Colorado chick WOW! I'm excited for you. I only have 10 days left til my date. I only have to do 2days of preop liquid. Have you use Isopure. It has so much protien & 0 carbs. I easily got through the day without hunger. Ihae 60 more #'s then you to lose but I know we can do it. I'm from western Ne but am having my surgery in Denver. Can't wait! I'll be thinking about you.

I do know that your machine tells how many hours you use it and I assume your doc wants you as healthy as possible. I have had sleep apnea and used a machine for over 10 years. They take a little getting used to but you will feel so much better. Your health is at serious risk if you don't use it. They are small, quiet and have a variety of masks or nasal pillows. I can't sleep without mine now. Good luck to you. If you like you can pm me.

Worst dieting experience EVER...
losing it in ne replied to celticdreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my, Oh my I certianly hope you don't have other health issues. This is about the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I think I'd be looking for another group. You've just put your body into stravation mode and will probably gain extra weight when you go off of the diet. It seems a lot of doc's require a 2 week liguid diet(not mine thankfuly) but I think that is to make the surgery easier. Mine just flat tells you you need to lose x #'s before surgery if necessary at the very first visit. Good luck to you but seriously I'd be lookin elsewhere:eek: -
Having second thoughts -- AACK!
losing it in ne replied to LisaB411's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is so normal to have all those fears especially when they tell you 50million things that could go wrong and unfortunately do sometimes. None of us want to give up what we think is special but I agree with Truckaholic just think of all the new things that may become favorites. Oh what fun just getting to try them or do them again. I get banded 4/10. I am more scared of not knowing how to be a normal weight because I have always been overweight. What will I do, how will I act and heavens how will other people treat me. Bring it on though I'm ready to do this! -
Any April's out there?
losing it in ne replied to bft33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My date is 4/10 and I'm getting very excited. Dr Snyder (Denver) only requires a 2 day liquid preop. So not to bad. Insurance took forever and then my date got cancelled twice in March because the Doc was going to be out of town. That was really frustrating but since I don't have a great medical history probably a good thing. Good luck to all of you. Yeah april avengers!!!!! -

I'm being banded 4/10 and I think Isopure is pretty good. They have a good variety, better on line then in the stores. -
Lap band not working out like I thought
losing it in ne replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
BrandyII I haven't had my band yet but I have been overwieght all of my life. Part of what I have learned along the way is only I can decide what I eat. There is no such thing as good or bad but just our habits of eating them. Sounds to me like you don't know how to use this tool that you have and that is all that it is. It can decide for you what you put into it. Believe me I used every excuse for my poor habits but the only person you are hurting is you. If you trully can't keep down healthier solids then there are still very good proiten based drinks that can be used. Being in a small area is not an excuse either I have to drive over 3 hours for even the nearest doc but I am worth it. You need to find some help and maybe some therapy to help you over these feelings. You may need to see your PCP about hormones and depression since you did this so soon after very major and stressful time in your life. You will regret it always if you don't follow through with this. You miss out on so much of life and your children because of the power that food holds over you. Believe me at some point the stress of the extra pounds will catch up with you. Please try to find some emotional help. I come to this website but I also see a lot of nay-saying here instead of real true support of the decision you made and help to get you over the rough spot. Yes I know I probably sound like your mother and I am probably old enough to be. It has been a very long and emotional journey to get to were I am today and I know it is not easy and there are no quick fixes. Hang in there and see what you can find in the way of positive support instead of another person who enables you to continue this destructive spiral you are in. I am scheduled 4/10 and I can't wait to enjoy things that I never knew before. This like a whole new adventure for me as I have always been overweight. Good luck to you and I hope you will overcome this battle with food. -
wow lucky you get your sleep study done just because you will feel so much better. Hope everything goes well for you. Double check all of the insurance requirements most still require a period of medically supervised weight loss. Good luck to you!

Waiting on my surgery 4/10 but I have had sleep apnea for 10 + years and actually it is a reason to have the surgery rather then stop it. About 60% of sleep apnea resolves with weight loss. Cool huh! Sleeping with the equipment gets easier over time and be sure to check out different masks, nasal pillows etc. There are some really minimal devices but you realy have to try them to see if you like them. My supplier sent me one that was suppose to be top of the line and I hated it. Some I personally can't use becase of the amount of pressure from my machine. It really is amazing how much better you feel with it. Also I have had 9 major abd surgeries with mine so this one is a peice of cake. :wink2:

Is the band right for me?
losing it in ne replied to southerngirltx's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm waiting for my band (4/7) but like you I used to never eat breakfast and was always straving in the evening. I know I sound like the soap box but do what you have to do to break your cycle now. It is my experience that a very High protien breakfast will keep me more satisfied and less hungry in the evenings. I actually do a shake of rice protien powder, vitalife(puritan pride), banana & water. Sometimes I add ground flax seed especially if I have been feeling hungry late afternoon. This gives me 30 grams of protiens in about 150cals. I'm still having the band because after finally figuring out some of how to eat right I have 190# to lose. If you think this is right for you don't let people talk you out of it. If you are just thinking about doing this make sure to continue to get documented medically supervised weight loss help because most insurances require 6-24 months. If you are self pay it won't matter. If you can get to a really good wls seminar I believe it would be very helpful. Look for a Dr with a program not one who just does the surgery. The band is a great tool but like all "tools" you need help to learn how to use it and what to expect from it. Unlike me don't waste a few more years thinking you can do it on your own. Statistics prove that is seldom the case and why should you spend any more of of some of the best years of your life trying to do what likely will not happen. I hope you will stay in touch and good luck in your quest for the right answer for you. -
Good luck to you. My date is 4/10 and like you I am excited, scared etc. I am really glad to find this thread as I also am a christian and not all christians understand or accept what I am doing. I haven't told a lot of people mostly because I am a private person. Most of my church family will be suportive no matter what they personally feel because I have struggled with health issues for several years. Having another christian who knows exactly what you are going through will be great. I'll pray for you.

HELP my doc recommeded RNY????
losing it in ne replied to Tangerine4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your insurance may decide for you. they frequently have guidelines for these things. I have not had my band yet (4/10) but even having to lose 190 # I really feel that the drastic measures of rny are extreme. You need to talk to some people because my sis out ate her RNY but unfortunately she still has the problems that go with it like extreme GERD. You trully need to take a look at both surgeries and fit all of it into your life. What does your family think of them. Both have specific problems but the risks in the RNY are much greater and the last reason you consider should be whether or not you can reduce or give up sweets, both require lifestyle changes. -
getting banded on March 19th
losing it in ne replied to nurselori73's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
my date is set for 4/10 and I can't wait. One thing I noticed is that most of you only have 100-120 pounds to lose while I have 190 after already losing 30 on my own. Maybe most with my wieght have by-pass surgery but I don't medically qualify for that and I really didn't want it any way. The band suits my life philosophy better. Is there anyone out htere who has as much to lose as I do. I also have always been heavy. Just thinking of a thin life is kind of scary. I don't know if I'll know what to do. It has been a long and emotional journey to get to this point but I know I am ready and have already made many of the lifestyle changes that need to occur now I just need the tool. Gosh I can hardly wait. I was postponed and cried I was so disappointed but it's only 3 more weeks and I have waited this long so I'll get through it. I'm sure I'm going to need lots of help so I am going to rely on all of you to drag me through the rough spots. Thank goodness for this website. counting the days:thumbup: -
Exercise Suggestions for Very Bad Knees
losing it in ne replied to allheart's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I do a program called indoor walking by leslie sansone only ten minutes at a time. I would also find a good rhuematologist and see if procaine injections would help the pain in your knees I have done them for a year now and they are awsome. It takes away the pain and allows me to move better which strengthens the joint. I ususally only have them about every 4-6 weeks but everyone is different. Trynit you'll love it -
I'm not sure why you were denied but don't give up. A wedsite call obesityaction.org has a lot of info on insurance and appeals things you may not have thought of. Check it out and keep going.

I have bc/bs of iowa and I used their case management support and got through much faster then if I had done it on my on. The nurse I got was very helpful and helped me to access the authorization department. Also some of the requirements are waived if you have comobidities(2). Good luck to you and keep working at it it is worth it.

hi gals I'm waiting to have my band on 4/10. Really anxious. I look so awful now I can't imagine what it will be like after the weight comes off. It took a while but I got the insurance to pay for mine. I have had multiple(like 9) abdominal surgeries in the last five years. the surgery doesn't scare me but I worry about complications from the other surgeries and believe me a couple took a year each to heal up from. I know I am ready to do this and can use the tool successfully just going to need a little help along the way. Since I live in a rural area finding a local support will be tough, so here I am.

Doc says, "It won't work unless you make a lifestyle change"
losing it in ne replied to angelsoul's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your doc is right. but that doesn't mean you should n't do this it just means you need to step back and take a really hard look down the road to see if you can really do this otherwise you will just be unhappy with your choice, angry and depressed. If you have been unsuccessful because you won't follow a program for long enough time and find yourself resentful and denied because you can't have whatever you want whenever you want it and if you eat to deal with lifes problems you defnitely can out eat the band. Get some good support and figure out why you eat. Don't just do this & want it to make you thin it won't happen. You have to do the work just like for anything else in life it doesn't just fall in your lap soto speak. I hope you stay on line and get into a really good suppor t group and maybe therapy. It will be worth it. -

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
losing it in ne replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
20 plus years earlier I was just like you. I thought I could do it on my own and I was happy with my life as I knew. I am waiting for my band on Apr10. It is a very long emotional journey to get to where u need to be to take this huge step. Sadly you took the leap without hte baby steps brfore hand. The best thing for you now is to talk to your dac and get yourself into a good support group and if possible some therapy. I thought my life would be ok til about 10 yrs ago when my health went to pieces in ahurry. now 9 major abdominal surgeries later I know I have to do this or not possibliy not see much more life. Step back a minute take time to think about how you felt about yourself that led you to make this decision. The band won't change the way you see yourself. I'm assuming you have always been overwieght umlike many bandsters who want to be thin again. Probably the scariest thing for me is I don't know what a thin life is. Will I still be me will my life be the same, better worse but for me I know I will be healthier. I'm sure you're thinking but I am now just as I did but statistics prove what will likely happen to you in the future and the results are not good. Even if you don't get the fill etc don't give up now talk to your doc get in a group(you'llbe surprised at howmany felt like you) even the stess of the surgery can impair your thought processes. Give it time, get the help& info you need before you make this huge decision. -
congrats to you. I am tentatively scheduled for 3/6. Mine will be done in Denver as we live in western Ne. I have afriend who has had the band just after christmas and so we are helping each other, but any other support is great.
