  1. I flew to Arizona last month (4 hour flight). I had already had 2 fills at that point. I did fine without any problems. I did not eat while flying, but did OK drinking water during the flight. Have fun at Disney!

    Hello from WV

My husband and I both had to pay our Out of Pocket to the hospital the day of surgery. It was $750 each.

    Hello from WV

Meshcultz- I like to walk with my husband and son, too. We usually just do it for family time now, though. I walk faster and longer than my husband right now, so I don't get a lot of work out walking with him. But, we both got a bicycle and had been doing that together before it got too cold. That was a lot of fun and a great work out. Our youngest is 8 and he doesn't like to go because he said we make his legs hurt!

Hello and Welcome to the new people! I need to start measuring out my portions like that. I really think it would help! Zumba was fun tonight!! Wondering the same thing???
  6. Hi! It was easy to get approved, so long as you Dr. addresses each and every thing on that checklist. My Dr. did not on the first submission and I was denied. My Dr. resubmitted with the correct info being addressed and I was approved within 3 days. Good luck to you! Let me know if you have other questions.

    Hello from WV

I had zero restriction after my first fill. I had a little restriction after my second. I finally have restriction after my 3rd fill, almost too much! Hang in there. It is so frustrating because I know after your first fill that you feel like you went through all this hassel and feel no different than before surgery. I am going to try my best to be at Zumba tomorrow night, if I get off work on time! Elizabeth- Not sure what it is then. I'd call Jeannie and maybe she can give you some advice.

    Hello from WV

Elizabeth - It probably is the water. I drink at least 60oz a day and I actually have more BMs now than pre-band when I wasn't drinking as much water. My husband has had some problems and he's been taking chewable fiber tabs, but they can cause gas. If you can do ruffage like salad, you might try it, too. How's your Mom doing?

    Hello from WV

Elizabeth- Tell you Mom congrats!!! Glad everything worked out well for her. I know what you mean about worrying! My husband's surgery was over 4 hours and he was in recovery for another 4 hours! I was worried sick, knowing it should have taken less than 2 hours for the surgery! The problem they ran into was that he first put a 10cc band in and decided it was too small, so had to start over again with a 14cc.

    Hair Salon Tipping..how much?

I go to an Aveda salon, too, but they don't include tip. :smile2: It's usually $100 for a cut and foil color. I usually leave 15-20% tip.

    Hello from WV

Neither Dr. Kaplan or Jeannie arranged my appointment with the Pre-op testing at the hospital. I just received a call one day from one of the nurses in same-day care, after I saw Kaplan for my final visit. I had to do my questions over the phone before the EGD and actually had to go in the Saturday before my surgery to meet with a nurse to go over questions, sign surgery paperwork, etc. Because I was not on the 6 month diet plan and all my stuff happened pretty quick between March and June, I didn't have any further lab work done at that time. I would call pre-op testing at the hospital tomorrow. Tell them what day your EGD is and what day your surgery is. Tell them what day you can come to do your pre-op appointment with the same-day care nurse so they can go ahead and schedule it. They fill up pretty quick, so I wouldn't put it off until the last minute.

    Hello from WV

Infection is the only thing I can think of that would stop them. They would find that in your pre-surgery lab work because your WBCs would probably be up. You would probably also run a fever. I would make sure and tell the anesthesia doc when you meet with him/her before surgery about the cavities, though. Cavities make the tooth soft and you want to make sure they don't knock a piece of the tooth off when intubating you. You will meet with anesthesia at your pre-op physical (week before surgery) with one of the nurses who work in surgery. The hospital will call and schedule with you. It's seperate from Jeannie.

    Hello from WV

Yup, mine's the same way. I still have to pay the percentages that aren't covered, I think. We'll find out soon. I went to the ER 2 weeks ago for Gallbladder. Haven't got the bills yet.:smile2:

Elizabeth- I have Anthem BC/BS and still have to pay my co-pays, even though I have met both my individual and family out of pockets for the year.

    Hello from WV

Wow, this is different. I miss having the menu down the right side of the page. Good luck to your mom tomorrow, Elizabeth! It's good that you're there to support her through this. It has made it alot easier with my husband being there. Question for everyone...I think I'm going to do the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning. It's a 5K (3.1 miles) at the City Park in Parkersburg. My daughter did the last one with me, but she is going to be at her Grandma and Grandpa's on Thanksgiving morning (she's actually my step-daughter and it's her grandparent's year for Thanksgiving). I don't want to do it by myself. Is anyone interested? I did the last one in 45 minutes, so it's averages to about 14 minutes a mile. Just let me know!

I so miss doing Zumba, it's just so hard for me to get there on time! Hopefully next week will work out! It is a lot of fun!

    Since Banding I noticed...

Didn't happen to me, but I'm guessing it could be related to the anesthesia???

    Hello from WV

No, I don't think she was referring to you at all. I am a slow loser, too. But the point is, we're losing! I guess that some people aren't losing at all, or are gaining. I am still eating some carbs, too. For me, it's all about the portion control. I know that I can not live without carbs. I've tried it with a low-carb diet, but obviously fell off the wagon. I know that I can lose with carb and portion control, so that's what I'm doing and it's working for me. That's why I love my band so much! I would like a walking buddy, too. How fast do you walk? I'm doing about a 12-15 min mile, so not too fast. I know that this whole thing gets frustrating, but keep plugging away and we'll get there!

    Hello from WV

BTW- I have become such a slave to the scale. I get so mad when I don't lose or am up 1/2 lb or something. I have decided to stop weighing for now. I'm going to try to only do it once a week. I'll update when I finally break down and do it! :rolleyes2:

    Hello from WV

I think I lost 10 the first week and 5 the second. My preop went off of Jeannie's scale. Oh...my husband just said that he told him he wanted him to lose 10 lbs in those 2 weeks. (He ended up losing 20 lbs). He did not tell me any specific amount to lose, though.
