Indegestion 3 wks postop bypass
Moorekat replied to plakbusta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Omeprazole! I haven't had acid reflux since surgery. Maybe the Pepcid isn't strong enough! Are you eating foods that are too rich or spicy too soon? May be worth a call to your Doc if it continues. -
Eating habits = no Bueno.

If you get more protein then you won't be wanting to eat carbs as much. Unfortunately, you have had chips and pizza and know you can tollerate them, making it more difficult to not want them. But, you didn't have this surgery to not benefit from it! Soups and chili, make some low carb revolution rolls for bread for a sandwich with lunchmeat/cheese or tuna with a little dill pickle on the side. I also love a BLTC on these rolls. Make cauliflower pizza crust and put chicken or Turkey sausage or Pep. on it with cheese. They are pretty good and very low carb. I use the Walmart pizza sauce. It has only 3 carbs for a 1/4 cup and I only use like a tbsp. of the sauce. Take the time to make healthy food so you can enjoy it! You sound like you know what you did wrong. Now all you gotta do is stay focused and not do it again. We are going to get skinny and healthy! Yay us! -
I have no idea why my post above posted like 4 times. LOL! I'm not a pro at this as you can see. I'm so sorry you are having a rough time! I love watching cooking shows. I love to cook. It definitely was not the home cooked meals that made me fat. It was eating out, fast food and convenience foods(junk) that constantly made it to my mouth that did that! Cut yourself some slack! You just had surgery. It gets easier when you feel better and also when you can add more variety of foods in. Your body is still adjusting to having this surgery and so is your mind! I'm 9 weeks out and I'm still adjusting too! If you ever need to talk one on one, I'm on FB as Kats Journey(the picture has 2 swans). Hope you feel better soon.

I was a mess after surgery! I felt so incredibly sad and alone even though I knew I had support. I only had my period maybe twice a year before surgery. Now I have no idea when it will hit but the one I had was extremely heavy and miserable recently. We are dealing with all kinds of things. Not using food to cope with those is also a trigger for crazy emotions. I don't know about you but I miss being able to eat! I mean really eat! But, the difference is.... I don't want to eat, I just miss it! I try to distract myself from that kind of thinking because the food I was eating was not helping me. It was not my buddy! It was hurting me inside and out! That has been my biggest hurdle so far! You are doing great! Hang in there! As you get use to our new way of life, it gets a lot easier. I was a mess after surgery! Hi Sallo! Before surgery I was on a 2 week Liver shrinking diet. I was allowed up to 40 carbs a day so I basically just ate lean meats and veggies since a piece of bread would be 20 carbs of my 40 allowed. After surgery, I was on a liquid diet for a little over a week, then a pureed diet for another week, then soft-mushy foods for almost 2 weeks. At 4 weeks post-op, I was allowed to transition to regular foods. Soda pop or anything carbonated is out forever they told me, because it could stretch out my pouch and alcohol is not recommended but allowed in moderation they say! I'm about 9 weeks out and although I had a stall for a few weeks, I've still lost 40 lbs. so I'm pretty happy with that! Before surgery I'd be lucky to lose 2-3 lbs. in that time!

Hmmm! Acid Reflux should be resolved by having RNY, not make it worse. Are you eating really spicy foods? Are you taking Omeprezole/Prilosec? I definitely would consult with your surgeon. Hope it goes away and there aren't any real issues! Good Luck!

Love that! It's a great way to see! I measure every 2 weeks and cut a ribbon to the amount of inches lost. My ribbon is 4 feet long so far! That's pretty exciting to see too! I'm going to do the jars for the weight lost though!

Constipation Question?
Moorekat replied to peglynmc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drink some Miralax with Hot tea and take a few stool softeners! My surgeon told me to take stool softeners and take Miralax and drink more Water. After 5 hours of bathroom hell, I finally went. It hurt so bad. I take Miralax every other day and a stool softener almost every day and try to drink a lot of water. Staying consistent is the key to not have that happen again! Hope all is fine now! -

Feeling alone on this journey
Moorekat replied to bypassdoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Feb. 2. I still struggle to get in as many fluids and Protein they want me to get in. I had a really hard time for the first 4-5 weeks. Then all of a sudden, I felt better. I had more energy, I went back to work and I could finally lay down flat without pain. I am averaging about 600-800 calories a day, 40 oz. of fluids and I'm getting about 60 oz. of protein. I'm supposed to be getting about 100 oz. of protein which seems like a lot but, according to the Bod Pod that is what I need to maintain my muscle mass. That is very hard to reach! I don't over do it on working out. I walk 2 miles, 3-4 times a week and sometimes do the bike. I do great with my Vitamins. I lost a lot my first week and it's been slow and steady since although I hit a stall for almost 3 weeks. I even went up a pound or two in there somewhere. I'm sure it was because I wasn't eating/drinking enough. I'm down 40 total and 33 since surgery. That's almost 4 lbs. a week loss even though most of it was the first week and I had a 3 week stall. Pretty Awesome I feel! If you ever need to chat, let me know! Hang in there! It does get better! -

You look so Great! Congratulations! -
Hi Bedker123, I actually was the opposite. I had sharp pain when I tried to lie down. I slept in my recliner for 3 weeks before I could lie down comfortably. Mine was a nerve pain issue. They cut through nerves and you will be tender and sore for a while. I'm 6 weeks post op and feel great but I am still a little tender still. You will feel much better soon. Moving around every hour or so will help! Heating pads help with the pain too! I hope you feel better soon. Don't feel defeated! I didn't feel very good for 3 weeks, where some people feel fine after a few days! Our surgeries may be the same but our bodies are not! Everyone deals with surgery and pain differently! Hang in there!
