    Anesthesia Questions.

I was worried about the anesthesia, too, since I'd never gone under. The nice thing is they give you something to relax you before you get to the operating room and by the time you get on the table they do some magic and you're out. You don't feel or remember a thing and wake up in the recovery room. I think the only side effect I noticed was that it messed with my emotions. Make sure to keep an eye on your mood and let your Dr. know if you need help. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  2. I try not to tell many people but eventually people slowly start finding out. I kind of have the same reasoning- if they're not in the same position they won't understand and may be judgemental. I have come to the conclusion that I will divulge on a need-to - know basis but I will never be ashamed of it. Like my Dr. said, this is my "cross to bear" and no one else's. Help with saddnes

My depression/anxiety was well controlled before my surgery and now it's back, so I can understand. I have the same thoughts you do about the future. My husband had gastric bypass 2 weeks before me and he is doing SO good and feeling great. My nurse told me this week that generally the sleeve is harder for the 1st 3 months than the bypass (and I originally wanted the bypass but my surgeon suggested sleeve). Would have been nice to know before surgery. I have hopes that it will get better- not feeling yourself mentally or physically can be miserable. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Who was sleeved in January 2016?

I had my sleeve on March 8th and I also have a hard time eating in the morning. I just feel generally "yucky" in the a.m. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

    Gas smells horrible

I have horrible smelling and tasting burps. I told my bariatric clinic and they didn't seem worried. Told me to try GasX but that's not getting rid of them. Have had them for 2 weeks now (I am 1 month out) and am trying probiotics now. So far I still have them...I'm not sure how long it takes for probiotics to work, have been taking them for 4 days. I am fed up so I feel your pain! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  6. My husband didn't have a ton of weight to lose but he was told bypass for his diabetes, and now his diabetes has gone almost in full remission (he had it done Feb. 23rd). I think it depends on your age, your comorbidities, etc. Everyone is just a little different. I started the process around 300lbs and my Dr recommended the sleeve because of my age (36). The bypass is supposed to be a more complicated procedure but my husband has healed a lot better and progressed farther than I have with my sleeve (I'm a little jealous!). Good luck to you and I'm sure you will make the best of whatever procedure you decide on. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

    Nasty burping?

I'm not sure because they're not necessarily just after I eat, they are all day. Usually if I'm eating and I burp, they don't taste bad. It's almost like they are worse when I haven't had anything for awhile. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

    Nasty burping?

I don't blame you! They get to be pretty annoying. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

    Nasty burping?

I'm glad to hear it won't last forever! It's gross! Did your Dr give you the ok for taking Pepto (since it has NSAIDS)? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

  11. I am 3 weeks+ post op and when I started my pureed diet I immediately started getting these eggy, gross burps. I told my nurse about it and she said it could be excess gas because the smaller part of the stomach is folded over the larger part at the bottom so gas gets stuck, or that I'm not tolerating dairy at this time. I haven't had dairy for a few days now, and I have tried gas x (which she recommended) as well as keeping up with my prilosec. It's been only a week but it's really getting to me. Anyone else had this problem and please tell me it doesn't last forever? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  12. I agree with you. The first question I posted someone told me I was having head hunger when in fact my stomach was literally rumbling but I couldn't eat anything. Very good point. I understand about eating well and exercising. I have done that off and on pre-surgery and it didn't always help. Good luck in your journey! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  13. I had surgery on March 8th and it's really been hard for me the last week. I feel very depressed and down,l- I just don't feel like myself. My mind says it's normal and will pass, my heart and body just want to lay around and cry. So, yes! I've been experiencing this. I go see my normal Dr. next week and plan on talking to her about it. I hope you feel better soon, I sure know how it feels. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  14. I think you may be right. After I thought about it a little more, I did eat something that had a little more "flavor"...yes, I have 2 meds. Today I feel a bit better so it was probably something that just irritated my stomach. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  15. My doctors told me to cut or crush pills, and I don't think it was head hunger because my stomach had physical hunger pains. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
