  1. Powerful, thanks for sharing ISG.
  2. Count me in also. Sending powerful good thoughts and wished for you!
  3. I was in support group last night and someone asked this question and response was miralax
  4. Wow, I am so sorry. I would actually not say anything to her. Possibly document, time date and place and what she says and then take to HR or Ethics. I agree with others - that type of behavior belongs in Jr. High! I know that we end up working with a wide variety of people at work but this one "takes the cake." My suggestion would be to take the high road and if necessary document so if you end up taking to HR it is not only a "he said she said" situation. Take the high road and keep doing a great job!

    NSV: Bathing Suit

Wonderful! I think this is a GREAT NSV. I can't wait for something like that to happen. I've not donned a bathing suit in many many many years. ISG - thanks for sharing!

    Best blender for puree?

Another vote for the Vitamix. It is a little pricy but it is wonderful - blends everything!

    Sleeve or Bypass

in 2004 I chose band over bypass. In 2016 I am choosing sleeve over bypass. It is all just personal choice. I do not like the idea of rerouting my intestines and several drs that I have seen said they have seen many complications from the bypass vs. sleeve. It is really personal decision. Keep doing research and try to learn as much as possible.

    This just got REAL!

Congrats on the surgery date. I was expecting an early May date but mine is not until May 25th. I'm happy for you and also understand why the nervous and excited at the same time. You'll do great!

    Hate Isopure

I use unhurt unflavored in crystal light and have had great success. No grit or thick taste. Good luck.
  10. I had band for 11 1/2 years and lost over 100 pounds but had to have it out. I'm getting sleeve next month 5 months after band removal. My surgeon has experienced lots of weight loss with band to sleeve revisions. My surgeon has mandatory 4 month weight once lose band so stomach can heal. I have never read anything similar to what your surgeon is stating. I would be concerned your surgeon might have another motive? Good luck with your decision.

    Drinking with meals-ever again?

I had band for over 11 1/2 years and I never drank with meals during that time. It was hard but a rule that I followed. When band was removed in December I started drinking with meals. This is one of the "rules"'that I found the most destructive. I followed the rule and had no problems with my pouch.

    Using OA as a support

Thanks, Kindle. I don't have time to attend an inperson meeting and 12 step meetings are not what I am looking for at this time. I doubt that I would find much relevant information in a OA at this time. I was just curious. I'm in therapy and attend a monthly support group with the surgeons office and with BP I think I've got all corners covered. I was just curious because I'm not sure how support OA would be with WLS.
  13. In another post someone suggested OA as a source of support. I have been to OA meetings several decades ago and did not hear or see anyone that had used WLS as a tool. The meetings that I attended (many many meeting) were mostly those dealing with bulimia. There were a few dealing with anorexia but mostly bulimics. I was not able to relate to the discussions and quit attending. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with OA "after" WLS.

    New to group

Good Luck Sherry! I'm a new poster also. Keep checking in, this place looks like there are good people here that are willing to help. I'm a month later - May 25th.

    Shame

Thanks, Inner Surfer Girl. Great quote - wish I could shed the shame. This is one thing that I do indeed struggle with and have yet to remove from my life. Weight is the number one shame at this time.
  16. Livendanow16 - I was banded in 2003 and had it removed December 2015. I lost 100+ with my band. I'm now waiting for insurance approval for sleeve. I think I can get the other 100 off with the sleeve and am very excited. Hope you find your research on new WLS helpful. I chose the sleeve as it doesn't reroute any of my intestines. Good luck.

    Any one ride horses?

Oh my. Thank you all for responding. Once horses are in your blood they are in your blood. My horse and companion pony live with me. I would LUV to hop on and just ride on the trails. I live in an area that allows me that luxury. I am so excited to see the difference that another 100 pound loss will mean to my riding.

    Any one ride horses?

Thanks, proudgranny. Kindle, these are all the things I am looking forward to doing. My boy is 16.2 so not sure I'll be mounting without an aid but looking forward to trying. Thanks for responding and hope you have a good time on your hunt.

    dead inside...

I am so sorry for your loss. Please seek out professional counseling. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you must be feeling. You took care of yourself by getting WLS now, please, take care of yourself again and talk with a professional to help you with your current situation. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Submitting to Insurance!

Thanks, B_D. Wouldn't that be wonderful to have approval so quickly! I have had WLS before so not sure why I am so nervous this time. I'm 12 years older yet 100 pounds lighter so it might be a wash. I'm looking forward to see what April 2017 brings for me and all other sleevers.

    Submitting to Insurance!

Mine was also submitted on April 12th. I am in hopes of quick approval but CIGNA is notorious for rejecting prior to approval. They rejected the removal of my lap band - had to have a peer to peer consult before approval. Fingers crossed for everyone to receive approval.
  22. When I still had my band I was at a professional meeting and some woman sitting next to me that I did not know said "why aren't you eating more?" Mind you I was not SMO anymore but still MO! I normally don't go out to eat because with band I never knew what would make me vomit. I'm hoping sleeve will be better for me. OP. Any response is acceptable even a "non response" response would be ok. Keep doing what you are doing - taking care of yourself.

Oprah ate my inner skinny person.

I also think body acceptance is a good thing. There are some people that truly do not have problems being large and they should be allowed tondo so without being ridiculed by our thin loving society. Me personally am not happy being morbidly obese nor do I want to be a diabetic or not be able to care for myself. I had a lap band for 11 years and lost 100 pounds. I had problems and had it removed I still have 100 more to go and want to use another tool so I'm not doing what I've done all of my life but I'm getting the sleeve. It is sad to see Oprah fail at weight loss so often and with her $$$$ and contacts it is all very sad. I'm scared to have surgery but for me this is how I can help myself have a better future.

Ugh. Will I ever get this surgery?!

Fingers and toes crossed that you get the date in writing soon.
  25. Add me to the list that thinks I'll fail. I've been overweight my entire life. I was 359 at highest and band got about 100 off but have 100+ to go. You are not alone but coming here for support is a good thing to do. Small steps add up!
