    Random Thought/Question

I was told no bread, rice, or Pasta for 2 months post surgery because it swells in your stomach once it become moist which will cause your new pouch to stretch. I am a huge carb lover, but after hearing that I dare not eat it. It's tempting, but it's not worth it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Acid-reflux - week 2

Come to think of it, the food was a bit dry. I'll purée the the food instead of mashing it and see if it makes a difference. This was a huge help, thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Acid-reflux - week 2

I barely eat, although I'm in the puréed stage the NUT wants me to focus on getting fluids in, more so than eating. I drink Water and Protein shakes during the day, with apple sauce or pudding in between as Snacks, 1 cup last me for two servings. I wait about an hour after my last drink before I eat dinner. My food is on a desert plate and I use a baby spoon. I'm going to call my doc tomorrow to see what I could be doing wrong, or if there is something wrong. Thanks for your response! Acid-reflux - week 2

Thanks for your response! I would have to ask my doctor to see if it's okay to increase my dosage. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm in week two for vsg, surgery was 8/29. I'm in the puréed stage and I'm finding that every time that I eat, I burp my food back up. I guess what would be acid reflux, but it's without the burning acid taste. I've been eating salmon, not puréed by blender, but I mash it out really well with sweet potatoes. It's hard to finish the little meal that I prepare because it's coming back up. I take 20mg of omeprazole daily in the a.m, but this doesn't seem to be helping. Did anyone else go through this? Am I doing something wrong? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgeon Requirements

Hi Imwilla. I also have UHC and I have to wait 6months for approval. I started on my appointments already since I have a tentative surgery date of Sept. 12. My surgeon doesn't require 1/2 of what I need to do. I have to see a nutritionist once a month for 6months, and see all different kind is specialist for clearance. I have a friend who paid out of pocket for her surgery, and the only thing the surgeon required was an endoscopy, ekg, psyche eval, and medical clearance from her primary. I hope all goes well for you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    It's happening!

Hello Everyone! I am so glad that I stumbled across this app. It feels good to know that I'm not alone on this sleeve journey. Like some of you, I've struggled with my weight pretty much all of my life. Currently, I am the biggest that I've ever been, 340lbs Yikes ! I decided to do the surgery after I managed to gain an additional 40lbs, after losing 30lbs. It has been a losing battle for me when it comes to weight loss. I know the surgery is not a solution for weight loss, but more of an aid to a healthier and happier lifestyle. My surgery isn't scheduled until September :-/ because of my insurance I have to wait 6months before having it done. It's good in a sense to get me better prepared for a complete lifestyle change, however, I am super anxious to get it done. I can't wait to have a normal life where I can tie my shoe laces again lol.
