  3. The first picture was taken Easter Sunday 2016 at my highest weight of 252 pounds! The second picture I took this morning at 166.2 pounds!! My surgery was on 5/16/16 just a little over 5 months ago. I feel great!!!
  4. Congrats on your recent surgery! As far as tips.....I say stick to your plan.....but don't be afraid to alter it a bit for you if you find something that works better....For example, my surgeon's plan allows for all foods, but for me I have better weight loss if I stick to very low carb. So I don't eat breads, Pasta, rice, or starchy veggies.....and of course no sweets. I also walk (a lot)!!! I average between 8 and 10 miles a day. I don't do it all at one time but I do two big walks a day....once first thing in the morning and again in the evening. And then throughout the day my little dog needs a couple of little walks. :-) Good luck to you!!!
  5. @@Armygalbonnie thank you and that's Wonderful! Good luck to you with your upcoming surgery!

Something must be said to the US Postal Service. My invitation got lost. Oh well, here I am in the absolutely stunningly beautiful Catskill Mt. where God is really showing off his eye for color excellence.

  9. If I were you I'd switch to these. They are low in carbs and taste good as well. http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwj8i-q03tLPAhUIjWkKHY0HAhQYABAI&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASJORoVNdoTn0ICfU_6S2qDwRd39RzMXQ5F65ifbUrS9WKxge54w&sig=AOD64_0fHcF5bxdED6ZaG1a8WzNxxmGnCg&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjj0ea03tLPAhXqzIMKHeXnB5QQvhcIMw&adurl=

    smoking!

Some surgeon's test for nicotine prior to surgery. My surgeon refused to operate on any one who was smoking. Smoking can cause problems with the healing process as well as problems with your respiratory system during surgery. Make sure your surgeon knows you've been smoking so all precautions can be taken.....Good luck to you!

    HELP

Just asking if they would cancel my surgery if I have caught a cold..Nervous already Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App It depends on how bad your cold is.......sometimes if it's just a cold, no fever, no congestion, etc. it wouldn't be a problem....on the other had if you have a fever and chest congestion that could cause a problem. If you have a cold now it's probably a good idea to reach out to your surgeon's office now and perhaps they may want to prescribe something for you to prevent it from getting worse....Good luck to you!

  14. For anyone who is interested......this was how it looked in Jacksonville beach yesterday during the hurricane....crazy!!!......The ocean claimed about two blocks of land! I hope the video works...we shall see! https://www.facebook.com/lori.d.loving/videos/10154494259911702/

Kmorri, I saw video yesterday of A1A washed away somewhere in Flagler Co., but didn't see exactly where. Have you heard about Anastasia I. yet? St. Augustine and Jax really got whacked, didn't they? My folks are farther south and farther inland so they just got a LOT of rain and 70 mph winds. Cleaned out their live oaks without dropping any of them :) Glad you're safe!

  16. Hurricane Matthew! I'm in Jacksonville, FL and worried! Luckily I'm about 30 miles inland so that should help. However, I'm worried about all the Oak trees that hang over my house!!! eeeekkkk!!

  17. On the day of surgery I weighed 226, Six weeks out I was down about 24 pounds. I did have to play with my diet in order to figure out what worked best for me. My plan that was given to me by my team added back in "all" foods. However, for weight loss, what I found worked best for me was to stay very very low carb. So I stick to a low carb diet and this increased my weight loss quite a bit. I am now less that 5 months post op and have lost almost 83 pounds. At 6 weeks though your body is still adjusting. Just try to sit back and relax. Make sure you're not eating any empty calories and the weight will come off. Once you've completely healed you may need to play around with your diet and see what works best for you. Good luck!!! BTW, I weigh everyday too....it helps to keep me on track. So just know there are plenty of us daily weighers out there! But you do need to try not to stress over it.
  18. Broke out of the 170's today. 169.4 this morning!! It's been a very very long time since I've seen that number! Yay!!!

  19. My surgery is scheduled for the 16th of May. Anyone with a surgery date close to that want to go though this together and support each other? I'm located in Florida. Kathy
  20. I'm doing great, down almost 81 pounds and only 26 pounds from my "pie in the sky" goal...haha Actually I do think I may have set my goal a little too low....I'm thinking I'll be happy with about 15 more instead of the 26. How about you @@bellawlsjourney ?

    Sleeved 9/19

You shouldn't compare yourself to others because everyone is very different. Someone who starts out heavier will lose faster, men lose faster, etc. ......but for me from the day of my surgery to the one month mark I lost 18 pounds.....if I include what I lost pre-op it's 43......I'm 4.5 months now and I'm down a total of 80 pounds.
  22. kmorri

    Constipation

I agree with the other posters....don't worry unless you are experiencing discomfort....remember you have very limited food intake and probably only liquids at this point....little in = little out. If you're uncomfortable then you should contact your doctor for advice on what should be done. Good luck to you and congrats on your surgery!
  23. I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as my sleeve surgery but didn't really experience any discomfort that I could say for sure was related to the repair....The first couple of days I had a lot of chest pain/discomfort that I assumed was related but, I never experience any "real" pain. I was very lucky! By day 6 I felt back to my old self. How far out are you from surgery?
