask how to process the claim ,,,,,,,this process is called BlueCard. Hopefully a conference call will get it straightened out for you. Good luck!
  20. Day 6 was my turning point.....on day 6 I felt normal again. Everyone is different of course so just rest....but do get up and walk as much as you can. That will help speed your recovery......and of course keep sipping.

Yes do make sure you check your individual plan to ensure you are sticking with what is ordered by your doctor. At one week out I was also on what is called "full liquids"....and it included Greek Yogurt and sugar free pudding as well.....Strained Soups were also very good at that point...I liked the Progresso soups.
  22. At just over 4 months post-op I've already lost 71% of my excess weight! (76 pounds)...I only have 31 more pounds until I'm at my goal weight!!

    Messed up

You need to stop thinking of your post op eating plan as a "diet"....it's not! it's a prescription. It's not something you can cheat on. Most of your stomach has been removed and what's left is being held together with staples. It's not had time to heal and that's the reason you're not supposed to eat solid food. If your stomach leaks food and stomach acid into your abdomen it will cause an abscess and can very quickly become life threatening......so eating solid food too soon is like not taking a prescribed medication that is necessary in order for you to heal..........With this surgery it's hard to picture what your insides look like because you don't have a big incision on the outside.....all you have are the little incisions that look mostly healed. But those are not the incisions you need to be worried about. The whole length of your stomach has a huge staple line that is red and swollen....if you haven't watched a video of the actual surgery I encourage you to go to YouTube and watch the actual surgery so you can have a clear picture of what was done to you. So perhaps next time you feel hungry you'll be able to make a better choice. In the meantime you need to check in with your surgeon's office and let them know what you ate and how you're feeling so they can determine if anything needs to be done.... I wish you the best. Good luck.

    Time to return :(

"Yes I've lost weight, thanks"....how did I do it? "it's all about the math, I'm eating less and moving more.".....and if they're a real jerk, you can add, "you should try it.".....haha
  25. Down 74.4 pounds as of this morning.....just a little over 4 months!!! Holy crap that's a lot! I couldn't be happier. I have my 4 month follow-up visit with my surgeon today so I'm guessing he'll be very pleased as well. It's a GREAT day!!

@Tami_Lynn no I really haven't had any stalls to speak of.....each week I've lost "something".....I had a week or two that it was less than a pound but each week it's been something.....
