My surgeon recommended Flintstones Complete - surprisingly enough, they have more Iron and zinc in them than all of the bariatric Vitamins I looked at. The NUT also recommended bari-melts and the Nascobal B12 Rx - it also comes with a multivitamin, calcium, and iron. The only reason I didn't really look into it is because I caught Flintstones on sale and have already stocked up. Once I run out of those, I'll switch back to a capsule (or the patch).

My favorite book series are Harry Potter and Outlander. But I love any kind of book that I can get lost in. I read two books last week: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (so good! and soon to be an HBO miniseries!) and I Do It With the Lights On by Whitney Way Thore. I'm a big fan of memoirs these days.

Why not file FMLA. It is for your protection. If you have complications or other health issues it is designed to protect your job. That is not something I would want to risk. I have enough job security to know that even with complications, I'd still have a job. I'm very lucky to have the job that I have, and the boss that I have.

I was feeling anxious about my approval because my surgery is a week from today, and my surgeon's office wouldn't submit the paperwork until after my endoscopy this past Monday. On top of that, the admin assistant for the office is out this whole week! So I called my insurance company myself to ask if they could tell me if it had been submitted - and she told me it had been submitted and already approved! Phew! One week from today, my life changes!

Ugh. I did tell my boss, and ONLY my boss. I trust her, and I didn't want to have to do FMLA (either way I have to use vacation/sick time, so why go through the hassle?). So I just explained why I was having the surgery and why I needed to be out, and let her know that I may need some flexibility when I come back to work. She wouldn't have asked if I hadn't told her though. I understand having personal relationships with co-workers and bosses, but there are some lines that should not be crossed!

My Vit D level was low, and the first question I asked when they called to tell me was "Will this effect my surgery?" They assured me it would not and simply called in a Rx for a weekly supplement.

It is possible, but as others have posted it just depends on the requirements by your surgeon. My first ever appointment was on April 28th, and my surgery is on June 15th. I was lucky and had few requirements to complete in addition to the health requirements.

Can I just rant about stupid people in general? Particularly in the workplace? Why can't you read and understand an email? If the email says to schedule a monthly meeting in place of a weekly meeting, cancel the original meeting and make a new monthly one! If I remind you that I sent you an email with information you need, search your inbox for it instead of telling me you didn't get it! C'mon - I know you got it. And speaking of email, what's with people not responding to email? When I've sent my coworkers 3+ "follow up" emails over the span of a month and haven't received a single reply - THAT'S JUST RUDE. /rant (for now)

Keep trying. Or rather, don't just give up because you had one or two bad dates. Live your life, be as social as you're comfortable being, and just... be you!

I just got the call, and it's happening so fast! Endoscopy on June 6 Pre-op on June 9 SURGERY ON JUNE 15! I'm so excited! Anyone else on or near June 15?

Finally got paid (getting paid once a month sucks, just fyi) - so I can finally get the staples I'll need for the first few weeks after surgery. Here's what I'm thinking for now: Bone broth Isopure Zero Carb sugar free Jello Sugar Free Applesauce Premier Protein RTD shakes Syntrax nectar Protein (still testing flavors) Unflavored Protein (still testing brands) What did you wish you'd had at home the first week home after surgery that you didn't think of? What did you buy that you wish you hadn't?
