Well, it's also raining here... that makes it dark early in the day and I don't think it's safe to run in the dark, especially since I haven't got any reflective tape on my clothes.
-
I'm also a whimpy Californian who complains when it goes below 70 F. But it's also raining off and on all week and that makes it dark and I'd rather not run when cars can't see me and wet stuff is falling from the sky. I have a 24 days free coupon for a local gym -- I think I'll use it over the holidays.
-
The other thing I feel compelled to point out is that it's a FREEZING outside! But not in the gym.

But part of that is the weird way they measure weight loss. They don't do it as a percentage of excess weight to lose, but as a percentage of your starting weight. So that means people who start really high and are very small so can go down very low, have an advantage over those who don't start as high or who are taller and can't go as low and be healthy. Anyway, I started Week Four of Couch-to-5K this week. But I do it at the gym and I'm at home for the rest of the week. Should I make myself go out in the cold and jog? I don't think I can!
-
That sounds a bit extreme to me. Most people on the tri sites say they take a week off from working out after a tri but that's about it.
-
I need to start running in the real world too. And buy a bike. My triathlon is in April and right now I'm a real hot house flower with all my training being in the gym. Plus, it's hard to do a tri without a bike. We're going out to buy them after Christmas.... dd and ds need new bikes too so we're all going to get one.

Damn insurance companies. Too much touching stuff to comment on so I will just tell you about these two guys I used to date. (Not together, one after the other.) They were roommates and would sit around and light each others farts and thought this was the greatest thing ever. (The dutch oven talk reminded me of that.)

I don't have a big issue with the eating, but my gym is at work and so when I'm not at work, I don't go. So that's a problem over the holidays. I'm only going to work out 2 times this week and 3x next week and I bet I can tell on the scale. Anyway, for the eating, I've really worked on not thinking of the holidays as being about food or that the stuff you see there is something you *must* have to properly Celebrate the holidays. For example, we had cake at work today to "celebrate". But one cake had rum in it (I don't like the taste of rum) and the other looked dry. So I had some nice herbal tea and visited with the engineers I don't normally see very often because they are on other projects. I had a blast.

Get the Lightsaber app!

It's frustrating when your doctor won't believe you. Have you timed your meals and can tell him that you definitely aren't eating too fast?
-
Isopure saved me my first two weeks post-op. I can't stand it now though. Anyway, I've been thinking about ordering some stuff from GNC. It's nice to know they have good customer service.

Heated and Moisturized Gas into stomach?
MacMadame replied to twiggysmiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't heard that but some surgeons will also suck out as much gas as they can after the operation and that helps too. -
Drinking after eating and sweet spot or too tight???
MacMadame replied to health4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't got a band but this happens to sleevesters and bypass people too sometimes. The problem is that my stomach is full and there is no room for the water. -
It really does sound like you are too full. I've seen that happen to people before... okay right after the fill, but then as it settles in, not okay.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! The best advice I've been given is to "make your decision and not look back!"

Welcome to LapBandTalk! I lost 30 lb. pre-op, myself. I was determined to be as small as possible at surgery so I could have as safe a surgery as possible.

But when the kid is older, she will really appreciate that your dh did that and didn't let the drama interfere with their relationship. I know that one of my best friends goes through this with his ex and now that his kid is in HS, she choses to live with him and considers him the parent she can trust and rely on.

Hey, start now. There a a bunch of people who started doing this get into shape instead of waiting. Like this guy: Home of When Big Boys Tri

But that's exactly why Oprah's attitude towards WLS pisses me off. She is in a great position to spread the mesasge -- that diet and exercise alone doesn't work and that WLS does work and is the only tool we have right now that does work.

My personal hell is freezing and the wind blows all the time. On my wet hair. Honestly, I think your OB is right. The don't drink anything at any time rule is more about lawsuits IMO than giving out sensible advice. Riesling! That's the only wine I like.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! I suggest you hang out here and see what life is like with a band and hang out at a bypass board and see what life is like with a bypass. Then decide which you can live with.

Lap Band Surgery Dec 23,2008
MacMadame replied to JulieJulie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sleeve is slang for a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. It's just a different type of WLS. The operation takes slightly longer and maybe a day or two longer to recover from than a band so if I can go to a party so soon after, it's likely you will too. The only think I'd advise is to not promise anything ahead of time. Because sometimes people are in a lot of pain and can't do anything for a few days and it's hard to predict ahead of time if you will be one who is in the minority. -
I only trade for sunshine! I scheduled an all-day meeting for my team today. I'm sure they hate me. But they didn't want to do it last Friday and said they wanted to do it today... so that's what they got.

It rained today. It's supposed to rain tomorrow. It's supposed to rain ALL WEEK. I am not happy about this.
