  1. Yes all of this is normal at 3 days post op. My stomach still make weird noises and I'm a little over 6 months post op. As far as the indigestion most doctors put you on a PPI for a period of time after surgery, so if you're not taking something for stomach acid you probably should ask your doctor to give you something for it... I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
  2. I'm sorry you're having a hard time, but like someone else said you're probably just in the normal stall. The good thing about being the cook and most likely the grocery shopper is you have a little control... Here's what I do. I cook healthy meals that I can eat....something like grilled chicken or other protein, and non-starchy veggies....and then I keep a bag of baking potatoes in the pantry so that on days my husband feels he has to have some carbs with his meal I'll bake a potato for him or maybe cook a little rice or pasta for him. Unfortunately our families are not the ones who had surgery and are trying to lose weight....it still takes a lot of control on our part because there are always going to be temptations around.....You have to decide that being thin tastes better than any junk food you can put in your mouth...I find that if I always stick to the rule of eating protein first that I really don't have room for anything else so there is a lot less chance that I'll cheat with carbs or other junkie foods..... Good luck to you!
  3. I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I'm sorry I don't have any personal experience to offer you but still wanted to wish you well. Sounds like they are taking good care of you. Just make sure to follow their instructions and I'm sure they'll have you back to normal soon.

    I'm so frustrated! [emoji30]

What helps me with Water is the Zepherhills sport bottles......it's something about the squeeze bottles that makes drinking water more "fun"...haha I also flavor my water with MIO drops. I like the lemonade best. Good luck to you.....you're doing good by just recognizing you need to do something different.....you'll get there.

    Drinking sprite

Yes I agree with the others....stay away from the carbonation.....if you just like the taste of Sprite 0 .....then let it sit out and go flat before you drink it. Good luck to you!

    Lovin my progress

Congrats!!! getting all my Fluid in for me has been easy since about 4 weeks....My surgery was May 16th. I think what helped me is when I started buying the Zepherhills sports bottles of Water....it's something about the squeeze bottle I think.....anyway they are 24oz each and I drink at least three of them a day....I flavor them with MIO drops. I like the lemonaide best....try those bottles!

    Undecided on what to do

This surgery is a tool..........would you play ball without all the right and best equipment?....would you work on your car without the right tools?......Same thing with this surgery it's a tool that will help in your weight loss. Good luck!

    Help

@@agarth89 Remember your post-op eating plan is not a diet it is a prescription.....if the doctor gave you medicine to take and told you you needed to take it every 4 hours in order to heal wouldn't you take it as directed?............it's the same with the post op eating plan....most of your stomach has been removed there is a huge staple line that is red and swollen....the nerves are not healed so you may not even feel if something is wrong if you eat solid food.....but know this, you are risking your life by eating solid foods too early in the post op period. If you have not watched a YouTube video of the actual surgery I suggest you do so. It will help you to have a clear picture of what was done to your insides. Too often people think they are pretty much healed because there are no bad scars on the outside.....But your insides need time to heal. If you develop a leak stomach acid will leak into your abdomen and cause an abscess.....that is not something you want to happen!!! Please be careful and follow your plan!

    Pain in the belly

I was pain free after just a few days....If you're still having pain 9 days out you should reach out to your doctor's office.

    New to posting :)

Yay for you!!! I'm excited for you and look forward to hearing your success story. It sounds like you've done good educating yourself in preparation so you're well on your way. Just remember right after your surgery just focus on walking as much as possible, Fluid intake, and Protein.....number one of course in the early days will be fluid.... You'll do great!!!

    Ketosis?

No ketosis due to diet is not dangerous and is good for weight loss....I agree with the other poster...just focus on your Protein and Fluid goals. You're doing great!!
  15. @@wilson06 the anesthesia was great!...haha it did it's job! I didn't have any side effects or anything....I just felt like I closed my eyes and the next thing I knew the surgery was over and done.

    I'm too Fat

In April of last year I had to make an emergency flight from Nashville to Orlando and I did the same thing. Hid the belt under a magazine so the flight attendant didn't see it wouldn't fit. Now I am between a size 8-10 so that is one less worry if I ever have to fly again. So thankful I had this surgery! Same here! I'm between a size 8 and 10 and feel fantastic! This surgery was the best decision I've ever made!

    I'm too Fat

@@amf1025 Try not to worry...I'm sorry this happened to you. My turning point was when I had to take a business trip and the seat belt on the plane didn't fit.....I was so embarrassed that I sat the entire flight hiding the fact that the seat belt didn't fit.....thankfully the flight was smooth and it wasn't needed.....but it goes to show you how terrible the feeling was....I actually risked injury over it. Good luck to you!!!

    Weight gain

@@Qujazmaine Yes as someone else said make sure to use low carb Protein shakes.....I didn't like the Atkins brand but Walmart has some good ones EAS Carb advantage I think was the name.....If I were you I'd stick to three shakes a day and a very low carb meal at dinner time....something like grilled chicken and green Beans........Make sure to not have any bread, sugar or starchy veggies and drink lots and lots of Water. You will be amazed at how fast those 12 pounds come off! Good luck!!
  19. @@wilson06 Having mixed feelings is very very normal! I had them for sure. But now 6 months after my surgery I can say this is absolutely the best thing I have ever done for myself!! My starting weight was 252 pounds and as of this morning I weighed 159.8.....I am now less than 10 pounds from my goal! I haven't had any complications, and not one minute of regret. You will do great! I wish you the very best!

    Hi I have another question

I don't think your question is clear??? What are you asking? I'm pretty sure most people like popcorn.....but I haven't heard of anyone who has popcorn as an approved option for their pre-op diet.

    Pain management

You should not be in that much pain this long after your surgery....you should go to the ER. I'm wishing you the best and hope you feel better very soon.
  22. Happy Saturday everyone! I finally got into the 150's this morning...150.8! So I'm down 92.2 pounds now with only 9.8 to go to my goal weight!! This is awesome!

  23. I would say in order to make it easier to wait until you are at least on solid foods......once you're on solid foods eating out is easy. I always just eat off my husband's plate....stick to Protein and maybe a little bit of veggies....no starches or breads. eating out before you're on solid foods is dangerous.....not from a diet standpoint but risky from a health standpoint. You must give your stomach time to heal before eating anything that is not on your plan.....if you must eat out before the solid food stage ask if they can puree something for you. Good luck!!!

    Ezekiel Bread

it is a sprouted grain bread....I haven't had it since my surgery but I had it before surgery....it's "OK".....sort of dry but didn't trigger my carb addiction.

    Question

Yes I'd say it's normal at 8 days but if in doubt you should always reach out to your surgical team regarding post op pain. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
