    Struggling with food

Good for you for realizing that you really would prefer to change and are making the move to implement the change. Kudos to you! Good luck.

    Annoying Co-Workers

I had sleeve and have lost a lot of weight. I told no one but have had several positive comments. I just say low carb and high protein. It is MY business only and although I'm normally a very sensitive person I'm NOT allowing anyone into disturbing my WLS. Just ignore them. It is your journey NOT theirs!!

    Post op complications

Gina, I am so sorry you have had these complications. Please continue to follow your doctors advice and take care of yourself. I am also live alone (minus 4 leggeds) so I understand how difficult it is when you need to do everything yourself. I'm so glad that you have a counselor that can help you during this exhausting medical crisis. I agree, hang in there and although you are very tired try to write everything down that medical staff suggests. Maybe you can get a trustworthy friend to also be your sounding board during this difficult time. Please write often and provide an update. I'm sending up prayers and positive thoughts for you!!!

    Coverup Procedure/Hiding the truth

I'm 5 weeks out and have lost some - enough to really notice. I took 7 days of time off work. Those that asked I said that I had hernia surgery. When people comment on my weight loss I say " low carb and high protein." It is always different depending on the person asking. Only a very few know that I had surgery.

    Feeling Too Ill.. Help!?

I second @@Valentina post. Get the to a Bariatric surgeon for evaluation and review. Please provide an update and let us know how you are doing. Sending good thoughts out for you!
  9. I'm one month out and so far have been rather event free since getting my sleeve. Today I am getting this pain in my back every time I take a drink - of anything. Wonder what is going on! Today is my surgeons "surgery" day so I won't hear back until much later. I do NOT think this is ER worthy plus most staff is not aware of WLS or sleeve. Just curious if anyone here had experienced anything similar. I had band for over a decade and it feels like something is stuck. I didn't have the problem last night and drank until going to bed. Thanks.
  10. Thanks. I kept up small sips of Water and pain is finally gone. It was a wake up call because only thing I had between last night and this morning was my tiny synthroid. My mentioning band was to reference the same feeling as when food was stuck with band. It might have been my synthroid pill. But not sure why. I found with band moving arms and doing "chicken" walk worked. Works well with sleeve also.
  11. Super. Glad it worked for you
  12. I stand by what I said. I do NOT and would never suggest anyone accept any program offered by insurance company.
  13. Sorry. I am going to be very negative. RUN do not walk AWAY from anything a health insurance offers for FREE! You will end up paying for it later. Seriously I do NOT trust insurance companies with anything. Their purpose in existence is to MAKE money by not paying claims. Please do not think that an insurance company ever has your best interest at heart. You have your surgeon and his staff for support and guidance. Good luck
  14. If it were me in this situation I would get in writing the requirements of the results from your preop diet from both insurance and surgeon. Sounds like the NUT might be playing mind game here and that is disrespectful. Please find out the rules from the insurance company AND the surgeon.
  15. Don't panic when you hear this - I was sleeved on 5-25 and am on day 4 of my "stall." There is no rhyme nor reason for this other than body is adjusting. I was 259 before surgery and am 237 now. 4 day stall I am not worry. The body will readjust and will start losing again. I'm on full liquids and NOT ingesting anything that I shouldn't I'm getting my Protein and Water but my body is just catching up.

    Complications

I'm sorry you had a complication and its causing you pain. Sending positive thoughts your way that you start feeling better soon and can work towards your goal.
  17. @ I am a week out and feel great. Hoping for the best. I agree - no regrets form being banded but would not advise anyone to have band with the knowledge that I have now.
  18. @Jennay33 Was banded in July 2004, removed in December 2015 and just sleeved 5-25-16. I lost over 100 + pounds with my band and then lost and gained then finally ended up with about a 90 pound loss so I don't feel it was a total failure and I'm still glad that I was banded despite all of the difficulties. Now that I had my sleeve I feel good and am looking forward to continued success. Hope the small cyst on your spleen turns out to be benign and you can get back in the game and have Sleeve and back to losing. Please keep posting and let us know your status.

    Building a Post-WLS Wardrobe

Timely post. I found some items of clothing and knew they would come in handy while losing weight but did not yet fit and nabbed them. I now hope and pray that I can get down to a xl or l before the end of the summer. I'm talking basic pieces.

    My new live journey

@@lovemyself Good luck! Glad you researched and came to a decision. I just had the sleeve (revision from band) on 5-25 and feel good. I'm very glad that I took action. Keep in touch.
  22. One of the reasons for pursuing WLS again (had band and only lost 1/2 the weight) was to be able to get a job. I have a job - same job for almost 18 years but I'm 18 years older now and most probably going to need to find a job within the next year. Reality is that "weight discrimination" is the only socially acceptable form of discrimination left. I figure it would be hard to find a job let alone be hired being MO. I'm not sure what my dream job would be but I sure do hope to be able to find it or at least try to find it once I have the confidence that has been surely lacking being MO. NOT that I don't think MO people can be great employees and very gifted - of course they can but I think that I've always shirked from being my best due to my weight. I will never be a "pretty" person but I do think the weight loss will be a marked improvement in my inner confidence.
  23. @duckydoom Yikes - the band was12 years ago! From what I remember the band was pretty simple. I was outpatient with the band and back at work in just a few days - in fact it was either the band of the gallbladder out on a Friday and back at work on Monday. The sleeve involved a mandatory night in the hospital so the fluoroscopy could be done the next morning to check for leaks. Unfortunately, I had severe nausea and nothing seemed to help. I couldn't even drink Water. I struggled that second day and finally was able to hold down a sip of water and surgeon released me. I got home and healing was much better. I live alone and didn't have any problems and was up and doing chores the next morning. All in all it was a good experience just the problem with nausea bothered me but nausea left me by end of day three.
  24. @@duckydoom I had the band in july 2004 and finally had it removed dec 2015. I was able to lose over 125 pounds and then gained about 25 back. I still have 100 left to lose and had the sleeve last Wed. 5-25. Lots of scar tissue and liver was pretty much stuck to stomach due to numerous abdominal surgeries. Great drs managed to clear up the scar tissue, adhesions and get me sleeved. I'm looking forward to more success and less drama than I had with the band. Good luck on the 9th!

    Any one ride horses?

I've been involved with horses all of my life. I have also been varying degrees of overweight/obese all my live. I have ridden when not SMO but look forward to riding again. I have a horse now and do ground work with him but haven't ridden in some time. Any one else out there that can tell me the difference they experience in their riding?
