  1. Well my history is banded 3/28/08 and 1st fill was on 5/5/08. I have a 10cc band and the Dr put in 5cc's. 2nd fill was on Monday 6/9/08 and I explained that I had lost weight mainly during the first 2 wks after my fill. Since that time I have been grazing and eating normal portions - like prior to surgery - for the most part. I have been making better choices but still eating more than recommended. So the NP gives me 2cc bringing me up to 7cc's. I left feeling tight. They recommended that I try eating normal foods just on the mushy side. I tried and it took me 45 mins to eat very little - my 2 1/2 yr old daughter ate 3/4 of the same meal while I ate 1/4. By Mon night I was having acid reflux and could not get or keep water down. Middle of the night was major acid reflux and water coming up. Yesterday I took numerous Pepcid ac's and went back to trying protein shakes. Worked in the am but not in the pm. By the pm and later evening everything was coming back up. Last night I was coughing and now nothing was staying down so I decided to sip/drink nothing but still had fluid coming up. Let me also state that on Mon evening I realized I had a sinus infection coming on and a sore throat. This and the acid reflux together was making life hell. I talked to the Dr's office this morning and since the reflux calmed down and now protein drink is staying down, as well as 1/2 of a yogurt they want me to update them this afternoon. I am hoping that it was just me trying regular food rather than liquids that put me thru this hell for the last 2 days, but I did as I was told. Nurse thinks that the food may have been a little to early and that since I was sick and then you add swollen all adding to my misery. Im sticking to bland liquids today and tomorrow, if this continues well today. If not, then Im going in for a small unfill.
  2. I went in today for a small unfill. Dr removed just under 1/2 cc. Now I feel perfect!
  3. My Dr states that you can eat after a fill but I apparently cant tolerate so I am back on liquids. I just posted a thread about the hell I went through. Hoping that all is well from here on.

How much was your 1st fill

I have a 10cc band and my Dr put in 5cc's for the first fill. I went back for my second fill on Monday and they put in another 2cc's. Its been a rough few days but I think I finally may have adjusted to the fill.

    Breakfast ideas please

Now that sounds good. I have been using egg substitute instead of real eggs (unless I'm eating egg salad). That would drop the about 40 calories off. Thanks for the idea!!
  6. I have lost a total of 20 (15 pre-op & 5 post - although after surgery I gained 6.... ugh, but took those 6 off and 5 more!!). Congrats to all of us!!!!!

    Salt Addict

I am one as well. I bought "no-salt" and it tastes just like salt to me. I have been adding to my soups and broth as well as other dry spices.

    Liquid Stage Recipes

Just banded and my Dr allows me to have soup. I used a 1/3 of a can of cream of chicken soup (reduced fat), added 1 ounce of chicken breast, milk (to reach desired thin consistency), approx 1/4 cup of 2% cheddar cheese and added a little broccoli. I put this all on my majic bullet added some dry ingredients such as no-salt (salt substitute), pepper, garlic powder and onion powder and pureed it and heated..... it was a chicken divan soup and so yummy. Im finding that I am not very hungry and only taking in 2 shakes during the day and soup at night so I wanted more protein in this soup. It takes me 1 - 2 hrs to drink my soups so I dont feel sick from drinking it to quickly.
  12. Just banded 3/28 and I have some gas issues as well. Feels like something is sitting on my chest and I feel very bloated. Everytime I have walked around my house today I feel a little relief. Just keep moving.
  13. I agree with Indigo, follow your Dr's instructions to the T. Mine wanted a 2 wk liquid pre-op diet and I did it. I also lost 15lbs by following it. My view is only from the surgery point, I cant wait to see what happens from here. I had surgery 3/28 and have had mild discomfort and some gas issues. None in the shoulders as others have experienced, mine is more like something is sitting on my chest. The gas-x strips have worked wonders. Walk walk walk, immediately. I was up and moving within 4hrs of getting into my room. I was just a short walk, but I then later took a longer one and I keep pacing around my home. Im a single mom with a 2 yr old daughter and I have the weekend to re-cooperate before getting her back tomorrow afternoon from daycare. I plan on going back to work on Tuesday for 1/2 a day and then I have a full day of meetings on Wednesday. Just follow your Dr's advice.
  14. Im so sorry for your loss..... but get Isopure at GNC, it has 40 grams of protien and comes in a variety of flavors. They have drinks already made up and I have tried several this week while on my pre-op diet. They are very good and really do fill you up. Also, they are buy one and get one 50% off. I paid $15 for 4 bottles. Sip on one or two throughout the day and you should be good. Good luck.

So hungry on my pre op diet

Im also on the pre-op diet, my Dr says 6 liquid shakes a day. But he also gave me the option of replacing one or two of the shakes for a bowl of pureed soup. So last night I needed to have 2 more shakes and instead I had a bowl of tomato soup. I was very full. I was told to just keep my calorie intake at a max of 1000 cals. One thing I have noticed, if I drink right after I eat, I get hungry quicker. So I have started drinking my water, tea, juice, whatever, prior to drinking my shakes. Try that maybe it will help. My surgery date is the 28th and I just cant wait!!!

    March 28th!

I am also being banded on the 28th. I started my pre-op liquid diet as well. I had enough last meals to last a lifetime....lol. My liquid diet consists of soup, yogurt, drinks and mainly sf instant carnation breakfast shakes. I have pulled a lot of low sodium soups off the internet that are of the pureed nature so that I can fill up at lunch time. Im hoping that will satisfy me and then I can stick to the shakes before and after. I am so excited as Im sure you all are as well. It seems so far yet so close. I can't wait to start a new chapter in my life. Yah for all of us!!!

    January - Summer 2008 Challenge

  18. I was going to keep it secret as well. But, then I started trying to figure out how I suddenly was drinking shakes every three hours on the pre-op and then why I was suddenly eating so slowly. Well I told one and then another and another and then finally I told the office manager. I was so happy and excited and they as well have been so supportive. I also had to stop drinking the diet pepsi, which I was addicted to. That right there was going to send up red flags with this bunch of women....lol. Next to my daughter.... diet pepsi was almost equal. I was going to keep it from my boss as I didnt know how to discuss it with him, he is very detached from the office as a group in personal issues. But, today while we were at court and had some down time, I spilled the beans and he also was very happy and supportive. I really feel like I will need their support. My family is so tiny and separated, my co-wkrs are like my extended family. Good luck in your decision, it's yours to make and do as you wish.
  19. I understand why the Dr's would want to stop soda but does anyone have an idea about caffeine? I was a diet pepsi addict until last weekend when I quit cold turkey in preparation for my surgery. I did really good but I have very little energy and it would be nice to have some form of caffeine, even if in tea. Thanks for the replys.
  20. This has been a concern of mine. I have a 27 month old daughter and I am a single mom. She will be spending a few days with her dad while I have the surgery but then, for the most part she will be with me. Of course she always wants mommy to "pick up". I plan to discuss this with my Dr. next week when I meet with him.
  21. Count me in for March as well. I am the 28th so I expect you all to get on here quickly and update us and me before surgery..... I start my liquid diet next weekend, already gave up the diet pepsi. Good luck to everyone.

    I'm going nuts here!!!!!

Ok so I'll chime in..... I was freaking out about losing my diet pepsi. I mean to the point where a local radio show was having a contest for you to write a poem about anything you love - other than people. I had a poem in an hour or less... my ode to diet pepsi. I was originally sched for surgery on the 12th but it was moved to the 28th. I started my pre-op diet and cold turkey stopped the diet pepsi for 4 days. Then I found out we were changing the date of surgery. Well I started eating again, for about a week and I decided not to start the diet pepsi up again. I really cant believe I could let the diet pepsi go as easily as I have. Put your mind to it and you can do it. I drank probably atleast 8 a day and maybe one or two glasses of water. Now Im all water. milk and a glass of juice here and there. Good luck.
  23. I am also scheduled on 3/28/08. I cant wait. I was scheduled for 3/12 but the Dr had a conflict arise. Hate that I have to wait but atleast it will be done before my birthday in April..... this is my present to myself.
