Pre-op Protein diet...anyone else?
Lori_NC replied to Miss Snowflake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am drinking Carnation Instant Breakfast - low sugar, the blue box. Its not bad but my Dr. wants me to drink 6 a day. It only comes in Chocolate and my thought is that I am sure that I will get bored. I am on day 2 of it for two weeks. Should be scheduling surgery this week for the week of the 10th or the 17th. After surgery I was told to drink Unjury, I have tried Chocolate and Strawberry - both weren't bad. -
So I have done everything that I can possibly do, all the tests are done, psych, nutritionist, phone calls made to get any and all information that was required. Today I had my follow up appt with the nutritionist and was asking if they received the psych report. I know it will be a recommendation based on what was said in the appt but Im not a 100% certain they have it yet. Well I was told that when they have everything and the insurance approval, they will call me to schedule. I cant stand waiting. I have very little patience when it comes to these things. I realize I am not the only patient but then again.... its me and I want everything now. I read another thread on here where someone said "good things come to those who wait" blah blah blah.... lets go already, Im ready to start this new adventure!!! I have certain dates that I can do the surgery and miss work do to my court schedule and I was HOPING to do it the week of the 10th, guess thats out the window.... now Im looking at the end of March..... UGH!!!!!

Hang tight & wait.... UGH!!!!

amsderb, I was told 2 - 5 days once they submit the paperwork. I guess because when I went to the initial appt, my Nurse Practioner there told me really she thought there would be no issues, based on the info she had and her experience. She said "just pick a date". So because of her attitude and even mentioning there was a possibility of doing it in Feb (my initial appt was early Feb), I am ready to go. I do realize that I am lucky since BCBS in NC is very laid back and they dont have many requirements. But, lets go lets go!! Im just so excited to start. I got them what I had to, so all the Dr's and nutiritionist need to get their paperwork done...... -
Psych evaluation & depression?
Lori_NC replied to hopefulmom25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Behonest because what I understand is that they are making sure you understand what will be happening to you by having the surgery, even the possible negative side affects, confirming that you wont purposefully try to induce voimitting, that you have a good source for help, you arent against seeing a therapist if you realize that your food addiction is continuing on and that you are ready to make a change in your diet. My therapist knew that I was previously seeing someone for depression and various other issues and she was WONDERFUL! -
Thanks for the laugh TX diva..... Im also going for a psych eval, mine is tomorrow and that is the last approval I need to submit for insurance approval. My dr's office has said that BCBS typically gives them an answer within 2-5 days of submitting.... now that was shocking. I want to get a date set and start my jouney = hopefully in March 08.

I hit a milestone - 100 pounds gone!
Lori_NC replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sue congrats!! Just like others have said you are an inspiration and give us hope that we can do it as well as you have. I am so excited and cannot wait to start my jouney! -
Cosmo, I feel the same way and yet I am excited and cant wait to start watching myself change. I am definitely going to take a picture each month after the surgery and see the results as I go. I have come across several people on here you did that and it was amazing and I also think it may make a difficult time easier... maybe I will post the pics on my frig or just in the kitchen in general. Good luck!!

Why no caffeine and no carbonation
Lori_NC replied to yellowroseaz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I swear I could have started this thread...... I am freaking out about not having my diet pepsi. I feel like I could give up almost anything else but that......my nutrionist said that I will be one of the ones that tries and makes myself very sick. Maybe not after all the reading I have done on this site but then again.... maybe. LOL.. from the very depressed Lori (only because of the soda loss...lol) -
Thanks John. Good luck to you as well.

Hi, I am Lori and I am in the Charlotte area. I have a 26 month old daughter, I am a single mom and work full time. I am in pretty good health but I have always struggled with my weight. I have thought about gastric for years but only the bypass. I have recently been researching the band and have gone to the Dr's to have the procedure preformed. I am approved by the Dr and the nutritionist but I am pending the Psychologist and insurance approval. I have my psych appt Monday morning and I believe that should go ok but of course I am not 100% certain. While I know the Dr's office and nutritionist support the surgery, I wonder if there will be an issue on the psych or insurance. The Dr's office has advised me that insurance will not be an issue as long as they, the nutritionist and psych support the surgery.... but still you wonder, what if? I am very ready to have this surgery and cant wait to start on my transition. I have been on this site and reviewing posts for the last week and I am excited and nervous about what I read. I can only hope that all goes well and that I find the added help that I apparently have needed for years. I hope that in a week or two I am able to come on here and inform everyone that I have a date set for surgery.
