Stayed one night... once you pass leak test, void on your own and tolerate 10 oz fluids fyi.... don't let the nurse take iv out until your signing discharge papers.. every drop counts for hydration... good luck...

Yes it will and you will NEED it...
My Dr requested I take Omeprazole (Prilosec) for 4 months post-op. Hope this helps.I had a question for those who have been sleeved.
My mother and I had surgery May 7th in Cancun, Mexico.
What medication where you told to use for the next 3 months? The medicine we were given is the Spanish brand and I'm not sure what it is.
Thanks!

Girl... just plan and plot.I have a little rant about stupid insensitive people who don't know how to keep their mouth shut.
Why do people feel the need to tell you that you are fat...
Its like .... what!!! No way! I never knew i was overweight.. i got my stomach cut off because i thought i was thin! I dieted for years because i was bored! I have spent the last month eating like a mouse because i have nothing better to do!
I had the sleeve 4 weeks ago... and finally it is starting to show physically.. so i was feeling so good about myself.. until BAM!
Some idiot at work felt the need to mention that i was "chubby" and that i am lucky i don't hurt myself.
Mind you i am 5'7" and 216 pounds.. and a size 14... i thought i hold my weight really well.... even my surgeon said i don't look what i weigh...
I just wanted to punch this guy in the face.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Found a site on YouTube....Sherri Smith, you might have to alter the recipes but it's strictly pureed... I'm going to try chicken salad when my sleeve is ready...

Pre op diet compared to post op diet.... we ate like kings!!! OMG i stayed up to midnight trying to get that last 8 oz of 48 oz fluids in...I cheated 3 times in 10 days right at the beginning. I pulled it together for the remaining time. My liver was still large but thankfully they were still able to do it vie keyhole. However I imagine my liver must have been very fatty because I still had a good 6 days of only baratric shakes and nothing the day before surgery. I belive it must have shrunk some but not as much if I hadn't cheated. Btw-I have not cheated at all post op.

Yes Water is right... but with our patients that have swallowing thin liquids issues, we sprinkle in food also... just another route to be more effective...not saying she has dysphagia or anything...
My understanding of how Miralax works is that you need to take it with Water.Sprinkle some miralax on food, warm tea, Gentle laxative...
As far as wt loss, journal your food , let your NUT review what your eating

I too had 2oz of tuna during my pre-op diet... the surgeon told me it really only shrinks to right lobe of liver since it's smaller... my surgery went awesome 5/18... reading this post makes me chuckle cuz I also stressed out B4 surgery, like he was going to find the 2 2oz of tuna sitting on my liver and abort my surgery...

I was sleeve 5/18... my pain was about 2-3 with pain pump. Now that I'm home with crushing pain meds percocet Q 4 hrs and reglan Q 8 and still softener. my pain 4-6... walking helps bring it down to 4... its from left side where he suture the muscle so no hernias. ..I will have sleeve surgery on 5/26/16 and I'm feeling anxious, not sure what to expect. I had my gall bladder out 20 years ago. It was laparoscopic surgery, and I had 4 small incisions. I think I was in surgery about an hour. I had virtually no pain from this. My surgery was in the early afternoon and by midnight I was doing laps around the ward. I had some tenderness in my abdomen for about 5 days, but that was it. I am not sure what to expect for pain with the sleeve surgery. I'd love to hear your experiences- how painful, how long did it last, etc. I know we are all different, and I'm willing to take pain meds if I need to- I just would really like some idea of what to expect!
