Hi guys!! I am 8 days out and have had the shoulder pain from right after surgery slowly return. It became noticeably worse when I laid down, shooting up the left side of neck. How long did this last with you guys? Best, Sanju

10 month update, 129 pounds down with pictures
sanjumelts posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keep pushing! There will be days where you will think this was not worth it. Look through your old pics and remember how you felt at the time. I know during this time of my life, I was at my biggest, very depressed, and completely heartbroken. This surgery has been a great tool the kick started all the changes in my life. I will forever stay humble. Weeks out: 24 SW: 371 CW: 240 WL: 131lbs -

NOT the easy way out...
sanjumelts replied to bodyslmmn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This no longer becomes a matter of question the longer you're out of surgery. I'm about 10 months out, 130 pounds down. I weight lift for an hour 5 days a week along with 30 mins of cardio everyday. Weeks out: 39 SW: 371 CW: 240 WL: 131lbs -
I am a week short of 2 months out and feel like I could eat more now. For example, I just had a 6" turkey breast flatbread with onions, green pepper and tomatoes with a tiny bit of honey mustard from subway. I ate 3" took a break and ate the other 3" about a half hour later. Did I eat to large of a meal? And did I eat the other half to soon? Best, Sanju

You got this! I had the same feelings the night before. It can be described as bittersweet. All I can say is that your life will feel better than it ever has a month from now. First 2 weeks may be tough, and the 3rd and 4th week a bit awkward getting accustomed to eating with your new pouch. The rest is history Weeks out: 16 SW: 365 CW: 285 WL: 80lbs

Limit carbs to below 30g a day, and get them in before 4pm. Keep your protien high! And get some healthy fats in (don't go to crazy, they are caloric) Drink all the Water you can find. Your body will have no choice but to burn fat, when it no longer has carbs! Weeks out: 16 SW: 365 CW: 285 WL: 80lbs

Bad breath during pre-op liquid diet
sanjumelts replied to Dinks97420's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bad breath is a thing during ketosis, when your body switches to burning fats instead of carbs for energy. You're losing weight, but more importantly fat! Good look! Weeks out: 16 SW: 365 CW: 285 WL: 80lbs -
Cut carbs after 4pm and drink lots of Water. The carbs you do have before 4pm should be limited to about 30g. Burning fat and not carbs is key. Focus heavely on protien, and healthy fats. Be careful with the fats, they have a bit more than double the calories per gram when compared to protien and carbs. And relax! You will get through this! Good luck! What I wish I had known...
sanjumelts replied to justhere4theshow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The part about people watching, very true. But other than that, follow the program. Keep the protien up, carbs low. Fats somewhat low due to the higher calories per gram when compared to carbs and protien. Carbs low because you want to try your best to keep your body burning fat and not carbs throughout the day. Drink Water. Drink protien shakes with low carbs. Try your best to avoid any drinks other than the mentioned. Lift weights. This applies to both women and men. Helps keep the skin tight, and the body from losing muscle during your extreme calorie deficit after surgery. If you find yourself in a stall, drink your way out of it. This drink being water. Also, have your carbs before 4pm in the day. Limit them to below 30g for the whole day, this way your stay in ketosis. Myfitnesspal is your friend. Good luck to anyone pursuing this huge positive change in their life! Find what works for you but follow A PLAN! Do not just wing this! Weeks out: 15 SW: 365 CW: 287 WL: 78lbs -
I do not have a band, I have a sleeve. What works for me is a protien shake with some carbs in the morning (I aim to stay around 300 calories for breakfast). I usually cannot get both down at once so start with the carbs and have my shake about an hour later. I have strictly protien for lunch and dinner. 4 Oz each serving of lean meat, or a protien shake. I aim for 25 carbs a day, all taken in before 4pm (during breakfast) if possible. This helps keep your body in ketosis, and as long as you stay in ketosis, you will lose weight. The above is about a 650 calorie a day diet... you can increase your protien servings to meet your calorie goal, but try not to move the carbs to much. Good luck! I HOPE you meant 6" and not 6'!But guys, why isn't anyone talking about the fact that @@jennjones5 is eating 6' sandwiches with all fixings? I only ate a measly 1/12th of that Best, Sanju One reason is because she's 6 months out from surgery - big difference. She also didn't ask what our thoughts were on the fact she ate a 6" sandwich (in 2 meals - only 30 minutes apart). This post needs to be put to bed!The joke was 6' vs 6" = 6 foot vs. 6 inch. I wasn't trying to make a point about 6 months out vs 2 months out... but you were to trigger happy to realize the difference. When you can't understand different unit symbols, and try to make a point about me through making a parallel that was derived from a total lack of understanding... I have no words. Alright I'm done with this thread ✌ Thanks again everyone for all the advice. Best, Sanju -
4oz of lean turkey meat for proportion. Best, Sanju

I would stick to the protien shake in the morning but substitute lunch and dinner with lean ground turkey cooked with some light seasoning and like spice. Also, for a snack, I would have a Greek yogurt. You will end the day around 600 calories, and around 90 grams of protien. Hopefully this will help you! Best, Sanju

When I taught, I learned from my students because they challenged me. Now I own a local business and I learn the most from my team members because I give them the ability to try new things in the work process. Regarding my sleeve, I learned the most from people who were willing to call me on my actions, point out my flaws and challenge me to do better. If I wanted pat answers and warm fuzzy advice, I'd have visited my Aunt Marie. Probably would have enjoyed a slice of her amazing coconut cake while there, too. We keep coming back to the same issue of hard advice vs soft advice. When the real issue here is that my dozen roses have wilted waiting for you... Best, Sanju -

My original reason for mentioning that I was preparing for lecture was because I was eating the sandwich while doing so. I'm not trying to mask anything, I put it out there to get opinions on the whole experience. It was to imply that I was distracted while eating. Also, I do not see anything wrong in inviting the community in public forums to attend free lectures in a public university. I will continue to do this in future posts. My hope isn't that someone gives a **** about my work, but it is that they continue to learn about the subjects after they have attended an lecture, and hopefully are able to further their education. Thanks for your input. Best, Sanju -
Below are 2 month updates! I'm now 58 pounds down but haven't took my update photo yet. At my heaviest (364 lb) This suit while tight in this picture, is super loose now! (360 lb) A few days before surgery, last days of liquid fast! (339 lb) Day 2 out, drinking my first ounce of water! My first soft food meal, later learned to avoid ketchup unless it's organic (325lb) ! And a little over a week ago while training (309.5 lb) My weight loss is still going very strong. My weigh in for this week was a 302, so almost at the 60 pound mark! If anyone is on the fence about surgery, I hope these help. Best, Sanju

I've been listening to Baby Come Back by Player the whole day waiting for you to write back. I've been fighting it, but I can't any longer. I need a feisty lady like yourself. I know we started off on the wrong foot, but listen, no don't walk away. Just listen... Hi guys! I am currently a couple days from being a month out. I have lost about 23 pounds. I have noticed that my weight has been lingering in the same area for the past 1-2 weeks. Most of my weight loss happened in the first one 10 days post op. I have heard of the 3rd week stall but how long does this thing last? I am on soft food at the moment. Best, Sanju
