    Any one ride horses?

I'm fortunate that Hay is delivered and stacked in my hay room. I also feed it by flakes so not difficult. Mature pony normally gets a lot of warm beet pulp and liquids added to feed. Her beet pulp is still soaked but I just add cold Water (via hose) to mixture. I'm hoping to be "off" weight restriction sooner than later as I am used to lifting these weights also. I'm only 7 days out but already feel "lighter" on my feet and hoping for a positive summer. Used to HATE summer with my weight and the sweating and general yuck. Now maybe I will enjoy it a bit more. Still love Spring and Fall but maybe Summer won't be such a hardship at 100+ pounds thinner. It makes me happy to see all of the others here that have had success with their wls tools and it has benefited their riding. Truly a pleasure to see!

    Pain Scale

Very little post op pain here. No pain meds once out of recovery. Buy problem was nausea. I had a lot of nausea but it has stopped for the most part and I'm fine.

What did I do to myself?

Carlissa_rn I was sleeved 5-25 and was sick as a dog. Actually never seen a dog as sick as I felt. Surgeon almost kept me extra day because I was throwing back up fluids. Convinced him that I was ok to go home. Very tired and yes very giggly stomach and can still feel liquids going down intestines. Yes I also have fluids especially Jello go straight through me. It is very exhausting. I am just trying to get up and move and stay close to my house for rest room. I agree with others that I was killing myself with my obesity so taking this step was a positive move. The things that you seem to be experiencing now are things that I am experiencing also. I think all is ok with me just my body getting used to a new stomach Good luck. Sending out positive vibes your way.

Hey Kindle I get what you say about multiple trips vs one. I feed that way also. Just bedding and manure removal was a problem. You have done a great job! It helps me to see all of those riders that have been helped with WLS n

    Any one ride horses?

My surgery was 5/25 and the guy that I hired to take care of stalls and other heavy barn work bailed on me. I figured I could do it if I was careful! WRONG! I can see that I will have to be aware that I have had major surgery and treat myself as such until I heal. I ended up calling someone today that says he will come out and clean stalls, pick local fields and dump manure. If I want to stay under the weight limit restrictions I must let others due things for me. Three main reasons for having surgery were health, riding and employability. Don't want to screw it up now.

WooRay!!! You will feel much better in home environment.
  7. Thanks ISG. I did call and surgeon asked numerous questions and I am ok but will go in on Tuesday just to be sure.
  8. @@rickm Thanks. Not sure if I actually "did" any damage but I'm sore. I'm not good at asking others for things that I think I should be able to do myself and was lifting too much. I will contact surgeon on Tuesday - sure hope I didn't mess up anything.

    Constant nausea

How far along are you? I had constant nausea for first four days but fifth day it eased. I'm hoping it will go away in a few more days.

What did I do to myself?

I was sleeved Wed, 5-25. Pain not bad at all but nausea was debilitating. It is now 5/28 and I am super exhausted and nauseous though not as bad. I do believe it gets better each day. The nausea is really difficult. Huge headache also which for me means I need to get more Water in me. The nausea will lessen but for me has not gone away yet. I've had many surgeries but this one through me for a loop for sure. Just follow the directons
  11. My surgeon also wanted to do this in 2 step process. Tomorrow is step two - the sleeve. I had my band removed in December and now finally getting sleeve. I had to do 6 months of supervised diet etc. and now tomorrow is the date. I've got concerns but mostly looking forward to starting this wl journey again.

    Pedicure Right Now!

Wow I am impressed with all of the self caring. I am too embarrassed that I am fat and ugly and can't even get manicure and certainly not a massage. Maybe I can change after I lose the weight.
  13. Sorry for intruding - I am not having Bypass but did have band and was removed. I do not have anything right now but was experimenting with Vitamins for after my sleeve and the Bari-melts did the same thing to me. Almost all vitamins do the same for me. I found some Wellness liquid vitamins (Amazon) that do not have sugar alcohol content and don't make me run for restroom. I am sensitive to those things - more so than others. Keep experimenting with vitamins. I think I am going back to what James M. suggested - Flintstones chewables.
  14. I had band many years ago and am getting sleeve soon. I've suffered with this problem most of the past decade. For me I don't think it is directly related to the band and probiotic and fiber supplements have helped. I would also speak with your PCP and perhaps a Gastroenterologist. When I started the liquid phase it was constant but has eased up some. Good luck
  15. Protein "shakes" are very different in taste. I like unjury because I've used it for such a long time (had band in 2004) but even find it tastes different. I'm on final stages of pre-op and have finally figured out how to make a great tasting "chicken soup" using Unjury. I also like the Premier Protein shakes. I used to like the unflavored Unjury in crystal light but am not finding it to be "not so" tasty. In the grand scheme of things the protein "shake" problem is short term as you will be eating your protein not drinking. Good luck.

    Peer to peer

Brenda - my insurance company denied my lap band removal! My surgeon did a peer to peer and approved the removal. I hate to say this - is there anything you could document as a comorbidity? Maybe go deep into your records and find something? I wish you good luck with insurance company.
  17. @beggingtobehealthy Thanks - great advice I will have to try it. I had band and band removal already and although I experienced gas pains they were not as others here have described. I will definitely use this advice to make sure that I get my liquids in place.
  18. @@walkermy I can relate to what you have said. I also have lost weight at various times but it was didn't keep it off long term. I had band and lost weight - kept almost 80% off but had complications. My surgery for sleeve is 5/25 and I have lost 16 pounds so far on my pre-surgery diet. I flirt with idea of not taking drastic step of another WLS. For me - the sleeve will not only help me lose the weight but most of all keep it off. Good luck with your decision.
  19. A guy In my support group stated day 2 he was in so much pain. I've had lap band and had removal and had gallbladder removed and was never in that much pain. I'm hoping that this will be the case also. Good luck OP - hope all goes well. I'm getting my sleeve the day before on 5/25.

    Any one ride horses?

I'm getting sleeved in one week and just had this conversation with my horse last night. I can't wait to see the difference losing my weight and developing my core muscles will make. My boy is draftx and I made sure he was able to handle my weight. I want more confidence and think that weight loss will definitely benefit. I can honestly say that right behind health this is the main reason I am pursuing the sleeve. I want to see what riding would be like if I were lighter and more balanced. Someone mentioned energy level. No can't wait to see how my energy level changes. I am so excited for my new journey to begin.
  21. My insurance denied my lap band removal also. Surgeon did a peer to peer and it was approved. I'm getting sleeve on 5/ 25. The insurance (same company and policy) approved me in two days. I agree with others FIGHT the insurance company. When I was banded I threw up almost everyday and I never knew which foods would work for me. It was a long 11 1/2 years. Good luck!

    Pre op diet

Mine is not required liquid but I am doing liquid. I had band and gall bladder and then band removed and I'm afraid of difficulties. I want my liver to be small and surgeons to have a large area to work. I want minimal issues.

    Sleeves and PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS decades ago. I had the Lap Band in 2004 and was successful in my weight loss. Had some issues and had band removed and am getting sleeve on 5/25. I suspect I will be able to lose weight then also. Hang in there - WLS should help.

    Did anyone's insurance call...

Just beware! Insurance companies sole purpose is to make money! I'm sorry to sound cynical but they do not care about you or your weight loss. Whenever my insurance company calls me I ask questions and terminate the call. They can and I'm sure do at times use the informational provided to them as a basis for their decisions. It is important to always know to whom you are speaking and why they want to know certain things about you.

    A little confused

I had band for over 11 years and I had it and worse if used sugar substitute. I'm scheduled for sleeve at end of month and expect the same again.
