What would you like to do/acheive once you have reached goal??
Katies replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in The Gals' Room
LOL, clearly we all have body image issues and I envy those that can strip all the outside "junk", be completely naked both figuratively and literally and be ok with it. No judging or being judged. Although, I can't see it now because when I look in the mirror I seen the stretch marks, jelly rolls and all the other flaws, they don't see it that way. They accept you for who you are, not how you look or what you do. Seems like the perfect end to this journey for me. -

Besides the obvious buy clothes in a normal store in normal sizes, I'd like to be secure enough to go to a nudist resort. -
Should I be mad at my husband for looking at dirty pictures?
Katies replied to Carrie_C's topic in The Gals' Room
Wouldn't bother my Dh one bit, just like it doesn't bother me if he looks. He's a visual guy and I get the benefit of it. -
90 pounds gone!!
-
Hi Junies, So, I realized 3 things today... I am down 90 pounds! I'm really bad at keeping up with the Daily News thread! I'm scare to measure my calves...what if they are bigger than 17"? I never thought about them before because my stomach is my main focus at this point. Is this thing ever going to shrink or what?

Congrats all you 100 pounders. I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to get there. I've been stuck for about a month at 86 pounds. However, for that month i've been doing 30 mins of weights and 30 mins of cardio 6 days a week, man i'm beat!! The scale hasn't moved, but I think its because i'm building muscle. I'm hoping it starts moving again soon, otherwise its time for a second fill.

Hi Junies, I haven't been on for a couple weeks, its been pretty hectic lately. My loss has slowed so i've taken drastic steps to get it moving again. I'm exercising! Dh added me on his gym membership (he's been dying to do that) and we've been going to the gym everyday on the way home from work. I'm hoping it works and gets me dropping again. We do 30 - 45 mins of strength training then 30 mins of cardio. I hate to admit it but i'm actually enjoying it. Although I am a bit sore. I'm 30 pounds to from One-derland and hope I can get there by easter. I was resistant to going to the gym for obvious reasons like I didn't want people staring at me as the biggest person there but now i'm not the biggest or the slowest. It feels really good to walk on the treadmill faster and longer than the person next to me. I went to get some new clothes (story of my life now) to wear to the gym and was able to buy XL shirts, that was great. If I could get rid of my stomach I could drop my pants size. Its killing me! Anyway, glad to hear you are all keeping on and succeeding.

Hi fellow June Bugs, Finally, I woke up this morning, did my normal morning routine and hopped on the scale to see I finally lost that damn pound that kept me out of the 80 pound loss. Sheesh, it felt like that took forever. Its amazing how that one pound can make your whole day and get you motivated again. I generally lose in a cycle, two weeks losing, two weeks not! Hopefully, I'm back in the two weeks losing again!

Hey all! Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. I've been lingering at 79 pounds gone and just can't get that scale to make it 80. I think I have some water retention going on so maybe that's not helping. We'll see what the next week does. I went to my monthly support group on thursday and it was really nice. Only 5 people showed up so it got more personal. I've been avoiding the groups that really delve into the psyche stuff because well, I just am a pretty private person and honestly, don't know if "therapy" is really what I need. I may go to the weekly "therapy" meeting this week to see what its really about. One of the ladies said since she started dealing with the issues she buried from years and years ago she's gained 50 lbs. She had bypass 7 1/2 years ago and may need another surgery since she stretched her stoma. So, my question I guess is it really worth uncovering those issues? Cathy, So sorry about your ex-bestfriend. Like I said before I have one of those too! Although my Dh is still here and we are doing great and are really happy. I'm still so angry at her. I think that's why I may go to the meeting. I have to get rid of this anger. (although it does have me walking farther on the treadmill) I'd love nothing more to make her hurt like she did me. And i'd really enjoy watching her suffer. That is so not me!! I guess I have to find a way to let that go. I just don't know how.

Allie, You look great! Glad you had a great time. We're putting our tree up today as well. The outside lights are going to have to wait, the wind is really whipping here.

I have officially hit the mid way mark. I've lost 77 pounds and want to lose another 77. I hope it happens but honestly, i'd be thrilled with 50! It seems like i've slowed down so i'm picking up my exercise. Maybe that will help. I can't remember the last time I felt this good!

Happy 6 Mos Bandiversary, June-Bugs!
Katies replied to Great2BThin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Dec 9th will be my 6 month "Bandiversary" I can't beleive it has gone by so quickly. I thought after surgery it would take forever and here it is. Some of the things I have learned: I ate out of boredom and the heavier I got the more I ate. I can survive without all the junk food and McDonalds. I learned I wasted too much time just existing and now have a new outlook on life. ie: Parasailing (never would've done that 6 months ago) I learned that I deserved and it was ok to spend some extra time on myself, the family will survive! I learned what it feels like to feel good about myself. I'm still learning to accept compliments. (the are coming much more often and i'm still uncomfortable with them, maybe at 1 year i'll be better) I'm still learning to not hate the camera! This surgery has really changed my life! -
Thanks for the warm welcome to the club! I'm still angry and hurt, however, I will not let it derail me from my goal. Six months ago it would have sent me running to Ben & Jerry's for some NY Fudge Brownie Ice Cream. Not any more!! It has only made me more determined to get to my goal weight and live the best life possible. I'm glad people are still here posting after all this time. I did not post much but I do read them daily. It is so helpful to have others going through the same process at the same time as you. Does anyone attend outside support groups? I still go to mine every month, they also have them weekly but I just do the monthly meeting, they are an hour away and it makes for a really long workday. I wish Snuffy was still here, I really liked seeing that spreadsheet change. I often wonder how the other Jazzy Junes are doing that don't seem to post any more. I hope everyone is having much success!

Can I join the support group too? I found out 2 months ago that my "best" friend has been emailing my Dh how much she loves him and wants to be with him. What is with these so called "best" friends? Could it be that they are jealous of us? Wow! What a switch!!! And mine was totally cute and thin! Needless to say, she is out of our lives forever and she didn't get what she wanted. She just wasn't woman enough and definately isn't good enough for me. The only thing she succeeded in was proving I really have to watch who I trust.

I'm so glad i'm not the only that loses this way. I never lose the 2 weeks before TOM. Then i'll drop 5-10 pounds over the next 2 weeks. I don't know why it happens this way, I can only assume i'm retaining water that is off setting the actual weight loss.

Thanks so much!! We had a great time and really the best part was keeping up with Dh and my 2 boys. Our hotel room was on the 3rd floor and it seemed like half the time the elevator wasn't working, but I was able to bop right up 3 flights of stairs without feeling like I was going to drop dead. The people were so friendly and I didn't feel like the giant elephant in the room that people tried to ignore. I met so many people, we had a blast. I'm so glad I made this decision.

My daily news for today!!! I'm on my way home from the best vacation I've ever had!!! I spent a week in Key West and after losing almost 70 pounds I can finally do activities with my family. I went sailing on a catamaran, rented wave runners, and the best part...I went parasailing. That's right I had my fat butt hanging in the air up 300' and it was awesome. I never would've done that 4 months ago. Life is changing so fast and so am I. This is incredible! I love my band!! Its true what they say about my new birthday, June 9, 2008, I finally started living again!

I'm not sure what I can say to help her get past the plateau but I do know that I tend to loose for a couple weeks then stop for a couple weeks. I had my surgery June 9th and as of this morning i'm down 67 pounds. I've lost steadily for the last 2 weeks but for the 2 weeks prior to that the scale didn't budge. Just keep encouraging her and tell her to hang in there. It will move again.

Hi Jazzy Junes! I'm 3 months post op and things have been going great. I'm down 53 pounds and have had only 1 fill for 2 cc's. I'm not feeling any hunger unless I don't eat for 4 or more hours. It seems like everyday I realize more and more the good things that are starting to happen. My heals no longer hurt when I walk, i've stopped snoring and getting around and moving is so much easier. I can't wait to see what else is to come. Only question I have is...Does everyone loose weight in cycles? I tend to lose for 2 weeks then stay the same for 2 weeks. I will drop 7 - 10 pounds in those 2 weeks but then nothing. It can be a bit frustrating waiting for it to start again.

Has anyone been banded at an MTF? I've been referred to Walter Reed Hospital and am looking to find any information on their proceedures/requirements.
-
Whoo Hoo, I'm singing the 50lbs song today too!!!
-
Hey Snuffy, I just got my first fill, had surgery June 9th. I also didn't know if I needed one. I'm not hungry unless I don't eat for 4 or 5 hours. I've lost 44 pounds so far. I only decided to go through with the appointment because its so hard to get an appointment with my surgeon, he's carrying the whole load himself. I got 2 cc's today and man I sure can feel it. I'm hoping this keeps my loss going.

Do you reward yourself for weight loss milestones?
Katies replied to LisaB411's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also reward myself. I'm doing them for every 25 lbs lost. I bought earrings I wanted for the first 25lbs. Not sure what the next reward will be yet but its only 7 lbs away. -
I've lost 43 pounds as of this morning, so far. I was banded 6/9 and still haven't had my first fill. I'm still deciding if I need one since i'm losing and not hungry unless I don't eat for 4 or 5 hours. Everything is going really well, I'm loving this.
