  1. I am only five weeks, they don't clear caffeine until 12 weeks. More sleep and exercise do sound nice, but between kids, schooling and kids schooling stuff it's not gonna happen this week. Thanks, I will push through. Two more papers, 4 finals... I got this. I may sleep for a week when it's finally over. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Day 6 post op

Are you following your post-op diet plan? One week out is generally clear or full liquid only. apple sauce is acidic, I would wait a few weeks before trying again. Acid plus fresh wounds generally don't go very well together. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  3. The other thing is they studied people who were working out 4 to 5 hours a day, eating under 500 calories. We know that if we did that our bodies would freak out too. We lose weight quickly but not 200 lbs in a few months quickly. Our metabolism do take a hit, but nothing like the guys who do biggest loser. Think about all the veteran WLS patients who have managed to maintain for 3, 4, 5, 10 years. Sure there are those than gain but largely because they stop exercising and start adding in too many junky foods. We got this!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  4. Here is an article I read this morning about how people's bodies fight tooth and nail to put weight back on after weightloss. It looked at biggest loses six years out. Measured all their hunger hormones. Main point was metabolism slows way down, and decreases leptin and increases grehlin. Maybe that's at least some hope for sleeve patients is that it is harder for our bodies to wreck out hormones to put weight back on. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/02/health/biggest-loser-weight-loss.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&referer= Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Snacking?

After 6 weeks (one more week) I was told to have three small meals ( 3 ounces of dense Protein plus veggies if still room, no more than 1/2 cup total) and two small Snacks (string cheese, greek yogurt, 1/3 c of cottage cheese). They did say if we are getting our required protein we can REPLACE a protein snack with a vegetable snack, but likely we won't be able to do that until we are closer to a year when we can move up to slightly bigger portions. Thyroid

I have hypothyroidism. My surgeon just required that it was managed with medication. Only a month out and I have already had to get my medication lowered and my PCP says it will likely be lowered a few more times. I am 19lbs down, so in the middle, but I just finished a long 3 week stall. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Regrets?

Dame regrets as many on here. I regret not doing it sooner. I regret letting my weight get so high before I was ready to be serious about my weight and health. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  8. Scale finally, slowly moving. I did lose inches during the stall, from 24 pants to snug 20's. Wishing I was in the 30lbs lost club, but alas I am not. As of this morning at 19lbs lost since surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Anyone from Denver? Psl

I am from Denver. Almost 5 weeks post-op. Follow the plan, things will move (never as fast as anyone hopes). The first week post-op is pretty rough, you're week, tired and living off of broth and popsicles. But around day 7, day 8 things get so much better. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  10. Saw this on my facebook feed. Made me laugh out loud. Anyone else have any funny diet/weighloss/exercise meme's they have seen lately.
  11. No lifting, pulling or pushing anything over 15 pounds for 6 weeks. So I would day unless you can get away with just doing iv lines and caths I think most of your job would be pretty hard. Maybe a month you could do most things, but at two weeks, no. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  12. My old habit was to eat bad choices when I would stall on diets in the past. I am resisting the urge. I just keep keeping, hoping one day I wake up and a few pounds will be gone. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  13. These are capri's I couldn't wear last summer, they were way too tight. So despite the scale not moving since 1 week post op, clearly something is happening.

    Ab exercises.

I can fit 6 finger across in the largest part of the gap. It's pretty significant, but I will check out the site thanks. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Ab exercises.

I have always been a big fan of squats but I don't think I was doing them right because I never felt it in my abs or back. But I will ask the PT about better form to work my core too. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

My irrational fear of drowning (despite counciling I have had since I was a toddler) makes swimming a scary idea. I although I will kick around with a pool noodle. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk I will check it out for sure. Thanks Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Ab exercises.

I will definitely look into yoga. They have shown it is so good for your mind, body and reduces injuries. Great idea. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Ab exercises.

I got PCP to write a referral for weekly PT to help with core muscle repair and knee help. Yahoo. It's should all be ready by the time I am 6 weeks, once a week for 52 weeks. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Sooooooo close

I would call your endocrinologist and talk with her. Are you on insulin or just metformin? Try lowering your blood sugars with diet, try and keep total carbs under 50g per day, makes sure at least 25g of those are from Fiber. Exercise, even just walking will naturally lower your blood sugar. If you start your high Protein, very low carb and walking now you will also likely drop weight. A weight drop of 5% can usually bring your A1C's down significantly. A1c's are a three month average, so it will take some work, everyday, but it's possible. You may need to have your medicine adjusted as well, but there is a lot you can do to get those numbers down too. Oh and don't forget diabetics best friend, lots of Water. 20. I know, I know. Knowing that it's normal, knowing that it doesn't mean you will fail are helpful. But at some point I still wanna be mad, doesn't mean I am giving up, or think I failed. Just means I am mad, I am jealous, and I want some some recognition for my hard work to show in the numbers. I am not needy all the time, but sometimes seeing those numbers not move since week 1, and now going on three weeks of the same numbers... I think it's fair to be annoyed. KWIM? It's also hard because some people lose weight the quickest in the first 6 weeks, others don't really getting started until later. It's nice to hear something new. New kids like me get it, but doesn't mean we have to like it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  21. Thank you! Thank you for some positive news. I know stalls happen, I know weight loss is different for everyone but sometimes when week after week the scale stays the same, it's hard to keep looking forward. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Elastic belt?

Hi guys. So some of my pants are getting too loose. Yahoo! But to keep my wardrobe costs reasonable I am wondering if I could belt some. The problem is normal belt digs into my incision when I sit down. Has anyone seen an elastic style belt that would hold my pants up but not be so rigid when I sit or squat? I tried amazon but the one kind they had didn't have very good reviews. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

    Ab exercises.

I have a check up with my PCP, I am going to ask her what she thinks. You would think it would be a fairly common thing, I mean personal trainers can help and are a great motivator, but having known a few, most gyms require little to no formal training. I want to start with someone who has had a specialized education, then once I am comfortable, I can move on to a personal trainer, or by myself.

    Elastic belt?

Maybe I was looking under the wrong thing. The one plus size I saw said came undone when you sat or bent over. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  25. Hi. So I had my surgery 3/28. Most of my incisions are looking great. But one small one (the one where they had the qball attached) is really friggin itchy. I looked at it today and it's about the same redness as right after surgery and the other ones are pinkish now. So I gently pressed around it, it had some liquid and thick puss. Not a lot, but enough to make me think I need to get it looked at. The question is, do I ... A.) call on the call doctor. B.) Visit urgent care tomorrow (sunday) C.) Call Monday and get an appointment. D.) Go to my schedule appointment wednesday? I just feel bad bugging on call for when it doesn't feel like an emergency.
