Are you on a PPI? Your hunger pains could actually be acid.

One of the Chinese buffets around here allows people to do takeout from the buffet items and it is priced per pound of food in a takeout container. We went there for Father’s Day and they let me do takeout and eat it at the table with everyone else. I was careful to choose only protein that was not breaded or deep fried, and had minimal sauce. I enjoyed what I had and it only cost me $4.

For the love of the gods, husband, if you insist on buying chips, keep them on the top shelf where I can ignore them. I have asked him nicely, more than a few times since being sleeved in March to put that stuff where I can't see it. Instead, he leaves the open bag on the bottom shelf of the cupboard with the plates and bowls. I go to get my little plate on which to put my 3oz of chicken, only to be greeted with the aroma of deep-fried goodness in the form of a potato. No, I don't believe that he is trying to sabotage me, he just truly has no comprehension of my deep-seated issues with potato chips. You see, chips and I, we were BFFs. But alas, no longer. Husband looks at me like I am crazy when I tell him to put the bag out of my sight, until finally I ask him, "Would you leave alcohol out in the open in front of an alcoholic?", and I see the light bulb go on. He sorta gets it. And the chips are moved. One step at a time, my friends. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I will ask him to do this instead. I don't buy the chips since I don't eat them, he will go out and get them himself. I like the small bag idea. Kale chips I have done, and they were more effort than they were worth. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Lies we told ourselves when we were fat
Scotchjade replied to NikkiDoc's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I kept telling myself that I didn't look as big as I actually was, that I carried my weight well. Now, only 3 months after sleeve, I look at the pre-sleeve pics and realize how wrong I was. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Have you tried the shakes at different temperatures? I found that I could only tolerate mine at room temperature. Others could only tolerate them warmed like hot chocolate, etc.

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
Scotchjade replied to psvzum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out weighing daily but realized that I was obsessing too much about the number and becoming worried when my weight loss wasn't as much as others here at BP. I am now not weighing myself at all. I get weighed at my appointments with the Nurse Practitioner. I just had my three- month post surgery check-up, and will have another appointment in another three months. -
My Nurse Practitioner allows for non carbonated alcohol at the one month mark, in moderation. As I am not a drinker, it is a non-issue for me, but yes, some programs allow for it.

costco and Walmart carry some, but I buy mine online at vitacost. There are Canadian online companies that also carry Protein powders. Lowcarbcanada and thelowcarbgrocery, for example. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

What Has Been the Hardest Habit for You to Break?
Scotchjade replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I found a free app called "Time Your Bites". You can set the amount of seconds between bites and have your phone buzz or make a noise when it is time for another bite. This app has helped me slow down considerably. -
Huge BLOWOUT Sale on BariatricPal Products!
Scotchjade replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
It would be great except that shipping to Canada was $35 for protein bars. -
I just need to vent and so this might not be completely coherent. I know that much of what I am venting about has all been said before, as well, so my apologies, but you guys are the only ones who understand. I was sleeved on March 14. I have been on full fluids since March 16 and won't move to soft food until my one month appointment with the Nurse Practitioner and Dietitian. I am so sick of yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, Gelatin, pudding, and creamed Soup. I am okay with Protein shakes. Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks of this and I have another 11 days to go. It is to the point that I have no desire to eat at all, if I could, I would spend the next 11 days with Protein drinks alone. I won't, but honestly, eating has become a chore, something I dread. I have been following my meal program as I should. I am supposed to get 60-80 protein, 2 litres of Water and have 900-1200 calories. I am within those targets. The scale stopped moving 1.5 weeks after surgery. My surgery weight was 297 lbs and I have been stuck at 286 since March 24. I know that I am still healing and such and I know that I should chuck the scale, but it has been disheartening. I started back on my recumbent bike last Monday, hoping that would jump the metabolism, but no such luck. I know things will start moving along again, I am just feeling particularly frustrated today. Thanks for "listening". Cheers, Roxanne

Thanks for the support and suggestions, everyone. I contacted my dietician and I am to stick with the plan for now. I have been feeling better about it all since Sunday. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Where Are All The East Coasters?
Scotchjade replied to Zedsmummy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello all! I was just sleeved on March 14 in St. John's, NL. I was on the wait list for 3.5 years. Everything has gone well so far. Sent from my C6616 using the BariatricPal App -
Last thing I remember is arguing with one of the nurses that, no, I did not have a CPAP machine because I do not have sleep apnea, all while I had the oxygen mask on my face. She kept insisting that I must have sleep apnea. My surgeon and anesthesiologist both told her that I didn't, so she finally shut up. The first thing I remember coming to in recovery was how empty it was. There was only one other patient there with me. Sent from my C6616 using the BariatricPal App
