Boston/ Massachusetts peeps! Looking for a group of sleevers in my area!
BigInBoston replied to dawnmac3903's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Boston Medical Center has a monthly support group for bariatric patients in Quincy. You don't have to be a BMC patient to attend and many young women (problably in their late 20s/ early 30s) spend time together outside of the group. -

That is fantastic progress! Well done! -
Hi all, I started my pre op diet of high Protein, low carb, low calorie (1000-1200 a day) last Monday and managed to lose 12 lbs in week one. In the first 3 days of week 2 I havent lost an ounce. If anything I have actually consumed fewer calories this week so I am a bit annoyed. Did this happen to anyone else? Is a 3 day stall enough to need to change things up already? Thanks! Amber

Pre-op Diet - Week 2 Stall
BigInBoston replied to BigInBoston's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@jane13 Yes I do have a weightloss goal before surgery (30lbs). In the past I have been able to drop that much weight in 4-5 weeks (just not keep it off) so I was hoping to do the same this time so I can get cleared for surgery. Thats the only reason I have been obsessively weighting myself everyday. That's not something I intend to keep up. I have an appointment with my dietitian next week so I will just check in with her to see if she has any recommendations. Thanks all. -
Pre-op weight loss?
BigInBoston replied to loca_lette813's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon is requiring that I lose at least 5% of my body weight. I think it doesn't just depend on your surgeon but your weight as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hello all, I am a newbie to the forum so I apologize if this is already answered elsewhere. How did you all go about getting surgeon stats (Number of sleeve's performed, complication rates, etc.) before picking a program? This whole process seems backwards to me in that all of the hospitals I have talked with seem to require multiple appointments for behavioral assessments/ nutritionists, or committing to a fill day new patient orientation, before I would be able to speak with a surgeon or get their stats. This seems like a extremely inefficient way to decide who I'd like to pick as my surgeon. Did anyone have any success navigating this process? Many thanks, Amber

That makes sense and that is how I was expecting the process to go! I was told that I can't meet with the surgeon until I complete a number of other appointments (behavioral health screening, nutritionist, and orientation). Is this a red flag? I've seen a number of other people from this forum use the same program and surgeons so I assumed this was just the normal sequence of events!
