Kmorri, you mentioned that you finished greek yogurt today. I didn't think we were allowed to have yogurt in phase 1. I'm just asking because I need to know what may work for me also since my surgery date is 5/24.

there are a lot of plans out there. I went from clear liquids in the hospital to full liquids at home, and I was told yogurt was fine, but that I might need to thin it out with milk. check with your plan for your specifics.

  16. Yes like @@KristenLe said my first question is what phase of your diet are you on? Are you on full liquids yet? If so try some strained creamed Soup or yogurt........if you're still on clear liquid if Crystal Light is too sweet like @@Valentina said Water it down............or better yet, there is always just plan old water. I also like the Mio water enhancers I don't have a favorite I like a bunch of different ones. Hang in there and follow your plan.......
  17. Good morning all you soon to be sleevers!!! Tomorrow the wait will finally be over and we'll all be on our way to a much healthier and happier life. I'm on clear liquids all day today. My pre-op diet was basically just a low carb diet so I was able to have actual food.......This will be quite a change, but I think I'm too excited to eat anyway...I weighed this morning and I've lost 12 lbs so far on my pre-op diet and another 13.6 prior to that, so I've lost a total of 25.6 lbs since I started! I'm sure all these liquids today will cause me to drop another pound or two.....we shall see!!! How much has everyone else lost?

    New to all this

There was no "coping".....you just do what you have to do. If you find a good bariatric center with a good coordinator they do a lot of the work for you. I never had to call and make one appointment, she did everything for me. She made all my appointments and then emailed the schedule to me....all I had to do is show up!.....The "coping" is needed for all the WAITING!!! For most this is a long process. Use the time to educate yourself and learn as much about the surgery and life after surgery as you can. I was lucky and my insurance didn't require a 6 month supervised diet so I didn't haven't to wait near as long as most. I had my initial consult on March 15th and my surgery is scheduled for Monday May 16th. Good luck to you!!!
  19. My guess would be that the authorization request that the doctor submitted didn't document any conditions that warranted having a sleep study......there are specific medical requirements necessary (that are determined by sleep disorder specialist) for an insurance company to pay for a sleep study......if your doctor believes a sleep study is medically necessary then they need to ensure the medical condition that warrants the sleep study is documented in their auth request. .....I worked with BCBS for 29 years. The medical policy that insurance companies follow is not something they just make up in order to not pay claims.....These policies are developed by doctors that specialize in whatever the policy covers.....When something is denied when it is actually medically necessary most often it's because the patients condition is not properly documented in the records provided to the insurance company by the doctor.... I am in no way saying insurance companies don't make mistakes because Lord knows they do!!! But insurance companies don't just deny medically necessary covered services for no reason.
  20. OMGosh!!! Look at my surgery countdown ticker below!!! One day to go!!! geeeeeeezzzzzzzz!! (it always changes late in the evening).............This is really going to happen!!!
  21. Sorry to hear that! What happened? At a secondary office which gathers all the pre-testing paperwork and results, someone forgot to review the notes to my sleep study, and because of (those results) the surgeon requires 4 weeks on a CPAP machine, which I am NOT happy about. But, we're going to do 2 week with the machine, and then 2 weeks with the machine, during the pre-op diet, so 4 week simultaneously. But first I need to have a CPAP fitted. Hopefully the sleep center calls me Monday to set that up. Not pleased someone dropped the ball, but surgeon is firm on the requirement. Really sorry that happened to you! But you'll get there. The hoops we have to jump through in order to have this surgery is unbelievable! Hang in there!
  22. I broke my caffeine habit by first eliminating my diet cokes...(I use to have 2 a day).....after a week of that then I mixed half decaf and regular coffee and had that for a week....the next week it was all decaf.....and so when my pre-op diet started I only drank decaf. During this process I only had a couple of days with a headache and since then it's been a breeze!
  23. I"m in Florida too, but I'm in North Florida right outside of Jacksonville. My surgery is Monday in Jacksonville at St Vincent's hosp in Riverside. Dr. Uchal is my surgeon.

    The wait begins ...

Try to relax............I'm just like you. I can lose weight and have even lost a significant amount when I set my mind to it...I lost 60lbs and in less than 8 months it was all back plus another 30......I've joked before, saying I should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for how much and how fast I can gain weight!!! Portion control is my main problem and the sleeve will help me address that!! My surgery is Monday and I can'n't hardly wait to get started with this new part of my life! Good luck to you. The waiting is the worst part of this process!!!
