  4. What are some other types of surgeries that have leave scars similar to bariatric surgery? I'm choosing to not tell a lot of people about my surgery, and I'm just wondering if (in the case of me actually feeling comfortable in a bikini this summer for the first time ever) there are any other surgeries that would leave scars similar to the 5 relatively small laparoscopic surgery scars? Post Op Liquids

I agree with you, I am now technically 9 days post op (2:18 am and I had surgery on the 9th of March) and Im feeling almost back to normal (meaning not feeling any pain/nausea) and am having no problems getting liquids in. I was having lots of trouble a few days ago, but that *seems* (knock on wood) to have gone away. The only thing I am having trouble with is the instant carnation no sugar added with the simply smart milk. I just want to puke every sip I take of it so I've found another replacement (: Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. (Please note, you do have to drink 4 a day to get the 60g Protein requirement though) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. While it does have a little sugar, at this point I don't care lol! I'm able to get one down in a 30 minute period and it stays down without causing my stomach to feel like absolute crap! Those with dairy issues will absolutely have a problem with these, but I love them! I even got vanilla ones to make smoothies with. I got sleeved on the 9th of March (: http://www.stonyfield.com/products/yogurt/op/strawberry Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Young and ready to change

Congratulations on making the extremely hard decision to finally take a stand and make yourself healthier! I'm in the same boat as you except I'm 21 (: got sleeved on the 9th of March after a year or so in the pre op program, and feeling great! Good luck on your journey!! Fluids/protein

I'm exactly a week out from surgery (had mine on March 9th), and I am experiencing the exact same problem! I have a huge Water bottle that I try to bring every where with me (I think it's about 30-40 oz), and that helps, but I very rarely finish the whole thing. I am planning on trying the premier Protein shakes like others have suggested. I will suggest to NOT get the GNC Unflavored Protein powder.... It's gross lol. I figured it would be a great way to add protein and it gives everything a very chalky taste. I am hoping to get some vanilla protein powder to help with making protein smoothies, and hopefully that will help. Good luck!!

    Discouraging family member......

Do what's best for you! They have absolutely no right to your life at all. They aren't being supportive and that really really sucks, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this but just keep your head up! My BEST friend told me my stomach would explode and I'd die instantly the first time I over ate. Yeah.... Not true obviously, but you can't let stuff like that phase you (I know, easier said than done). But everything will be fine. Just do what you know is right. I just was sleeved on the 9th of March, and I haven't regretted it one bit. You will do amazingly, and you've been in the program a year already right? You've shown yourself (which is most important) how dedicated you are to going through this process. Just think about what is best for YOU and keep your head up. Stay strong girl, you're almost there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Thank you guys! I am trying this to help out a little, we'll see how it goes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I'm going through the same thing right now (: only a handful of people know. I'm probably going to tell the rest of my family about 5 weeks or so out, when it becomes super super noticeable. I don't think I would ever post it on Facebook though. Just for personal reasons, as I feel that it's my decision and I would be afraid of the judgement or the classic "she took the easy way out" -even though we all know that's not true! Everyone's choices are different though, and I did make an anonymous Instagram account to show my progress and get support that way. Haven't posted anything of course, but it's a work in progress! I recently got sleeved (March 9, 2016) and so far everything is good! The way I looked at it was once you tell people you can't take it back. The people in your life really don't have a right to know as it is your body. You can tell them whenever (if ever) you want to. There are some people that I'll never tell, and I make sure to tell just those that I know will keep my secret (: Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Let me just clarify I am on a diet plan that allows me to have puréed Soups already Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. So I very very recently got sleeved (on March 9th). I am super excited to be moving on to stage 2 of my diet -i never thought I would be this excited for vegetables!- but I'm having problems getting the protein/liquids in. I can't stand drinking just Water, so I have been drinking diluted cranberry juice (which I found out I also have a UTI right before I went into surgery but they never put me on meds - long story). That has helped a lot, but I'm still not getting the Protein intake I need. What are some good, liquid diet options, for protein intake? I am almost at the point where I just want to chuck the "Breakfast carnation" drinks out the window. I'm soooo sick and tired of drinking them. They hurt my stomach, but I can get puréed vegetable Soup down just fine. Any hints? I am absolutely terrified about the hair loss as well. Was it super noticeable?
