Picky Eater and Eating with Friends
Moonspinner posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone... I am considering LapBand surgery and have some concerns. I am a very picky eater. There are so many things that I don't like. I have a lot of concerns about the liquid and mushy phases. I am reading through the postings regarding what others are eating and not seeing very many things that I like. If I make sure to take a vitamin, will I be okay? Even now I am rarely hungry. I eat because I'm bored, or on emotions, or because my family is eating and I know I have to have something in my system. Is getting banded going to make me hungry? I'm not really looking forward to feeling hungry when I haven't ever really had to deal with that. When I am on the liquid phase...doesn't it just pass straight through and won't I always feel hungry?? Last (sorry). As I am sure all of you feel this way to, you can understand that I am not proud of being fat and embarrassed that I may have to resort to surgery to make me finally lose weight. I would prefer that not everyone knows. Obviously my closest friends and family will know. But how to I explain to others why I am not eating much at all and how I am losing weight so quickly. At my work, we have a lot of activites where we eat. Also, I know people will think bad of me for having surgery. It seems like a stupid concern but I have worked really hard to be respected in my life and don't want to lose that respect because I did something I felt I had to do. I am so grateful for this forum...it has answered so many of my questions. Any advice would be apprecaited!! -
Do you tell your kids about having LBS?
Moonspinner replied to Blund's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have four children ages 10, 7, 4 and 2. I have had many surgeries and am scheduled for yet another (not LapBand at this time...I have to have a rib removed). For each surgery, I explained to all my kids that mommy had something that needed fixed and I would not feel good for a while. They don't really need to gory details...they just need to know you need a while to feel better and to be gentle with mom. They have all been really good!! -
Ewww!! But thanks for asking...I was wondering too

Heparin Injections

I have also had to give myself shots. Not for this surgery but due to a clotting issue. The stomach is the best area. Do a little pinch and be sure to go straight in. Also be sure to avoid the area from your belly button to your groin. There is a major nerve in there that you don't want to hit. I am terrified of needles and never thought I could do this to myself. You do what you have to do. It's really not so bad. I pinched the skin..touched the tip of the needle to the pinch and then looked away as I shoved it in. It works lol. -

I understand completely why the site could scare you. I am only considering the surgery still and the forum has raised a lot of questions, however, I am glad that I found the site. I have found in my life that I like to hear absolutely all the bad things...that way when I do something and it goes well...I feel really lucky. The site has answered a lot of questions and better prepared me for making a decision on having surgery. Congratulations to you on your surgery and GOOD LUCK!!!
